I visited this facility

I toured Fleet Landing. They're very accommodating. The apartments were all open-concept and beautiful. The kitchen and living area are kind of one big space. They have a beauty salon, activity areas, and an indoor and outdoor heated pool. I'm more familiar with the events because once you're waiting, you are invited to X number of events, so I'm more familiar with what they have to offer. I've eaten there several times and it's always very good.

Fleet Landing is a very nice, well-kept facility, and people there seem to be very happy. We were in the newest building, and I believe appliances were all provided. There's a washer and dryer and nice kitchen. The staff who took me around did a very nice job. We ate there, and it was lovely. It was very nice. They have pool, and they have a lot of activities. It's very well run, and they seem to be very sound financially.

I visited this facility

Fleet Landing is a new and very attractive property. The part that we were looking at was called Beacon Pointe, and it's a new building. Half of it was finished and being lived in, while the other half was being completed by the construction company, which would be open by the end of this year. We were looking at apartments versus individual homes, and the apartment that we were looking at was a one-bedroom, then the next one up was a one-bedroom that had a den. They're brand new and well designed, but I just felt that it was overpriced. The dining area was well appointed and the food we had for lunch was delicious. We had a very positive experience with the staff and the place was immaculate. I went to a room where people can draw and paint. They have an exercise area that's very well equipped, and their woodshop. The outdoor spaces were very well landscaped and very attractive too, but what I liked the most about the place was probably the way that it's designed and it's a five- minute walk to the beach.

I visited this facility

We loved Fleet Landing but they had no availability. They just had a brand-new apartment unit that was going to be available in the summer, and everything was taken, but this is the place the woman said that she knew there would be a couple people that would be backing out. The plan looked beautiful, but it is $535,000 to go into an apartment, and I thought that was just a bit much. We loved the area, and then you could walk maybe a block and a half/two blocks if you wanted to walk to the beach. That was my favorite, but I didn't feel I wanna spend that kind of money to live in an apartment at this time of my life. I'm just looking now and trying to get a feel of what's out there. The place is very nice, they had a beautiful pool, they had a big lake where they had a fountain, and people did take little paddleboards on it if they wanted to. We saw where the assisted living was. It's not all brand new, but they are also now in the process of building a new, big area where they're gonna have their activities, all kinds of activities, brand new, beautiful. We saw their dining room and that was very nice. Fleet Landing was close to an A, but what pulls me back is they want so much money to come in. The staff was very nice, she took us all around, showed us everything we needed to see, and as she was showing us the layouts of the apartments, I said I kind of like that one, so what would that one cost? $535,000 for one person, and $565,000 for two, and then you had like $4,500 a month you had to pay in addition to that. Not that I couldn't afford that, but I wouldn't be that stupid to throw my money into something like that at my age. If I was younger maybe, and I'd get more use out of it, and more time, but that's a huge amount of money to fork out for independent living. That was the only negative of that place.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

We chose Fleet Landing for my mother because the place is close to my two brothers that live in that area and for the quality of the amenities they have. The dining room and swimming pool are handicap accessible. The staff are excellent. The rooms are very spacious. They have some outdoor space. We had dinner there and the food is very gourmet quality. This is probably the most expensive facility in the Jacksonville area that I'm aware of.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My parents love it here. It offers them a way to be independent, socialize with other people their own age, be active, and also have help when they need it. They offer classes and have social events for the residents. I feel very good know that my parents are being taken care of. I also love the fact that I can visit whenever I'd like. I do show up unannounced, just to make sure they are being taken care of properly. I also love the people that work there. They are very nice, educated, and friendly! My parents feel safe and at home there. I'm glad we found such a great place for my parents!
