The decision to move into Casa was a process. It took quite a while for me to make such a big decision. After looking at a number of facilities, Casa really stood out. Now that I am here, I wish I had moved in sooner. They make the move in process easy. There are so many educational programs, social gatherings, exercise classes, gardening, and hobby opportunities and more. It is better than I expected. The residents are very involved. Oh, and the food is delicious too. Everyone is friendly and living life fully. My family has peace of mind.

Spending a retirement life at Casa has been a dream come true for me. As many of us had experienced during our productive years, whether it was working outside the home or inside raising a family, we had been fully devoted to it all. This often meant that we sometimes had to give up personal interests and hobbies. We are fortunate enough to make it through and now comes the retirement when we can freely pick up our interests and hobbies again! Casa offers various exciting activities, out of which the chorale group has been a delight and adventure for me. The weekly singing practice strengthens vocal cord, maintains lung capacity, and keeps the rhythm going! I got to make new friends with common interests and the group camaraderie is amazing as we build up the four vocal parts together for a song! The most fun is also that after the chorale performances (we have four performances each year), people come to us and express great appreciation. This brings such a strong and fulfilling sense of Casa community!

Moving to Casa de las Campanas was such a fantastic, positive life-changing experience for my wife and me! We did exhaustive research and visits to Life Plan Communities in the greater San Diego area for over 5 years, before making the decision for Casa. We have been blown away with the fantastic facilities, apartments, food, staff, and activities. It has exceeded our expectations, and we are so glad that we made the decision to choose Casa. We HIGHLY recommend it as a great life choice ! ! ! FIVE Stars *****

Casa is the only Non profit CCRC in the area. I would only go to a non profit community... If you love to eat, Casa is the only CCRC with buffet and full salad bar plus 2 restaurants in I've lived at Casa for 8 months and can't say enough positive. Not having family close by, I told my family member this was a gift to him so he wouldn't have to worry about me. Full care when, and if, I need it. EMTs round the clock which is very reassuring if I need such. What I love the most is that I can be busy all day with activities and events, or not! I can pick and choose what I want to do and still leave the community to visit friends, shopping etc. If I don't want to use my car, transportation is here and available. The staff are wonderful and never less than a smile/ hello and how are you. I love the indoor pool-> so very relaxing.. my apartment is lovely with a nice size patio and storage. My 2 cats even love Casa. I highly recommend Casa. My suggestion for those seeking a CCRC is don't wait too long to make the move. I still feel like I'm on the Casa Cruise ship...vacation.....everything is here.... EVERYTHING!

My wife and I moved into Casa in 2018. I was 83 and she was 78 at the time. We were living in San Jose and our children were in San Diego and Eureka. Both were too far away if we should need their help. We decided to move to San Diego to be close to our daughter. Eureka was not a good choice for access to medical care. We looked at the options in San Diego and were impressed with the facilities at Casa and the large apartment that was available. We were both in good health, we thought, but it seemed wise to pick a life care facility. That turned out to be a wise choice, because she had a surprise recurrence of cancer which we thought was conquered 20 years before. Our apartment was the perfect place to take care of her until she became so ill that she moved to the Casa Health Center for her final weeks. I was grateful that I could walk from my apartment to the HC to spend much time with her in her final days.

My Casa experience After retiring from a career in science I took 3 years of ceramic classes at a community college and started on quilting mostly making art quilts. Since both of these hobbies require a certain amount of space, I decided to discontinue them when we made the decision to move to a continuing care facility. After moving to Casa fortunately one resident artist offered a beginners watercolor class where I learned the magic of this form of painting. I am still continuing this with help of YouTube tutorials since she no longer teaches this class due to her health issues. I had several occasions to exhibits my art quilts and watercolors at residents group exhibits at Casa gallery. I look forward to have a chance to show my current paintings on residents group show.

