My mother recently passed away. At the end, she was under hospice care with Kindred. Every single person I dealt with at Kindred was kind, helpful, and compassionate. This was an especially difficult time for our family, because my mother had been hiding her cancer for the past year. We went from thinking we had another decade or more with her, to saying goodbye within the space of a single month. I honestly don't know what I would have done without the nurses and social worker from Kindred. Learning that they provide support for the family as well as the patient, and that these services would be available up to a year following our loss, was an unexpected blessing. The social worker came during that last day and sat with us as we told stories about my mother and did our best to come to grips with what was happening. I can't speak highly enough of these people. They treated my mother with dignity. The skilled nursing facility she'd been in was dismissive and cold with her. She was miserable and afraid there. When we brought her home and Kindred took over, she was comfortable and free of anxiety for the first time in weeks. She passed quietly, with no fear. That's what Kindred did for us, and it means more than I can say.Provider Response
