I am/was a resident of this facility

I looked around and talked to others about independent senior living. And then I moved to Friends Village. We live in a one bedroom cottage with a den and bath and 1/2, a garage and a gas fireplace. We have a yard where my wife loves to garden and where someone else mows the grass! I like the many available activities (everything Bocce to guest lectures and weekly day trips to arts and crafts and excercise classes.) We get to decide what we want to do and participate in making decisions about how we live as a community. The dining service is manned by an energetic and friendly crew who will go out of their way to make dinner like eating out with good friends. In sum, we live an active life in a beautiful campus with great friends and neighbors that's located in a friendly little town convenient to the shore, Philadelphia and Wilmington. What else could I ask for?

I am/was a resident of this facility

I live in a Dorchester cottage, which means I have two bedrooms, two baths, an open living room, dining area and kitchen, a den, and a garage. Having lived in a three story farm house for 65 years, this was no easy transition, but certainly a wonderfully smooth one. My daughters often spend several nights with me, doing projects and enjoying each other. One daughter enjoys creating my flower beds, both of them help me with inside chores. The garage is a bonus, for careful storage, and a car that's ready to go. Beyond the housing bonuses, life at the Village has many great points: the kitchen turns out wonderful meals that we enjoy in the atmosphere of the dining room. Our PT women provide excellent exercises involving strength training, stretching and balance. The Residents Association and Activities Department work together on weekly movies, craft projects, and monthly trips. My life here is good!

I visited this facility

I went to a luncheon at Friends Village at Woodstown. We did the assisted living and the independent living. The assisted living had more like private hospital rooms. The independent living apartments were absolutely beautiful. The one that I was in had an individual bedroom, a separate living room, fireplace, kitchen, an actual dining room, a garage, and a patio. It's like a home. The staff was excellent. She had lunch with us, and there was another couple at my table. It was just a very, very informative time. They had different speakers, including some people from The Village. It was just very informative. I haven't seen anything quite like that. The food was good, and everybody at the table agreed. I don't know if it was just for us that day or this is the regular menu. It was very good. It was a good luncheon.

I visited this facility

We went to Friends Village at Woodstown, and it was very nice. It was expensive, but it was absolutely beautiful. Cleanliness was impeccable, and there's a very high level of individuality (you're able to individualize your rooms). The staff was very, very nice and very professional.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I visited a friend at Friends Village at Woodstown. It's very clean and nicely appointed. The dining room was beautiful. The staff seemed very friendly and nice. The rooms were pretty and they had little houses there, too, for the independent living. The food was very good. They had a chapel, a library, a very nice big dining room, and a few outside areas that were nice. They had apartments, and there's a building of apartments, too, for independent living aside from little houses. It's very nice. I know that they had singing activity because I heard them do it.

I visited this facility

Friends Village At Woodstown is a very nice place, but it's a little too expensive for me. They have outings and the same activities as other places. I looked at the size and the price of their one-bedroom unit, and the memory care as well. Their dining area is nice, and they have an award-winning chef. Everybody is pleased with the meals. They provide two meals a day, you can either have breakfast and dinner or lunch and dinner. If I had the funds, I would be there now, that's how nice it was. The apartment is bigger than the one I'm living in. There's a $7,000 entrance fee and if you run out of funds while in assisted living, you would then go to Medicaid. They would provide the care you need while you're still in independent until there's an opening in assisted living. Everything was on-site, and there's a home health person, which is nice. If you needed 15 minutes of help, like just for getting in and out of the shower and help with your medicines, they would come in for a short amount of times. Of course you would have to pay for that. The staff was very friendly, including the people cleaning. The apartment that I saw was very nice for a one-bedroom. They had all the amenities like a library, a room where you could sit with company, and a room you can reserve if you want to have a family gathering for a meal and they brought the food in.

I visited this facility

When we went to Friends Village, we found out that it was too expensive for us. This place is mostly for people that have either a lot of money or have a lot of assets that they can liquidate. It was a great facility, absolutely beautiful! It was a very big complex and very well kept and clean. They have a very nice area outside where people can sit and socialize. It was set up very well and it seemed like you're living in a community. I like best that you can go as assisted living and if you need it, you can go right into their nursing care facility. People there were very friendly.

Friends Village is excellent. It's very very clean. The food is fixed daily and it's very good. I've eaten there several times with my mother. They have a very good reputation in our county. I knew of another lady who is living there now. We wanted the best for our mother. If you need to get a hold of a nurse, she comes right down. If something comes up and we want to ask questions, they answered all our questions. I'm very comfortable with them. There was a time when mom had to go to assisted living because she had health problems. She was there for 2 weeks. The care was absolutely perfect. They were there always. They're kind and gentle as you would want for your mother.

These providers really go out of their way to make the residents feel comfortable. Private rooms are available, the laundry service is prompt, and they take a personal interest in every resident. Food quality is also above average of what I have seen at other facilities. There are many different visiting rooms available to accommodate each patient's needs and/or preferences. There are always multiple activities to participate in, and the staff usually joins in as well. Physical Therapy there doesn't even seem forced or tiresome. My grandmother, who is extremely difficult to please, even admits that she like the staff, food and activities. That is a comment we NEVER expected to hear from her. This is a truly wonderful facility and we are very lucky to have found it.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My mother has been a resident of the Friends Village independent living cottages for 1 year. It was her decision to go to a continuing care facility and it was the best decision ever! Her cottage is beautiful, the community is clean and well maintained. The dining room is gorgeous and the food is excellent. The staff is attentive, courteous and friendly. It really does seem that she has gained a new family. I visit with her every week and have never found anything negetive. Her living there has given me the peace of mind that I have wanted for many years. If she wants activity and company it is always available. I would suggest that you take the time to visit this community!