Both my husband and I were research professors whose new students seemed to get younger every year. We forgot that as the years went by, we got older. After we retired and moved to California, we were reluctant to move to any retirement community. We did not want to give up our beautiful home that our architect daughter remodeled for us. However, we did visit several retirement communities in the San Diego and Los Angeles area. We liked Casa de las Campanas because it is non profit, close to our home ( 1 1/2 miles from our home). When COVID-19 was becoming a problem in the U.S., we decided to move to Casa’s independent living and also keep our home because of the close proximity. From our sun porch at Casa we found that we can see Lake Hodges, the Bernardo mountains and our old subdivision. Before we moved in I was a couch potato. Since moving here, I have become more active physically. The food is good, the staff is supportive, and the other residents very friendly. I no longer have to clean and cook. My husband goes to the gym everyday, seven days a week. He no longer has to worry about yard work or house repairs. Casa is beautifully landscaped. Across the street, there is a nature preserve which includes a recreation park that has many trails that lead to lake Hodges and the top of Bernardo mountain. My husband has been to the top of the mountain several times with friends. I have been up there with our children and grandchildren once. The view up there is spectacular. I joined chair yoga, line dancing, Latin dance, boxing lessons, the Memoir Writing Group, and The Health and Wellness Advisory Committee. With Covid we have not traveled, so we both have time to write, in between exercise and other activities. In the evening, there are all kinds of movies. On Sunday afternoons, we often attend classical and popular music concerts. Most of all, if and when we no longer can take care of ourselves, our children will not have to worry, Casa will provide skilled nursing, memory care and hospice care for us. All of these benefits give us peace of mind. I feel that we made the right decision moving here.

Casa De Las Campanas is lovely. In comparison to the other place, it's much larger. And the person who gave the tour is a delight. She was really good. I went with several people, but I didn't get everything. And then I went back again, and she was very, very thorough. When you walk in, it's elegant looking, but not fancy. There are lots of amenities there. They offer a meal ticket thing where you have freedom in terms of what you want to do with it. In each of the halls, there's a library area with tables, and if you have a group to play cards or something with you, you can use those. There's an indoor and outdoor pool. They have so many residents, I could see where they could have all these amenities. They also have a nice workout room. There were a couple of exercise classes going on when we were there. There are gardens on the grounds. You have a chance to see the grounds because every apartment has a balcony, so that's a plus for me.

Casa’s hidden treasure is its Hair Salon. Tucked away near the Sur Dining Room, it provides top-notch services for men and women. I used to drive half an hour to see my longtime hairdresser because I thought she gave me the best cuts ever. Guess what? I went once to The Salon at Casa and became an instant convert. I now have a standing monthly appointment for a cut and color and I only wish I had discovered the Casa Salon sooner

Immediate instant “family” is what you get when you come to Casa de Las Campanas to live. I know from experience. Shortly after arriving at Casa I was found to need immediate surgery. Upon my return I received calls, cards, offers of assistance and visits during my recovery. To me, it doesn’t much matter what floor you reside on; what direction your apartment faces or the blueprint of your home compared to the people with whom you live. Here the friends are like valuable jewels—irreplaceable. Come experience such a wonderful place.

I was begining to feel the deminiscing effects of growing older and started to plan for a life style that would best satisfy not only my current needs but also tried to anticipate what the future would be like. In partnership with my daughter, we embarked on a mission that would take all of the above into consideration. Our mission took us to many different types of facilities but we always came back to the same conclusion that Casa was the best choice for me. I have not found friends they have found me.

I moved here as a widower 5.5 years ago and have never regretted my decision. I have been able to use my business experience on active resident committees that have been beneficial to management. I participate in three discussion groups including Spanish through which I have met many residents who have become good friends. My apartment is just right and is a true home with all my special stuff right here to enjoy with their memories. I would recommend Casa to others in a heartbeat. It is a comforting place to enjoy retirement while secure in the knowledge that I will be taken care of for the rest of my life. Tom M

I moved to Casa 5 years ago and am so happy I did it soon enough to be mentally and physically able to enjoy the many activities offered here. I have especially enjoyed being a part of the hiking group through the trails near Casa, the line dancing class, and also the once a month social/dance where we can enjoy meeting other people and have fun listening to and dancing to the music of a wonderful band hired from outside. The food here is very good with a choice of 3 restaurants to choose from. And last but not least we have our apartments cleaned every other week. So, without having to cook, clean or do garden chores, I seem to be busier than ever!

I have been living at Casa De Las Campanas for the last 6.5 years and have never had life so easy. They do everything for us here. Prepare all our meals, clean our apartments every two weeks and provide lots of wonderful activities all year long. The people at Casa are exceptionally talented, wonderful, and extremely nice and down to earth. I am so glad I took the plunge and moved here. I can’t recommend it enough. SF, Casa Resident

Here is one reason why I am glad I chose Casa de las Campanas. Residents are encouraged to start clubs and groups that further all types of interests. For example, I started a Spanish conversation group which has been a fun activity for those of us who speak Spanish or want to learn a bit. I am now thinking of starting another group to practice my French or German. Casa residents are active and eager to learn new things.

