Glen Arden is top of the line. That's a beautiful facility. The apartments are beautiful. Everything is perfect. It's a little pricey. Obviously, that would be the top one that my relative would pick. If you're going into assisted living, that would be the place to go if you can afford it. Unfortunately, they're so expensive, and that one you have to put a downpayment on. The rooms are like apartments; that's what I like. You either have a nice patio or a little nice terrace and that's important to him. It's like being in a hotel. I like that. The staff was wonderful also. I didn't have a meal but they have a very formal dining room, which is beautiful. They have a little bistro kinda cafe, which is nice; you can grab a hamburger there. Quite a few people were in there. It seemed like a lot of people seemed to like that. The facility was very clean.

I visited Glen Arden, had lunch with them and talked to some of the residents, and they're very happy. They had assisted living, but you have to rent or buy your apartment and move up to all three levels of care depending on your needs. The initial investment is over $200,000, but it's a really nice facility, very homey, and had a very positive atmosphere. The residents I interacted with were very positive about their experiences. The food was okay. The staff was very pleasant, very helpful, and answered questions. You're allowed to have your own car and if I got really sick and needed more nursing care, I'd advance to that step within the framework of the apartment I purchased. If I die a couple of years after I'm in there, a lot of that money is reimbursable to my family. If I outlive that money, they keep me, I don't get thrown out even though there's no money left. They'll provide housekeeping services and linen changes and provide the next level of care like an aide or go to 24-hour nursing care if you get sick. They'll move your car and take the snow off in the winter. They offer bus services and recreational program. It's a really nice facility.

IIt breaks my heart every time I watch the marketing ploy reigning someone in. Glen Arden has been cited for their unethical and unapproved marketing tactics on at least one occasion. The prospects they are bringing in to turn a quick buck are so physically and medically compromised that many aren’t making it a matter of months before needing long term nursing level care and/or are expiring. Before you invest a lifetime of hard earned money into this operation, I can’t implore you enough to take the financial disclosure statement to a CPA — they will undoubtedly advise you against making the move. Sadly, after many years of mismanagement of money, Glen Arden’s financial standing is deplorable. They have been operating far outside of regulation for years now. They ardently refuse to be transparent about the current state of financial mayhem even to those who are sadly vested in the institution with no way out. Review the CCRC minutes and please visit your trusted accountant. We cannot do anything about the mess we are in, but hope to help the ‘next person in line’ not live with the same daily agony we do. The food is terrible and on the steady decline, they have not been able to provide transportation (no bus) for upwards of 9 months (that means no handicap accessible transportation or outside trips as promised. All major infrastructure within the building is decrepit. HVAC companies are in the building just about daily to put ‘bandaids’ on heating and air conditioning systems throughout the building. The ‘medical alert’ system works on a chance basis. Bottom line, they will sell you on a vision of what things used to be like but are no more. After years of top heavy management sucking the place dry, the accounts are officially siphoned.

Glen Arden was good and very nice. The staff member who showed us around was very nice and the food was very good. The dining area looked like a restaurant. They have an indoor pool, exercise room, salon, and a woodworking room. The rooms are nice sized, clean, and modern.

My mother was a resident there for 6 years. When she required more care, her lifecare contract was terminated and we had to move her. Lifecare is not guaranteed as promised. They are a sham.

My father has been living at Glen Arden for eight years. He is very happy there because there are so many opportunities for social interaction. In addition to movies, in-house cultural entertainment and day trips to local points of interest, residents often organize small groups for those who would like to share a hobby. For example, there have been current events discussion groups, book groups, and groups that meet to create art, crafts, and poetry. I have met many residents and many staff members, and everyone is positive and supportive. The atmosphere and physical environment are lovely. Our family appreciates the thoughtfulness put into this well-run facility.
