I am/was a resident of this facility

Content: My husband and I moved here 3 years ago. We were first drawn to the gorgeous landscaping (ponds, trees, flowering bushes,) 3 miles of walking opportunities, diverse housing options (which makes it look like a village, not a campus). The staff are caring, friendly, helpful and just nice, likable people who want to serve and help us in any way they can. We have met so many interesting, friendly, and helpful people who are now our friends and neighbors. No one should be bored here - there are activities that challenge mind and body, including exercise classes at 8 a.m.! Followed by aqua exercises! We love not having to shop much for food, fix the food, clean up after the food! The continental breakfast and one delicious meal provided each day more than satisfies our taste buds, supplemented by a small plate of something from the refrigerator. I will admit that it was challenging to downsize from a very large home to 1450 sq. ft + wonderful, pretty private patio.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Mom was at Porters Neck Village before. It was a larger campus and they had a variety of living accommodations. They have quads, duplexes, and apartment homes. So, they have a larger variety of what you might need depending on the stage you are in life. It also has a much larger campus with walking trails and a pond. It's an extremely nice facility. It's been there close to 30 years and they are constantly doing improvements, upgrading, and remodeling. So, it's got a good history of being well-maintained. The services that mom received there were good. They have a full-time nursing staff on board. If you need it, it's nice to have that. She had some health issues while she was there and they took very good care of her. It's a facility where you can go from independent living to needing assistance. The staff was excellent. They were very, very confident, very friendly, and very caring. They have a saltwater pool. So, they have even more activities than where she is now.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Mom was a resident for over 5 years - while reluctant at first as we had just lost my dad - she was welcomed and was able to participate in many activities, events and groups. She created new friendships and continued her passions of painting, bridge and knitting. And a cocktail or two. She was loved by the staff and she loved them. When she needed assistance PV Home Care was there for her - and took great care of her. I know she would have loved the new offerings that the current and future construction projects will offer. PV was her home !! And the staff were her family. Thank you to all who cared for her.

I visited this facility

It was a great facility, but there's a large entrance fee. It has a very large campus, so it's got a lot of walking paths, and a lot of activities. It's got an auditorium where they do shows and they have a choir. It's more of a community than just a facility. They also have an indoor heated pool for water exercises. The one negative, besides the large entrance fee, was that the buildings that will have the apartments are old enough that they're on a schedule to be taken down within five to ten years, so depending on their age, I'd rather not put my dad in a facility that in three years is gonna get torn down, or the fact that it's gonna get torn down, it's not gonna be maintained. The staff member during the tour was very nice. Their gingerbread cookies were very good. They're under construction to expand their dining room, so things were in a little disarray, but I completely understand that. They have a garden, walking paths around the campus, and an outdoor eating area. They're going to expand their dining room to include a large outdoor deck and patio that overlooks their pond. There was definitely lots of stuff.

I am/was a resident of this facility

We have been residents for 5 + years. We have a 2 bd. appt. overlooking the pond. A covered walk way takes us to The commons where most of our activities take place. We agree this time has been an exciting, full filling and interesting time. We enjoy all 8 elements of the wellness program and the varied and delicious meals. We have explored places in NC we wouldn't have thought to explore. It is a village with many new friends, with stories to share, things to do and festivals to attend in our auditorium. We highly recommend PV a vibrant village to any one seeking a great place to retire.

I visited this facility

It was very nice but it was also very expensive. They had assisted living, nursing home and even individual apartments. You did not have to leave if you went from one care to another. I tried the food and it was delicious. It was a very popular place and had a good reputation.

I visited this facility

It is very nice. They have apartments, they have individual housing. It's considered to be probably the high-end or the upscale one in the area. It's set in a lot of acres with a lot of walking path. They come in and clean your apartment or house once a week and they offer just one meal a day, a continental breakfast. As the need arises, you can change from one type of housing to another or to an assisted living. The staff were very knowledgeable. It's a very good facility from staff all the way through.
