My parents have already decided to stay at Spanish Cove. They have tailored things to my parents' liking, and, as far as I know, their food is fine because I have eaten there. I don't know much about the staff except for their marketing person because they are in independent living. They seemed very concerned about their clientele. I just like that it is very down-to-earth, and they have friends there.

My wife and I have lived at the Cove for five years. We made the right choice. We have wonderful, caring, and involved staff. Many activities, great food, and a very friendly and informal atmosphere. The goal is to keep residents healthy and living independently as long as possible. The monthly fee in independent living is larger than some other places because part of the fee is a tax deductible prepaid medical expense. So when you go into assisted living or nursing home, your monthly fee hardly increases. Spanish Cove is a nonprofit trust of the city of Yukon, so no outside corporation is making a profit off of us. Three of the trustees are residents here. So it will continue to be user friendly. Oh yes, I have visited the nursing home many times. I have never smelled URINE.

While the facility it self is rather beautiful the administration staff is under qualified and rarely around to handle any issues. Most of the floor staff was rather pleasant however most of the nurses are inexperienced and it definitely shows especially when you voice concerns about your loved ones. The residents spend most of the day in their rooms alone, there are a few activities during the day one of which is walking up and down the hall (fun right?) The food wasn't ideal and the housekeeping is almost non-existant soiled sheets of my incontinent family member were left on the bed for several days, the toilets are stained with urine and your feet will stick to the hard wood floors in the dining rooms in the Long term care units. getting any sort of medication changes or proper care was nill and I removed my loved one from this facility

I'm an independent living resident of Spanish Cove, and have been for 13 years. I have had relatives and friends in both the assisted living and the nursing parts of the facility, and have seen nothing but excellent care there. It's not always perfect, but it is better than any other facility I have had experience with. For life-care residents, the assisted living (AL) and nursing care (NC) areas are provided when needed at no extra cost other than extra meals and the like. Both AL and NC are available for persons who have not been residents, provided there is space available. There is a charge for those persons, and it is consistent with prevailing costs of similar facilities. Activities and entertainment are provided, and religious services are held on Sunday.

My mother is in Spanish Cove, and she is the first person in the skilled nursing. They have it for people who are part of their three level of service, and they just opened it for skilled nursing. The care is excellent; that is why we choose it. It is probably the best care we can ask for, but one thing in private pay, it is expensive. Spanish Cove has more upscale residents. So, you will see people there who have more money than normal. It is not a Medicaid facility.

I would love to move in to Spanish Cove. I liked the people. I liked the services that they provided. I liked the coverage of the monthly fee. They covered everything except internet, and internet was available for $20 a month. I would recommend it to others.

I have a friend who lives in Spanish Cove, and I have been there a lot. It is kind of a bedroom community. It is a life care facility, and it is very nice. I tasted the food and it is excellent. However, it is very expensive.

For most people Spanish Cove is a wonderful place, since I was not yet ready to live in a facility. I have gone there and to played bridge, and I liked that they called me many times when they need a player. I liked the beautician there as well as the library and a lot of other things. I thought the staff like the nurses were nice. However, the housekeepers do not do a good job at all. They do not clean the carpet and they were in and out in 10-15 minutes. I did not like the dining room and the meals too.

I moved out of Spanish Cove after two years. It was so bad that I left my whole upfront payment behind. The location was fine and the staff was accommodating. The food was not too great and they couldn't get a cook who knew how to cook. The accommodation was okay, but it was old-fashioned. They didn't have washer and dryer, there was no tornado shelter, and the elevators were so old that they couldn't pass the state's safety inspection.

My parents moved in recently to Spanish Cove Housing Authority. My husband had aunts and uncle there and I had several relatives that lived in this facility, and they were all very pleased. But we didn't realize that we could get my parents in because it is marketed as long-term care facility where you buy-in upfront. I called and they happen to have an opening.

We have been independent residents of Spanish Cove, Yukon, OK for almost four years. Yukon is in the Oklahoma City metro area, and is a wonderful community in it's own way, but the closeness to Oklahoma City provides additional opportunities for entertainment, shopping, athletic and medical needs. The Cove, as it is called, is wonderful. We have met many new friends, there are more opportunities for events here than you would have time to do, wonderful staff that are so ready to help in any way, short and long trips on a first class coach, regular weekly shopping trips in Yukon and I could go on and on. The assisted living and nursing facility are far above average! I can only urge you to come and check us out before you make a decision for retirement living anywhere else.
