I am/was a resident of this facility

I have lived at Cypress Cove. The buildings are yellow. It is near a wildlife preserve, and it has access to major roads. We get one meal a day. There is a pool here and an exercise room that's very well equipped. We have a medical clinic where you have access to nurses and doctors a couple of times a week. There is a lot of encouragement and opportunity for physical education on different levels. The aides that I interact with most often are very nice, gentle, and cooperative. I feel as though the dining rooms, hallways, and so forth are not designed for seniors with mobility issues. They're not as safe because of the way they're designed. I have several food issues, like gluten and lactose issues, and there are a lot of seniors who have specific foods they need to avoid. They could do a better job there, but the food is fresh. If it is not, you can send it back and get it heated up. They have weekly church services for several different faiths. The medical services have really improved in the last year. The transportation system does an excellent job. We have free transportation for medical appointments and that sort of thing. We have lots of physical activities. There are staff that run the activities, but there are also activities that are run and organized by the residents. We have a small market that's totally operated by the residents, where you can get different kinds of food items. We have outside entertainment and performances occasionally. There are six different district meetings every month that encourage feedback from the community. We have someone who helps with computers. This place has been established for 25 years, and it's actually one of the two leading ones in the Fort Myers area. It's not inexpensive, but at the same time, I don't think I could live in a privately owned residence for what I do here.

Cypress Cove was very nice, but it was very expensive. It's got high ceilings, so it's kind of open. It's very clean, smells good, and is decorated beautifully. The staff was very nice and informative. They have a beauty salon, therapy, classes, and entertainment. They have everything you could want. They have a swimming pool and therapy rooms.

I have had friends in Cypress Cove. It's beautifully appointed as far as decor. They redecorate quite often. The amenities list is very extensive. They have pools and gyms. There's even a wood workshop for the men, which I have used personally with a friend. They have informal and formal dining, which is probably when I was last there, one of the best kitchens in town. I eat at a lot of country clubs, and it would match any country club dining room out there. The apartments are spacious. There are a lot of windows. People decorate their doors with wreaths and other things seasonally. There are extensive activities and onsite cultural activities. The thing I like about Cypress Cove particularly is the independent living is one main building and you are eating in the same facility that you're living in however you want it.

Cypress Cove was a gorgeous place. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it except that it's expensive, so I was not able to afford it. It's beautiful. The apartments were very, very nice. They have more square footage than most places. They have everything you could want. It's just unbelievable. The food was excellent. They had several dining rooms. It's quite large, and it's very good. Plus, it transitions from independent to assisted and then to nursing care. The staff was very bubbly, very happy, and very nice. The people that live there are also very nice. You stop and you talk to somebody, and they have only good things to say. The apartment that I wanted was a one-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath. It had a lovely kitchen and a nice area outside. It was on the first floor because I have a dog and it was absolutely perfect for me. Upkeep and maintenance were excellent.

I liked Cypress Cove At HealthPark Florida the most. I know some people that are in there. It has two restaurants, both of them are very good, I ate there, and they're very nice. They have a lot of activities there, it's really lovely. Their apartments are very nice and a good size. It has a pool, they have a lot of activities like bridge, and all that kind of stuff. They have tickets to plays that you can go to. I just liked it. The staff that I spoke with were very nice and the ones at the restaurant were very nice too; they were good. The food was very good and it's a beautiful facility.

My mother was fortunate to be admitted to the Skilled Nursing Unit for short term rehabilitation following a hip fracture. She was there for almost a month. I have spent my professional career in Senior Living and admit I’m hard to please. Cypress Cove exceeded my expectations. Caring, attentive staff, pleasant, clean and cheerful accommodations and an outstanding Therapy group made this stay an absolute success. David Gray, the Administrator, and all the staff were among the best I have known. I’m happy to recommend Cypress Cove... RHM

Provider Response

Thank you so much for the five-star review, Bob. We're honored to hear about the positive impact our community had on your mother during her monthlong stay with us. As someone with firsthand professional experience within our industry, your feedback speaks volumes about the quality of care and services we provide. We'll be sure to share your compliments with David and the rest of the team. All the best to you and your loved ones!

