I visited this facility
Stoughton House looked suitable for my mom. One of the things we liked was the private rooms and private baths. It seemed to be a caring staff, and they seemed to have a lot of activities going on. Very homey atmosphere, but it is right in the middle of town, so the grounds aren't really a plus. The rooms range in size, but they seemed clean and bright. She does have to negotiate some stairs and kind of narrow hallways. I know they had a varied menu, and it rotates monthly, so you don't get the same meal.

our mother lived there for four years. Assisted living means NO RN (registered nurse) on duty, not required. Only LNAs. Staff not very interested in the patients, only a handful. If your young enough to take care and not need help, it's an okay place, a lot of care slips through the cracks. Evaluating is supposed to be done every year to patients to make see if they are starting to need more help, when more care is needed find a new home. Our mother fell numerous times, ended up with a compression fracture, had a cough a month long with no one looking into a Drs or called family. ended up with severe dehydration, bladder infection and pneumonia. Clearly not enough care watching over the elderly.

I am a friend or relative of a resident
The place is nice enough with some quality fixtures. However they do have at least 3 separate buildings and they tend to market the nicest and oldest of the three. My grandmother is in the newest building and everything seems very nice. They have a group pet cat who is nice and the food is pretty good. They have a nice selection of rooms and overall the other residents are very pleasant. It is exactly what you would expect from a New England home. As another pro the bank is directly next store and their is a CVS next to that if you are in the new building so the residents can easily walk to the bank and to the pharmacy/food-mart for little snacks or whatever they might need. From a visitors perspective they have plenty of off street parking and have no real issues with taking your resident out for most of the day as long as you can remember to sign them back in. something i always forget lol.
