I am quite impressed with this place I live out of state and have peace of mind knowing my mother loves living here. My siblings live within the area. When I visit, I am impressed with cleanliness and friendliness of staff. There IS air conditioning, a huge library, game area, movies, small grocery store, bistro, resale boutique, church services, washers/dryers on each floor (2 sets at each end). The outdoor area is beautiful and peaceful. My mother's 2 bedroom apt has large bedrooms, plus dining/living area and small kitchen. I have eaten in the dining room and food was good, BLTs are excellent. My family has no complaints. Mom lives in OAK section.

My 95 year old grandmother is currently residing there fir rehab. I hate that she is there. From the moment you walk in its sticky and just feels dirty. There is a med tech there that is so rude to my grandma she cried herself to sleep. The med tech informed us she ran out of a pain medication and it will take 2 days to refill even though she is doing physical therapy and is in pain. This am they just informed us she fell. It wracks my nerves just stepping in there. If you can avoid it, PLEASE consider placing your loved one somewhere else.

My in-laws are at VMP Healthcare & Community Living (The Village of Manor Park). They enjoy it there. With the changes in season, it's gonna allow them to get outside more and they're able to park the car and travel away from there also. They're happy there. They seem to enjoy everything so far. The meals are provided and they're utilizing that service as well. It's a big facility and they have multiple services available. Where they are, it's more of an apartment arrangement. It's independent living with food services available and then they can move up into services that handle more assisted living and memory care as well. There are three levels there and they're at the lowest service one at this point. The facility has been there a long time as far as the premises. My in-laws are not utilizing too much there as far as staff is concerned. They aren't utilizing any nursing care, medical help, or anything like that. Security is good. They enjoy the food there. They do lunches and they also have an evening meal, but they require them to make reservations before they go earlier in the day. I'm not sure exactly how early they have to make them, but it's a requirement that they need to sign up ahead of time and make reservations. From their standpoint, it's not like you sign for a meal plan and you do all of them. You have a card and you buy it ahead of time. For special holidays like Mother's Day or Christmas, I wouldn't say they're always available. I think as a norm, they have meals routinely in the evening. I'm not so sure that I can say they have them any weekend or on special days. We were over there for Thanksgiving and there was no Thanksgiving meal available on Thanksgiving Day. The residents had to find other means of eating on that holiday. We get an indication they're tasty, but you better be eligible to either find your own way to eat on holidays or with other members or what have you or eat on your own somewhere. It's not like they're necessarily going to offer a meal plan on those days. The dining area is on the main level. It's in a larger area. They've got nice big windows where they can sit at tables by a big windowed area that they can look out at a real natural setting. It's pleasant. They have a weekly church service that you can attend at a chapel right on premises. It used to be a Methodist Manor, so they have an actual chapel there where they have a Methodist minister at that location and she does Methodist services there that they also attend on television. They show it and residents can view it in their place. They're also doing Catholic services. They have music brought in, in the dining room area. I know they have a grand piano sitting there in the dining room that residents could play, or they have others come in from outside to play during special events. I think around Christmas they have a program that everyone was made aware of and that they could all go down and enjoy some music. It's nice that they have the religious services that are over and above maybe what other places have especially run on-premises. It's an older facility. It's been there a long time. It was previously a religious manor for Methodist membership. It's been there a long time and in a city environment. They have a nice heated garage underneath for residents to park their own cars, which is over and above what other places I've seen. The hallways are well lit. The carpets are well maintained and clean. They have clean, ample washer and dryer facilities on every floor. If you are a walker or you can walk with a walker, there are a lot of hallways on several floors that you would have access to utilizing during winter or colder seasons. You could get out and walk the hallways and have quite a distance to go and utilize the premises to do it inside. My in-laws overlook probably one of the nicest vistas they have, which is kind of an inner park area where the building surrounds this grassy area with a couple of ponds, fountains, a little bridge, and a waterfall. I think they have some blossoming trees and it's a green grass area that gives them a nice little view. It's more neutral to browns, golds, and greens kind of colors. It's just an older version of an apartment arrangement, almost a dorm facility kind of thing. It's a nice facility and I think they do the best they can with having an older facility, but it hasn't all been completely updated to make it feel light and contemporary. It's more Midwestern and it appears to be quite clean and well done. They have mailboxes and locked doors at the entrances, and you have to ring in or have a pass card for security. They have multiple elevators that are all workable. In Wisconsin, the price is based on apartment charges. You have a separate card you'd pay ahead of time monthly for the number of meals that you want to purchase, and then you utilize that card as you want to eat. You'd use the card for breakfast or lunch, and then for dinner, you'd also use the card, but you have to make a reservation for yourself. I understand a lot of the people can either eat in the community space or up until this point a lot of the people are still eating in their rooms because they're worried about the COVID and having community together. They offer that as well where they can just box it up and take it with them. In general, it's a fairly inexpensive rate to live there from an apartment standpoint, and then to buy the dinner service, that's an add-on. If they had any kind of medical assistance like distributing meds or that kind of thing, I think that's all ala carte, which my in-laws don't participate in at this point. As far as washer and dryer, that's all included. At the end of each hallway, there's a laundry room. They just go in, put their clothes in and do them there. There's no charge for it. It's all anticipated within the premise's cost.