My wife's mother was a resident in the "cottage", the memory care residence for 21 months. Her stay was very good up until the last month of her life. We found care during the last month of her life did not address her pain sufficiently and did not come close to meeting our expectations. We finally moved her to hospice house care on January 10th and she passed on January 18th. Clearly, we learned that very active family involvement is necessary if dealing with medical issues out of the ordinary. I am writing this review on February 25th, over a month since she passed away. To date we have not received a call or even a card expressing their condolences over her death. Additionally, she has a refund coming as rents are paid in advance. I have called asking for timing on the refund but again, no response. Given the cost of care...we expected much higher standards from Cypress Cove!

Cypress Cove is slightly older, maybe like 10 or 15 years old, but it was very nice and very clean. The people there seemed friendly and the residents all seemed kind of happy. I had an arranged appointment to see the place, but when I went there they didn't know who I was and I had to wait for 40 minutes before I could talk to anybody. It just seemed kind of disorganized, maybe because they're busy with their residents, but I didn't get a very good vibe there. I took a tour of the first floor, they showed me the dining room, and there was a little recreation area, like a hangout kind of place. It all seems nice and clean, and the people were having a good time.

It is a wonderful community for those who are healthy and active. Sadly as you age, staff isn't as caring and it is very difficult to find the people in charge to help you when the ones you are dealing with really don't care about you. We are taking care of our Aunt, who is 92 and recently went blind and needs assisted care living now at The Inn. What bothers her the most is after dinner, they have all those in assisted living wait in the lobby and when they are all there, they give them their medications. Our Aunt calls it the "cattle" call. Why? Are they short staffed and do not care about one on one care? Yes it's beautiful however its the people who truly want to help you when you need it. Since we live out of state, we are going back and forth and having a difficult time with the process. Right now, as long as you are healthy and independent, it's wonderful. If you need assistance, it's horrible to deal with those in charge and get answers and caring people who truly are concerned about the person. Futhermore, our Aunt, who is now blind, fears retribution from staff!!! I have asked for a list of staff members, top down and have yet to get one therefore I have no idea who to call for help in our concerns.

Provider Response

Cypress Cove is pleased to have had an opportunity to reach out and review the concerns you expressed. The foundation of success at The Inn, and throughout our life plan community, is to maintain one’s dignity and respond to the individual needs and preferences of our residents through our person centered care approach. Each day we strive to achieve this by providing our residents a service with heart and compassion.

The rooms in Cypress Cove were pretty good, but they were a little smaller. The staff who took us around was very professional. She gave us information and told us that if we needed more information she would come back to us. We only saw their gym, and it was well equipped. It was very close to the hospital where my dad was.

We went to Cypress Cove. It was beautiful and the best known one in the Fort Myers area. It was $6,000 a month, which was on the high end. Their price was higher than anyone else in town, but the amenities were beautiful. People who I had spoken with in my doctor’s office waiting room loved it there.

In 2012 I helped my parents find a continuing care community that would fit their lifestyle and need for an active social life. The care and attention shown during our tour and fact finding at Cypress Cove was the best of the communities we visited. While my parents were in the independent living part of the campus, they did both have a need to temporarily transition to skilled nursing. It was refreshing to see the consistency of caring and attentiveness given during their time in skilled. My father has since passed, but my mother continues to enjoy a very active social life with the various clubs, activities and trips. The entire team at Cypress Cove displays a "happy to help you" attitude and demeanor with each and every resident. Everything about the community is 5 star through and through.

The Inn of Cypress Cove is totally different than other places because there is a large entry fee, but it's one of the best ones that I've visited. The food and everything was excellent, but it's very expensive. You have to have a really high net worth to be accepted at Health Park. I visited a couple of two-bedrooms, and I thought they were very spacious. They will do your laundry and some housekeeping. This is the one place that impressed me the most. If I was going to go into an assisted living community, this would definitely be on top of my list.