We looked for a CCRC in the San Diego area because we wanted to be near family as we aged. We preferred a Type A to a Type B or C CCRC because we wanted to minimize our downside risk of later health care costs. We chose Casa de las Campanas because it is the only non-profit Type A CCRC in this area. We reasoned that it would provide adequate services at lower cost to residents since it did not have to generate profits either to enrich owners or to reinvest as much in the property to make it more attractive to sell at a profit. We were right in that rationale. Casa is the least expensive of the four Type A CCRCs in San Diego County. We also looked at governance. While profit motive is not a factor at Casa, we noted that a number of members and former members of the Board of Governors were residents here as well. That speaks to the Board’s interest in Casa’s performance and to the degree of engagement between the Board and the residents.

I've visited Casa De Las Campanas, it's very large and they've been around a long time. They've always been at the top of the list for everybody, so they're also very expensive. The facility was very nice, it wasn't brand-new like the others I saw but it had all the amenities. It had an outdoor pool, they had some nice-sized apartments. I didn't eat there but I saw the food as I walked by, it looked good. They also had a movie theater, hair salon, and worship services, they had a lot. The gal who showed me around knew everybody there, and everybody seemed to like her.

When I moved into Casa de las Campanas 5 years ago, I looked forward to having my meals prepared and activities provided. That part is as expected and very pleasant. However, I never suspected how much I would enjoy the libraries. Before moving into Casa, I would wait months for a book I wanted to read at the public library. No more. The two libraries here at Casa buy books every month, and they are easily available. You can even request a book you especially want to read, and you don't have to drive anywhere. Besides that, the Casa Book Club is a delight. We meet once a month to discuss a book of our choice. It's always fun to hear the opinions of other residents. It's a great group, and it is just another reason I enjoy living here at Casa de las Campanas.

As I look back at the last year and Covid, I realize how blessed we, the Casa residents, are to have been living here during the pandemic with a caring staff. There were many changes in our lives, and many that we did not embrace. However, the health and safety of the residents were always their top priority. They kept us informed with weekly updates while they made many decisions, some of which were to circumvent potential problems. There was always open communication with the Covid Response team. We are very fortunate to have such a dedicated staff.

My wife and I have lived in Cas de las Campanas for more than ten years. Every day we are well aware that our decision to move here was the best one we ever made for our retirement years. For twenty-three years we lived in a two-story condo with many steps. It took a knee replacement to quickly find out that we needed to find a better forever home. After researching on the internet and visiting several retirement facilities in the San Diego area, and at least 100 miles to the north of San Diego, we found Casa de las Campanas. This was the perfect fit for our idea of a forever home. I could remain active and continue my scroll saw woodworking hobby in a well-equipped Hobby Shop and my wife could continue being active while participating in an endless number of activities offered here. The staff is wonderful here, always attentive to our needs. Our three children were also happy that we found a forever home that met our needs and desires. It gave them the peace of mind that we would be well cared for during our retirement years.

My husband just got back to apartment from our Health Center (Continuing Care is the most important thing in selecting your senior home). Even during the Covid 19, the care and attention to our entire family was remarkable. It was clean, all the employees were efficient, kind and caring. The Activity Department workers in the care center were fun and loving. My husband had an incision that needed expert care and we found it here. It was reassuring that I could see him every day without having to leave our campus. While quarantined, visiting was allowed through the window of his room.

Moving into Casa gave me the opportunity to have a beautiful modern swimming pool just steps away, something i could only dream of when I had my own home. After moving into Casa I was happy to see that Casa actually has three swimming pools, two outside and one inside. The inside pool is especially convenient for me. Before breakfast, I enjoy heading to the indoor pool which is just one short elevator ride down one floor to the pool area.

My wife and I have been residents here for almost two years. We had researched CCRC's for 12 years before choosing Casa even though we did not live in the San Diego area. This is a wonderful community. The management and staff are terrific. We really like the three different restaurants with a wide variety of high quality menu options. The facilities are excellent, including three pools, a state-of-the art fitness center, libraries, hobby and craft shops. There are so many activities and events planned, it is important to keep our calendars current!

When I was thinking about downsizing and moving into a retirement facility I wondered if I would find enough things to do, and how much I would miss being able to grow and tend to my roses. Well, it turns out moving into Casa de las Campanas worked out just fine. I guess I should not have worried because I found a rose gardening club at Casa where there is an area on the campus where I am able to grow and tend to my own roses.

My husband and I have lived at CASA for over four years and really love the facility. This last year has been very challenging because of Covid19 but they have done a wonderful job of keeping all the residents very safe. The food is wonderful and the residents are very friendly. We love our apartment and never once doubted our move here. The staff is very dedicated to help us out with any issues/problems we may encounter quickly. I would recommend CASA to everyone I know who is looking to move into a facility of this type. It is also a non-profit which helps along with our year-end taxes.

