Springmoor is an awful place once you reach the Stewart Health Center, which is why many people live here (to have that continuing care). However life in the apartments is not that great either. Maintenance is not done correctly so you have continual problems. The food is ok, but could be better. And for a retirement center, with people that have health issues, it is NOT healthy food! The Stewart Health Center however is the worst. Patients are put in wheelchairs and sit around the nurse's station with no interaction, many not even knowing why they are there. When they need to use the restroom they are treated roughly (I have witnessed this) and shoulted at. Medication is not given at the correct time. Doctor's orders are not followed correctly. Teeth are not brushed for weeks. I could go on. It is about $5000 a month for a 1 bedroom apartment and over $7000 a month for the health center to live in hell. It was horrible to see. Trust me when I say to go elsewhere! I was going to file a complaint about the abusive nurse when he suddenly left his position and I was not given his full name. In the end, there was one CNA that was remarkable, but that was it. Very disappointing. Just a little compassion can go a long way! A little more information: There are two complexes, the north and south. You will get to know residents on your floor (and elsewhere). There are groups that get together so you have the opportunity to meet others and make friends. There are classes you can take (i.e. art and more). You will get a monthly newsletter detailing everything. You can also take thei Springmoor bus to go to certain stores or activities. As for food, you have two options. The dining room or the bistro. You will get about 4 choices in the dining room for your main course, but you can always have salmon or chicken. Then there are usually about 4 sides, plus a small salad bar and dessert. Food is usually filled with salt and often overcooked. If you are in the south complex as my relative was, they bring the food over from the kitchen in the north complex where it is prepared, so it has sat awhile. As for the bistro you can get breakfast or dinner items and they always have specials. It is hit or miss. It also depends on who is doing the cooking. You get to know the staff and know if it will be a good day or a bad day with the cooking. An omelet one day can be fantastic, and the same omelet the next day by a different staff member is disgusting. Elevators in the south complex are continually breaking (weekly) with people getting stuck in them. One night we waited and waited and the elevators never came. (The dining room is on lowest floor) Springmoor was not thought out when built. For a senior complex with many residents using wheelchairs or rolators you have a lot of sloped hallways. Even the parking lot in front of the south complex is of poor design. They put the speed bump in right by the area where you drop someone off with their wheelchair or rolator so many people have fallen there! There are a lot of options when moving in. You can have a house or an apartment (several different options with 1 or 2 bedrooms). You will be put on a wait list and must have a large sum of money to buy in. Don't get me wrong, there are some good things about the place, but they are considerably outweighed by the horrible end of life care. Noone should have to spend the rest of their life like that!

Springmoor Life Care Retirement Community is a very nice place. However, their waiting list was much longer than the other place we went to. The tour was excellent. The person that gave the tour is the same person that we initially talked to. She was really good and answered all of our questions. We enjoyed that facility. The exterior of the facility as well as the interior was very good. The thing is at Springmoor, there were two different facilities. The street cut in between, so one was on one side of the street and the other was on the other side of the street. We started in their library, we visited the dining facilities, there were two of them. We visited the exercise room, swimming pool, lap pool, and a little chapel.

My mother-in-law is in Springmoor. It's a high-end place, and probably costs $6,000 to $7,000 a month. They have beautiful grounds, it's a life-care community, and if we could afford it, I'd probably go there. We saw her a couple of months ago, we were allowed to sit across the room. They're not allowing visits right now. They have a very good staff, they maintain this place beautifully, and it's an extremely well-run facility. The staff responds very quickly at any request you make. You get what you pay for. The food is good, not gourmet, but more than adequate. They have large grounds, beautiful walking paths, they maintain their trees, gardens, and bushes. It's a beautiful place to live.

I have waited 7 months to write this review to make sure I can be objective. Averaging 5 stars for Supportive Living and Zero for Stewart Health Center, Springmoor gets 3 stars. If you are in Independent living or Supportive Living, Springmoor is a fine place. However, sooner or later you or your family member will end up in Stewart Health Center. You will be given very short notice regarding the move. This creates a huge problem. Stewart Health Center is not a place anyone needs to spend their last days. Our families experience was so horrific, it was recommended to us to file a complaint with the State of NC. The level of unprofessional and unethical behavior at the top levels of the health center are incomprehensible. We feel so deeply grateful to have gotten our family member out of there. Once your loved one is moved to Supporting Living start looking for place to move them. Why? Because Springmoor purposely gives very short notice that someone is being moved. It will take you a while to visit other places. Do not let the Health Center management convince you or another facility that your loved one won't be suitable or happy any place else. Our family member Is in a beautiful facility where management and staff care about her in word and deed. Please note for the list below, I am averaging based on the three levels of options at Springmoor.

We went to Springmoor. The staff was nice, but not as engaging as the staff at the other places. It's a little large for my uncle because he likes something smaller. I went to both the assisted living and the memory care facilities. There was a group going to an outing when I was there. The residents were very engaging and excited about their trip out. The dining area was lovely.

Springmoor was a nice facility. They had access to a nearby swimming pool, and they're planning to expand to have pickleball, which is important to us. There are two groups of buildings separated by a busy road that the people had to walk across, which is kind of a bad thing. Other than that, we liked the location in North Raleigh and it was more cost effective, so we are considering Springmoor. One bad thing is you need $15,000 to get on the waiting list.