I visited Cypress Cove. I thought it was homey, it was nicely kept up, and the staff seemed very nice. It was just a very good facility. Everybody there seemed very happy. They had everything there, e.g., they have a crafts room and a card room. It is a facility that I would have chosen, but because of my condition, I would not be acceptable. I looked at the rooms, and we ate there; everything was excellent. The dining set-up was very nice. It was just like a country club.

We loved Cypress Cove. It was very clean, and the people were very nice. It’s a bit costly, and that is always an issue to buy into these with nothing in return when you have to buy your residence. We liked it very much; there was no issue with it except the cost. They were very pleasant, cordial, and informative. I had a list of questions, and there were no problems in answering the questions. We were quite impressed. There is a couple of different dining rooms -- one for the assisted living people and one for independent at this point. The dining room appeared clean; they had a regular dining room, and then they had a luncheon area where you could go more casually. It would have a nice view, and I can’t say enough about it; we just like everything. They claim they have a wonderful culinary staff, and the couple of residents that we saw said, "you’re going to love it here. The food is delicious.".

Cypress Cove was near Healthpark which is a hospital here in town. It is probably about 10 or 15 years old. I like the way the person I talked to presented herself. She gave me a lot of information on what's available and pricing and how to go about it. I went to one of the rooms that are available and the types of rooms that they have available which were very nice. Everything about the facility was very nice. The rooms were good. They could be furnished but on the norm, they were unfurnished but the rooms were a decent size and they were very nicely done. There were some card games and then they had a small library. They had a function computer area and they had a nice, big courtyard in the back of the facility that they could be outdoors.

I am in Cypress Cove and it is unbelievable. It is a five-star independent/assisted living. The food is restaurant style where you order off a menu, and it is delicious. It is like being on a cruise that doesn't sail. They have all kinds of card games: bridge, poker, or any card games and so forth. They have Bocce and shuffle board. They have a library, a bank, and a salon here. I mean, there is nothing that you have that we don't have here. Really, it is fantastic. We have two restaurants. The rooms have been renovated completely. The kitchens and the bathrooms all have granite countertops. It is all brand new carpeting. I got a two-bedroom apartment, which is a decent size, with two walk-in closets. They have all different sized apartments here; one-bedrooms and two-bedrooms. Right now, there is a waiting list because there are a lot of new people coming in. It is very nice. The workers are very polite, very efficient. All the waiters working here are high school or college kids. Then, they have some permanent staff, so it is neat. They are all dressed appropriately. I have recommended this place to a number of my friends, if they want to come, because it is not cheap.

My parents visited Cypress Cove, and they liked it. I think it's a high-end facility. It's very expensive, but it appealed to my parents. The rooms were very nice, spacious, but expensive. The staff is very good. I think they impressed my parents with how they take care of the people. They have a pool, daily activities, and they provide transportation, and it's on a lake.

I am a friend or relative of resident

Beware! My grandmother was a resident of this facility for just a few short months, and I was not pleased. Each time I visited there was never anyone at the front desk. The first time I went I had to ask the nurse to direct me - which she kindly did. Oddly, there were 2 coffee containers by the front doors, but I never once saw cups for visitor use. For the amount of money, the rooms were not very attractive. Granted, they were private and the family was allowed to bring in personal items, but the overall appearance was dull and tired. In hopes of cheering my grandmother, I brought in a picture she gave me from her living room years ago. It was a copy of Renoir's "Girl with a Watering Can." I hung the framed print on her wall. She passed recently while I was out of the country. My mother, in her distress over losing her own mother, forgot to retrieve the picture. We called the facility as soon as I returned (1 week later) to ask about it. We were told that any items left are considered unwanted and gotten rid of. I was devastated! Monetary value aside, it was the sentimental that I lost. My mother spoke to the head and requested that they initiate a policy of keeping belongings for a short period of time in case of a situation, or at the very least call and ask the family. The head replied that this has happened before, so they "probably will." What did they do with this precious painting that had my grandmother's name on the back? Did they throw it away? Did housekeeping keep it for themselves? I will never know. We also experienced a few other concerns with care (my mother is a cardiac nurse and she knows her stuff) that were unsatisfactory. In addition, unless you ask about dietary information, they will not share some important information - like you can ask for items not on each day's list of options. Thank you to the dietician who assisted us with this. When I was in college, I worked as a receptionist in a long-term care facility in Ohio. That was a place of dignity. Cypress Cove, the Lodge, does not live up to my expectations of care.

