I visited this facility

We like the quality of Cedars of Chapel Hill. The facility was large enough. We liked the larger size apartments. They have a theater, a chapel, and a banquet room. They have a lot of outside trips, and people come in and do shows or concerts. They have limited space for planning your vegetable garden and two ponds. They are going to have a bird area where you can do bird watching.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

At The Cedars of Chapel Hill, they had waitress service in the dining room rather than a line-like cafeteria. They had private dining rooms if you have a family event or a book signing for a friend. They also had a pub and it's more like a bar. They've got a bartender to pour whatever kind of cocktail you want and you go and sit down at your table with your friends. My friend had a three-bedroom apartment. The only drawback is that you own your apartment or your cottage. You're not renting it and when it's time to leave, you have to find someone ready to buy it at whatever the value is of it. It is a for-profit facility. She and her husband were in a large apartment, but she had 24-hour assistance with him because he had Parkinson's. The aides were paid separately. They were not part of the facility at all. They were in an independent living apartment. They all knew everyone's name (at least in the dining room). All the waiters and waitresses referred to the residents by their names. They had a wonderful library and they had an I.T. assistant who would work with people in the library finding what they needed on the internet. There was always somebody at the front desk. A lot had their own private cars, so the residents went in and out a lot. They had assisted living, but I didn't experience that. I also had a friend in the nursing care facility and that was lovely. She was in there twice and they gave her the same room. It was a large room. It looked out right onto the pond outside. It's very sunny and very well appointed. It was like a bedroom. She even brought some of her own pictures and hung them on the wall while she was there. It was more like a large bedroom but you had a nurse there who was taking care of you. I ate there a lot and the food was very good. They had a nice auditorium for putting on programs and the organization I'm with did musical programs there. The price was steep though. There are a lot of people moving in there from New York. It somehow started to attract people from the North. Even if they're up in New York or New Jersey or Chicago, they will move them down and put them at The Cedars. My neighbors put their father there. There are a lot of younger people who put their parents there.
