My father is currently at The Moorings of Arlington Heights. I've been impressed with the people so far, especially compared to where he was at for rehab. They check on him perhaps more often than when he was in rehab. The director is accessible. The admissions person was very helpful. In general, the facility is gorgeous. It is nice. The dining room is great. They get a choice of meals. Just all around, we've been impressed. My father is in a one-bedroom, but they have a variety of rooms. With regard to activities, he's not participating, but there are a ton of them. I've seen the schedules and everything. There are a lot available. They have a library and a beauty salon. They have a lake with a walking path around it. We got to see the food my father got and the options that they have, and they're pretty impressive. For what you're getting for the cost, it's reasonable.

I visited The Moorings a couple of years ago before COVID hit. I was looking at it for my mother-in-law. I loved the grounds. I loved the fact that you could walk around, that they had gardens that you could work in. It was very open, and the residents just seemed quite comfortable, and that went for independent care and assisted. Mary really went out of her way to help us out, but knew all the residents, and would say hello or say this is a person that might be able to help you with that question, and connecting us to the community. The dining room was very comfortable, casual, but nice, and it looked like assigned seating. But I did not eat there, we just looked at it. It was definitely showing age in a few places, but overall kept very well, and it was clean. They have a bar that you can sit at. Besides meals, they have housekeeping services, and there are three different levels of care in the assisted living.

I was here for four months in the healthcare portion of the system, recovering from the loss of strength due to a severe bladder infection. I needed a place with physical therapy to recover my strength. The CNA’s, the staff and the therapists are excellent. I became quite friendly and social with a number of the CNA‘s that I saw regularly. Room is perfectly fine, the food is quite good, and the coffee is excellent. I have gotten strong enough to live on my own again and I will leave here in a week

This review is to help families looking for Memory care: The Assisted living /Memory support is a beautiful facility and some of the caregivers are compassionate. If your loved one has dementia/alzheimer's this is not the place for them! They do not have the training or the staff to handle this. The memory support unit is still only an assisted living. They don't tell you this when you sign the contract but as the disease progresses they will want to move them to their skilled nursing building which is nothing like the assisted living or the memory support they sell you on in the beginning. (please visit and you will see) You'll want to find a true Memory Care facility that is trained in dementia/alzheimers and will care for til end of life without moving to skilled nursing as they progress. While in assisted living they didn’t provide physical therapy, occupational therapy or much of any support unless you want to move the skilled nursing or want to continue to call and fight for it. The communication between staff is non existent. Nobody knows who is doing what. There were several times when the CNA's didn't know what our Moms needs even were. There is very little communication between the staff and the family. We never met the executive director. The director called her by her wrong name the whole time she was there. We didn't meet the Health services Administrator until 2 years later, when he told us she needed to move. We wanted to be happy with this facility and we were a very friendly family to deal with but I believe it is too big and my mom was lost in the chaos with nobody there to advocate for her. When we moved her in it seemed great and clean with plenty of help. When we moved her out there was no staff around at all and it smelled terrible. It seems it has gone downhill with a lot of staff turnover. Best of luck in your search!

We visited The Moorings of Arlington Heights. The rooms were excellent and the food was good. They had a recreation room, exercise room, pool tables, and games. There were plenty of activities.

The Moorings is very nice and has independent living, assisted care, and nursing facility. I've eaten in the dining room, and I visited several rooms there. They have an exercise room, a pool, and a large movie room in the assisted living. The staff is very professional. It's bright, cheery, clean, and the records appear to be well kept. They have musical programs.

The Moorings was a nice place. There wasn’t anything particularly negative, except that I thought it was pricey for me. They do a nice job, and they have been there for years. They are a little pricey, but they are providing a little above average type of place for people who could afford it. At my end, I just don’t think I have the resources to go there.

We didn't like The Moorings. They said that we didn't have a million dollars in assets. It didn't feel friendly. The entrance fee was too high.
