I visited this facility

Pennswood Village was good. They treated their residents like royalty, and they were very good to them. The staff seemed very nice. As far as cleanliness, it was very clean. Also, they had everything in there. They had an art gallery, their own post office there, their own gym, and a little restaurant there. They had a dining area for their residents, but they also had a dining area for when their family came. Their doctors were there. They also had a hairdresser. Everything was on campus that you would need. The staff who gave me the tour was very friendly and explained everything.

Pennswood Village was very beautiful. We liked the people that we met. The activities that they had were pretty standard but appealing. For us, this is the closest place to New York, so it makes it easier for us to get back to the city to visit friends and relatives. We also liked the fact that it's been there for a while; it's a more mature and developed community. The staff was excellent. They were very welcoming in setting us up to meet people, look at the apartments, take a tour, and get a feel of it. We visited the place two or three times. They just revamped their dining area. It's a very large space (both indoors and outdoors) and has an outside porch area. They're also in the process of opening another dining room, sort of a bar area. So, they have been doing a lot of renovations. The resident's rooms were not as modern as some of the new places that we've seen, but they're fine. We were looking at a two-bedroom, and it's the same size as the one we're living in now. It had a balcony. The food was very good. They had just changed to a system of ordering and having it made special for each meal.

Pennswood Village is a wonderful place. My parents' apartment was great. They had one of the largest apartments back when they were there. They're not there anymore, but I have clients and friends over there. Pennswood Village is a great place. They have topgrade stuff, but it is not cheap. The staff and the food are wonderful, and the amenities are great. They have a pool, an exercise room, and a library. They have a jigsaw puzzle that gets worked on day and night.

My overall impression of Pennswood Village is very positive. The rooms are great. My mother-in-law is moving into potentially a one-bedroom apartment with a full-sized kitchen and a small balcony overlooking a nice park. It looks like a very nice place. There is a ton of activities, a gym, and a pool. They have movies going on every night, tai chi, and water aerobics. They also have transportation and people signing up for different things. Their meals are cafeteria-style. They had three different entrees, so we all had something different. It was all very tasty. In addition to the cafeteria, they also have a sit-down restaurant. My mother-in-law saw the nursing home portion, and it's an impressive place as well. It was more like smaller, private rooms where they actually move their personal belongings in, so even if my mother-in-law moves to a nursing home situation, she will still feel comfortably home.

I spent almost a year researching retirement communities in Bucks County for my parnts, and decided that Pennswood Village was, overall, the best choice. Pennswood Village units are not inexpensive, but you get what you pay for in terms of very high quality staffing in every department (admin., housekeeping, dining services, landscaping, health services, and so forth). I was particularly impressed with Pennswood's larger apartments (two-bedroom, two-bath w/den & patio), though the smaller one-bedroom units are ideal for one person. Maintenance appears to be excellent, and the two meals Lunch & dinner) that I had in two of Pennswood's various dining rooms were quite good. The range of facilities and activities available is exceptional, including two indoor pools and a large gym, plus a well-stocked library, auditorium, greenhouse, woodworking shop, various other activity rooms, and carports for residents who own cars. The Pennswood Village complex is large and sprawling, so it is important to select an apartment close to the main "community building" if walking is a problem. In addition to the central facilities that house the Resident Health center, dining rooms and so forth, apartments are located in 14 buildings of various sizes (1, 2, & 3 floors) that are all connected.

I would not consider Pennswood Village. The food was horrible, and the dining room was depressing. The only thing I really liked about the place was the gardens around it. I was unimpressed with the apartments.

I visited this facility

It was very nice at Pennswood Village. I went there a couple of times, and the staff seemed extremely helpful and knowledgeable, and the apartments were large enough. I looked at several apartments that were empty and one that was filled, and they seemed very nice. It's a place I might like to definitely move into. It's just that I'm much younger than everybody there. We had lunch in one of the dining rooms, and the food was great. I liked that there was a formal dining room and also a café with different options and different places to eat. I didn't find anything there that I didn't like or uncomfortable with. My only problem is with the age of the people. Basically every other place that I wanted to go to was a fee-per-service kind of a place, and I couldn't find one like Pennswood where you pay upfront for the senior care.

My sister and her husband love Pennswood Village. I have also visited them, and it's just absolutely superb. I have plans to move in myself as well. They have everything offered to the residents. You buy an apartment, and they have a state-of-the-art kitchen and everything else. She has her own washer and dryer there. Her kitchen overlooks the patio, and it is a green area. I can't say enough; it's great. They do have a formal dining room, a cafeteria where you can eat in or take out, and a little café. They also have a library to die for and an onsite post office.

Pennswood is a great facility. We were able to visit the place, and we found out that it was the most expensive unfortunately, but the facility is probably is the best one we've seen so far. As far as the apartments, they are large. They have many dining rooms and a snack bar, and the staff was exceptionally nice there.

I felt that this facility was a very nice retirement community. The rooms were nice and the facility itself was very well kept. The staff was always friendly and said hello to us in the halls. The residents seemed like they were cared for and treated kindly and well by all of the nurses and other staff members. The residents had the option to live independently or with assistance which I felt gave them freedom to the usual nursing home. There were not one but two dining rooms for the residents to eat. The staff in each room was nice and the food was good. It seemed like they always had activities and events for residents to participate in and encouraged them meeting new people and trying new things. I thought the facility was very accommodating to all of the residents and their needs. Our family friend seems to enjoy where he is staying and is well taken care of.

The physical layout of the building is impressive. The dining facilities are wonderful. The caretakers, many of them from Quaker backgrounds, are truly wonderful people. I truly feel like my grandparents were loved at the facility, from the day they joined the community through my grandfather's memorial service. It is a shame that so many billboards excoriate long term care providers. Certainly my grandparent's were financially blessed enough to receive excellent care, and I understand that many have frustrating experiences with providers, but this facility is top notch. The exterior walkways were always meticulously maintained in the winter, and the whole place just seemed really friendly. It was amazing to see both grandparents, one of whom suffered from Alzheimer's, be able to spend their twilight years in such a dignified community.

This place has a beautiful campus. It's located near historic Newtown in Bucks county, Pennsylvania. It looks to be located on approximately 50 acres next to the George School. Upon arriving, the staff was very friendly and energetic, and it seemed to rub off on the residents. It has an indoor swimming pool and a lap pool, a state of the art exercise room. the rooms are spacious and accommodating. Although my grandmother was initially apprehensive about, She liked that she could interact with the local community (grocery shopping, going to the movies, etc.). They have shuttles also that take residents to the numerous places of worship in the area. The only thing I didn't care too much for was the price. A 1 bedroom ran around $200,000, plus another $3000 a month on top of that. We love her and only wanted the best for her. We also wanted her to stay close to us in case anything happened. So far, it's been a great experience, and I think we made the right decision.
