I visited this facility

We visited Green Ridge Village. I liked that it is woodsy. It's continuing care, and we hope to go into independent living first in a cottage or duplex. They have a beautiful view of the woods. There are a lot of walking trails around a huge property, part of which they rent out to dairy cattle grazing. It's very pastoral, very nice. The cottages go from one-bedroom one-bath to two-bedrooms, two-baths, some with another room on the back beyond the kitchen, dining room, and living area. You can have a larger room and pay a higher fee as entry fee, or you can also choose a lodge. They're quite fancy, quite nice. You can go in at almost any sort of independent living that you care about at this place, and you can find almost any level of amenities that you want in the house. They supply appliances, it's electric. There's heat pump heating, and it's all paid for, the heat, the water, the trash. It's all included in your buy-in and your monthly fee. The meals aren't included, but you have a full kitchen in your cottage, or probably in your apartment. They have apartments. There's a meal plan. The basic plan is a couple hundred a month and it probably covers about half of your dinner meals. It's only one meal a day for independent living. I guess if you were in assisted living, you'd get all your meals, but you can expand the plan to make sure that it would cover more days. I think most people like the flexibility of being able to still dine out and not feel like you're wasting money if you don't care to eat there every day. We absolutely would give it a five. Before, they would have to drag me from my home so I would never go to such a place, but this is so nice and so independent. It was just like changing or buying another house, except it will be in a more peaceful place than the one we own right now. The person that took me around, couldn't have been more helpful, and more knowledgeable about how things were. She encourages us to call with any questions. She's answered every question and just couldn't have been nicer. The tour was scheduled for 11:00 AM and it happened on a day when they offer a brunch where a chef cooks omelets to your taste and all that stuff. So, we went to the dining room, and we saw an old friend of ours there. The person giving us the tour said, "Oh, go ahead and have lunch with her." It was on them, so we got it. There just couldn't have been anything nicer for us. They gave us what we wanted, and it was well prepared. We know some ladies there, and they're in their eighties and nineties. People that age aren't known for being anything but crotchety, and they all just love it there. What I'm trying to convey here is, I never wanted to move from my home now. It's only six years old, and we built it to our specifications. I thought I would live here forever, and I thought my husband was crazy for wanting to go to continuing care when we were both still active and young. But this just looks like a nice thing to do to get to a peaceful place where we don't have to worry about our finances for the rest of our life or what will happen if we have to go into care. It's just something about the woods for me that's very welcoming. They have rules; there are no firearms and no smoking. It just seems like a peaceful place where you can feel safe.

I visited this facility

Green Ridge Village was a nice facility, but the staff was pretty annoying. They had a pretty extensive library, and that was cool, and they had game nights. They showed me a couple rooms that were pretty empty.

I visited this facility

Green Ridge Village was very homey and very clean. They had two different places, one was a big old mansion, and one was a regular clinical type home. They're both wonderful. The staff was just really professional and wonderful. Everything was perfect. They had reading sessions, a doctor on-site, and entertainment. They post the meals.

I visited this facility

I visited Green Ridge Village. It was beautiful, it was a different setup, and they had nursing home. It was not exactly what I wanted. The cottages were very nice, backed up against the woods, they had a wooded area, and they had a back patio. They serve meals every day. You have to buy the lease, and it makes a difference. They have a swimming pool and a gym, but it was a little more than what I wanted. It just wasn't a good fit for me.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother was at Green Village, and it was supposed to be one of the best ones in the area, but about one third of the staff was OK, one third was good, and another third was bad. They seemed to be chronically under staffed especially at night time. When we would come around, they put all the nurses and aides in the cafeteria, and mom would eat in a room, so there was no help for those three hours around the meal time that was a bad experience for us. The community was maintained fine, and the other thing that we didn’t like was that it was all hard floors, so mom broke both hips.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My father is at Green Ridge Village. It is a very nice facility. It has everything my father needs at this time, plus he could move up to more critical care with time, which is important. The staff is very warm, receptive, and knowledgeable. Every time I called or visited, they always were on top of the game and knew what was going on. There is no reason at this point to question the care that my father is getting. They have visiting physicians so we don't have to go out that often than other for specialists. They clean his room, they do his laundry, and they fix all of his meals. He really doesn't have to do much other than wash himself in a week. They take care of everything else for him.

I had visited Green Ridge. It was good. Everybody was very helpful. We visited several cottages, and they were extremely adequate for our circumstances.

This facility was less clean than some I had seen over the course of the months since my grandmother had her stroke. The nurses and the certified nursing assistants were completely overworked and understaffed which is horrendous but typical in this field. My grandmother was assessed repeatedly and proactively treated by the nursing staff. The medical attention she received was great when she was at the end of her life however we noticed some bias from the nursing staff which seemed to stem from the decision to receive hospice care. This made many of the staff members at the nursing facility act differently and almost accusatory towards our choice (and my grandma's choice). Overall it was an extremely nice, overpriced and well kept facility. For the most part the staff were nice, but did not the the administrative support they deserved and needed. If I have to do it again I would still have my grandmother placed in this particular facility.

I visited this facility

The staff at this facility was wonderful. The amenities were superb. Although I was touring with my mom and dad, I was trying to figure out how I could relocate there myself. The food was very good and the other residents were very friendly and open to offering suggestions and helpful hints. The location of the facility appeared to be in the middle of a corn field, yet it is within minutes of a mid-size city. The main limitation for my family was that the dementia unit was not a certified day care unit. Instead, if you wished to use the dementia unit (for my dad), then he would have to live there 24/7. He could not live with my mom in an apartment at the facility and go to "day care", due to a liability issue. He would be required to live 24/7 in the dementia and my mom could visit. That did not work for my mother.

Visited this facility

I had a personal associate that lived here with her husband and her dog. They loved it! Their apartment was spacious and accommodating to their needs. The food service dining room was always set up very nicely and the staff was always very friendly. The residents that I saw when I visited were always smiling and seemed very happy. There seemed to be several social groups and activities. The facility is in a picturesque community that includes ponds and walking paths. They also seemed to allow pets which is nice because the residents don't have to part with their furry friends to move here.