Casa de las Campanas has been doing all it can to provide things to do to help residents remain active and well cared for during the pandemic. Basic Cable TV service is available at no additional charge. Casa even has it's own private TV channel so residents can keep up with what is going on around the facility. A new high speed wifi network has been installed so that residents have access to free internet access anywhere on campus. Staff members bring a "Happy Hour" cart around to our apartment with wine, beer, and cocktails. Other staff members have carts with other snacks, and ice cream that they bring around to the residents. This is in addition to the normal three meals a day available to each apartment. "We Are ALL In This Together" is not just a phrase here, everyone is working together to make resident life and staff employee work as pleasant as possible during these trying times. I am sure happy that I am here with all my friends and a friendly staff, and not stuck in my old house all by myself.

Casa De Las Campanas is one of the few places that's non-profit. We had a luncheon, and then we had a speaker afterwards. It was quite nice. I liked the place. It was very nice. The food was delicious. The rooms were pretty much the same. The thing that surprised me was that some rooms do not have kitchens anymore. They will offer a refrigerator, but they won't offer stove necessarily. I'm not sure I like that.

Do not send your loved one here. My mother has been in four health care facilities and this is the worst by far. Lack of caring by the caregivers. Administarors and care givers don't care when they make mistakes. They will just smile and tell you it's not a problem. Almost imposible to communicate effectively with them. Impossible to speak with a doctor after repeated requests. The hallways are wide, the curtains are nice and the facade is pretty, but the care and administration suck.

We chose and are moving next week to Casa de las Campanas. It’s about a mile from where we live right now. It has all the levels of care from independent living, which we are going int, to assisted living, skilled nursing, and memory care all in one facility. We’ve known about the Casa for a long time, and we know people already living there. The other thing that we really like is that it’s a type A community, so that once you buy in, no matter what a level of care you have, your monthly fee does not go up whereas at other places, if you go from independent-living to assisted, your monthly fee will go up. It’s very clean. The people are very friendly and very helpful and the food is excellent. When you walk in, it’s nicely decorated. We are on the 3rd floor, and they allowed us to take our dog.

We toured Casa de las Campanas. It’s a very large community with around 600 people who lived there. We liked that very much and were looking at two-bedroom plus den units. When people move out, they redo everything, so it’s like new. We found wonderful floor plans. The dining room was absolutely beautiful. They have pools and everything you need. What we didn’t see, and what we were looking for were active people doing things. We saw people with walkers, canes, and wheelchairs, and I want to be some place where people were still getting out and doing things. As far as the facility goes, it couldn’t be nicer. They have a choral group, people playing in an orchestra, and lots of day trips.

I like everything about Casa de las Campanas, but the upfront cost was very expensive. If you’re going into a two-bedroom, it’s going to cost half a million dollars, and more than $300,000 if you want something smaller. The monthly charges are reasonable though. I would rate the facility 5 stars, but I would give a 2-star rating for the upfront cost.

The monthly fees are more at the Casa de las Campanas, but they also are a continuing care. They offer full service, including a very nice memory center, where if you have memory problems, they will put you there, and then the spouse will continue to live in the unit there at the complex, which is very nice. And, they have a very nice cafeteria and restaurant, and you have a choice of either eating from the buffet, or you can order from the menu, and their food is excellent. Their costs are controlled better because they are non-profit, so that is a good thing. The closest hospital to them is the Pomerado Hospital, which is a brand new hospital, just finished being built, and is in Escondido, which is only about a five-minute drive or maybe ten, but it is not far. We were impressed with the people who work there. I would give them a four, and the only reason for that is they are so close to the freeway that if you have a unit that is on the East side of the complex, you hear the freeway traffic. You don't hear it when you are in the unit but if you are standing out in your balcony.

Casa de las Campanas is a buy-in; we originally did that, you have to be independent living, and then you always stay the same amount of rent. It is expensive because my mom had to put down a $20,000 deposit. She has done that, but when they got her records from the doctor and she had dementia, they said we can’t go in because she had to go in the assisted living. However, it was very nice, and the variety they had was incredible. They have pools, and they have recreation areas. For independent living, I don’t think anything can be bad other than the buy in part. The food was very good; they had a huge kitchen and they had a buffet. If you don’t like anything in the buffet, you can order something. If you can afford the buy-in, I would recommend it. Originally it was assisted living, but they changed ownership. They’ve got a 300ft theater, they play musical instruments, and they do plays. The facility is unbelievable.