I was first introduced to Cypress Cove last December when I was asked to sing at their church's Christmas service. Since then I have been working with them quite a bit! Cypress Cove is both a Retirement home/community and an assisted living facility. The work I do there has me working very closely with both the staff and the residents. The staff are wonderful! They are incredibly helpful and you can tell how much they care about their residents. They have frequent programs to keep their residents having fun (like bingo and board game nights) as well as the programs that I do (singing short programs of opera). I've only been in two of their many buildings (one of the assisted living buildings and their big hall) but they are both very nice and, from what I can tell by the cheerful attitudes of the other residents, they all love the facility.

This place is really elegant. No other place can be compared to this. It's not expensive but not cheap, if you are saving for your retirement. This place sits in acres and acres of land with lots of walking path. There are fountains everywhere and an indoor pool, too. It has its own establishments inside for your personal needs. This retirement community is next to Health Park Hospital, which is an elegant hospital. It has a separate building for assisted living and rehab. Moreover, there's a separate restaurant that you don't need to clear out by 5:30, and you can stay until 6:30 or 7:00. The food is just out of this world. They prepare 4 soups daily and make their own ice cream. There are various different accommodations here and all are lovely. Some units have 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. There's also a villa or a house if you opt for this kind of housing. All accommodations have dryers and washers, too. You can't imagine what it doesn't have. To close, the staff is just fantastic. They have quite a bit of extra-curricular activities. There's an activity director who plans everything. Examples of activities include: visitors coming in to sing and play music, games like bingo for those who are able and willing to do it, arts and crafts, baking day and even tours to shopping malls and restaurants. I can't think of anything my husband will be happier. He gets lots of attention and really seemed to like the staff. I will surely recommend this place to others.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My aunt was a resident at the Inn at Cypress Cove for a number of years and was very happy there. If you are looking for a high-quality assisted living facility in southwest Florida, you cannot go wrong with the Inn at Cypress Cove. In addition to a variety of independent living options and a skilled nursing facility at the Lodge, Cypress Cove offers an absolutely wonderful assisted living facility at the Inn. The grounds and the facility itself are gorgeous and immaculately maintained. The staff was always very pleasant, friendly, and helpful. When her health deteriorated and she transitioned to the Lodge, she was still readily available for visits with her friends from the Inn. Although she had been initially reluctant to move into the Inn, neither she nor any family members ever regretted the decision. I understand that decisions regarding care for elderly family members can be very sensitive and emotionally trying, but facilities such as the Inn at Cypress Cove make these types of decisions much easier for everyone involved. If you are wrestling with these issues, I highly recommend a visit to the Inn so you can decide whether this is the place that meets your needs or the needs of your family member.

My aunt was a resident at The Inn of Cypress Cove at Health Park and I visited her there often. Her unit was lovely and quite luxurious. The staff was always very helpful and eager to please. My aunt loved to eat and she often raved about the quality of the food. Although she usually ate in the dining room, she did sometimes prepare snacks or breakfast in her unit, taking advantage of the mini-refrigerator in her unit. If she was feeling under the weather and preferred not to eat in the dining room, room service was delivered to her unit with her menu selections. All of the grounds and the buildings at Cypress Cove are meticulously maintained and very attractive. The facility is located in an area that is basically adjacent to the Lee Memorial Health Park hospital and could not be more convenient in terms of nearby doctors' offices of all types. If you are looking for an assisted living facility in Fort Myers, Florida, you should definitely visit The Inn of Cypress Cove. I doubt that you will be disappointed in what you find available there.