I visited this facility

VMP Healthcare & Community Living seemed very clean, but it's more institutional. There's a main desk and then it's all corridors going off from there. The lobby area was not as welcoming. I saw the calendars of activities and they were on par with everybody else. They have music, arts and crafts and bingo. The rooms were smaller, more like a dormitory. There's a little more wear and tear on the building. The building itself was a little older or looked a little older. They don't have central air, and that was an issue. The staff was very kind, welcoming and knowledgeable. They can improve on building maintenance. The windows looked pretty old and they have in-window air-conditioners with pieces of wood holding them in place. It looked kind of sloppy.

Although it looks like a decent facility, there are a lot of issues from meds not being delivered on time to theft of residents. It always seems understaffed and trying to get direct answers from management on concerns is at best hit or miss

majorly disappointed

Re: VMP- in extreme need of updating. Paint peeling & falling off walls in private rooms. Staff using paper charts, nothing computerized. Left doesn't know what the right is doing. Have to repeat same situation(s) concern(s) to numerous people as staff doesn't follow through. Yes they have pull chains in the patients room however if chain pulled it is transmitted to a central location & that person will send a page to the unit the chain was pulled in. If the staff in the unit is unaware the batteries in their pagers need replacing they have no idea someone is in need of help/assistance. There is a RN on duty 24/7 however 1 RN for 100 plus patients. There is a Nurse Practitioner staffed; there is not a MD staffed. Village of Manor Park is right there wanting there money every month; which is very expensive. Re: Memory Care Unit - memory care unit is almost double the cost of assisted living area. Aids for this unit are wonderful but are in desperate need of additional staff, an appropriate sized dining room and there own cafeteria. Personal that take you on a tour prior to you moving in your loved one will show you this wonderful activity calendar; speak up all the amenities and such but all things do not apply to memory care unit. Activities are handled by an Activity Director and take place in the Assisted Living Atrium but obviously memory care patients cannot get there by themselves and there is not enough staff to take them there. BOTTOM LINE-- NO activities for memory care patients. The aids in the memory care unit are not skilled in holding activities for memory care patients nor should they be responsible for this and do not have the time or space to hold any activities. Basically memory care patients sit in their tiny rooms starring at the walls, watching TV if they are capable to turn it on and off or sleeping in a chair. Again on the tour one will will be shown this nice dining room and cafeteria HOWEVER there is no dining room or cafeteria for memory care patients. BOTTOM LINE food served to them via a cart that comes from Assisted Living cafeteria to a VERY small and extremely crowded room with a few tables. The safety issue is a huge concern in this tiny room with all the walkers & wheelchairs. I would be very surprised to learn the STATE would approve this if they were to see it. I would never recommend this facility to anyone.

Village at Manor Park has everything, they're a continuum community and they have everything. We toured independent living, we toured their long-term healthcare, but we didn't tour their memory unit. They also have rehabilitation. The Aurora Health Care has a community clinic on their campus. It's a very large community, and we have been trying to get accepted there because it's certainly at the top of our list. And they will accommodated you. For instance, if they don't have the room you want they will put you someplace when you're ready to move, at least until a room opens up. What stood out to me was that the person we spoke to sat down and asked what we wanted, and we just dropped by there unannounced a couple weeks ago. The people we've engaged in the halls seemed to be very happy to be there. This is the place where the amenities excel every other place we've been to. They have literally a catalog, and they have a program for people of the community. They might take you by bus to the outskirts of Chicago to a play, they might take you to Madison, or other places. These are all the commercial buses, it's not cheap (it's $80 a person per trip), but that would include a meal. We have seen nothing that matches that in terms of what they offer. Also, their location is a few miles away from the Medical College, Froedtert Health Center, West Allis Memorial Hospital, and St Luke's, which is an internationally-known cardiac hospital. So the location is excellent, and they're in a residential neighborhood. The building is aged, and it varies. One of the unusual things is that they're connecting their newest routing with another independent residence that they have abridged over the drive. It's actually a very large and pleasant space that takes you over, and they have ground parking. The rates there are unbelievably low, and include ten meals a month, for a rate of $2,200. And the apartment they made arrangements for us to see was very adequate. All of their buildings are connected either by a bridge or by tunnels. They have a fitness program, a bistro, and a formal dining room, and their chef has been there 15 years.

Village at Manor Park was a big community and had all the facilities. My mom used to have her own apartment, and she also had rehab. I used to have lunch with my mom and the food was fine. I felt like I knew more about my mother than the caregivers there, they weren't totally up-to-speed on things. They have people that would volunteer to come in and play music for the residents, they also play Bingo and games like that.

Village at Manor Park was a neat, clean, and pretty facility. I saw the dining room, which had a grand piano in the dining room. They were playing music during lunch hour, and it was very nice.

Village at Manor Park catered to individuals that are recuperating from hospital visits and so forth. They also have long-term and short-term care. Very nice and very good staff. They had PT areas for the geriatric care as well.

A friend of mine will be moving to Village at Manor Park. The size of the place was large enough for her. She got a one bedroom and she like that. It's an older place and I think it could use some updating, but it's very clean. They were already re-doing the apartment. They were repainting it and she was getting I believe new carpeting.

My uncle reside at the Village on the vent unit for over 5 yrs......I know now why his body broke down and he had ulcers that were horrible, he was a tube-feeder and therefore required excellent mouth care, however he did not get it, when he died we saw his teeth and they were horrific. It is so unfortunate that we have such uncaring people who works in these types of placing. The majority of the staff does little as possible so forth as care is concern and some of the aids have the worst attitudes when you complain. They stopped getting my uncle up in a chair and he became bed ridden, there was a great director who was there but had left.....(some hispanic name) was very good and caring, but that and the unit has changed but for the worse. I guess in a way I am glad and relieved that my uncle is gone for he did not recieve the proper care. They took advantage of the Patient right to refused and would not brush his teeth, (which began to fall out) wash his hands and God's knows what esle. Unbelievable!!!!! Very Poor care on the Palmer Vent Unit.........

Village at Manor Park is a large facility on the southwest side of Milwaukee. It has many levels of care. There is independent senior living, assisted living and nursing home. I have blind cousin living in the assisted living center and is quarantined a bed in the nursing home when the time come.Bill, has a beautiful room overlooking the court yard which is can only see the light and the dark but says he enjoys the sounds of the people out there and being out there in good weather. The faculty is geared to his condition and has made accommodations for his needs such as making more things in Braille so he can get around more indecently. He says the meals are excellent and the staff is very pleasant and helpful. He had lived in the home for the blind most of his life but says that "The Village" is much better and he feels safer there. He attends a variety of activates including bingo where he has a Braille bingo card and also plays "sheep head" with other men using Braille playing cards. They have many holiday program music programs which Bill says are great. He is very happy and satisfied at the Village at Manor Park.
