I visited this facility

I saw the Benchmark Senior Living at Woburn. I thought the facility was wonderful. The woman who gave us the tour was great. They had a lot to offer. The one I interacted with seemed lovely. They had a lovely courtyard. A group had just come back from the memory care unit for a little trip outside. Some were in wheelchairs, so it didn't impede the fact that residents who were in wheelchairs were still taken out for a little drive, which I thought was lovely.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father was at Benchmark Senior Living at Woburn for respite, and they were great. I talked to probably ten different places and they were the most personable, and they honestly made it feel like we were actually looking for a place in a community, and that they were sincere. They were just overall very friendly, answered all my questions, and were helpful resources. I had no idea how to navigate the whole scenario, but they were super helpful, very accommodating, very patient, and real good people to work with. His room was nice, bright, and clean. The building was pretty new, and so everything was updated with giant bathrooms. Actually, he had a studio, but it was still enough space for him. They organized a little theater show in December where people could sign up, they had music, happy hours, and different activities where they try to get people to engage. So, I think that's a good thing.

We have chosen Benchmark Senior Living at Woburn. My mom will be in assisted living. We're in the process of moving. The people are very, very friendly there. We met a couple of the residents, and they were very nice and outgoing. We liked the rooms and the staff. We didn't try the food, but we saw the menu and everything; there was quite a lot of choices, so we were happy with that. They have different activities each day. They have outings.

I visited this facility

I went to Benchmark Senior Living at Woburn. I looked specifically at the memory care portion of it. Unlike some of the other facilities I toured, where they have regular assisted living and memory care, I felt like at Benchmark, they really value the memory care side of things and put a lot of thought and energy into it whereas at some of the other places the memory care side seems like a little bit of an afterthought. The person who gave me the tour was named Drew and he was wonderful. We emailed a few times since then and he's just been great. He was probably one of the main reasons I liked the place as much as I did. The rooms were very nice. Compared to some of the other places, I didn't love that you have to furnish it yourself. It doesn't come with much in the way of furnishings, so that's an additional cost. I thought the facility seemed very clean and very comfortable. The memory side of things seemed appropriate for that level of care as far as not too much in the way of overstimulation. It was relatively quiet but well-lit and clean. I was there right after lunch, so the dining area was a little messy, but they were cleaning up. But it was a nice open space that had a little bit of a homey feel. They had all sorts of things. They had live music that was going to be coming later in the day. They have an outdoor area where they can spend time in the garden, they have barbecues out there, and then there was a class going on when I was there, like a light fitness class. It seems like they have plenty of things to keep people busy.

I really like Benchmark Senior Living at Woburn a lot. Unfortunately it was in Covid lockdown, but we like it a lot. It seemed to be very nice. They had a really cute community center, a pub area, different nice gathering spots, and a movie place. They had a nice spot for when you are not in your room, you can be alone. They had nice outdoor space and a bocce court. The staff members were excellent. It was new, so everything felt very fresh and clean. I thought it was laid out very nicely. Everyone seemed to have privacy in their room, but they were still near each other. It just had a very nice feel.

I chose Benchmark Senior Living at Woburn for my dad because I like the location; it's right off the highway. I like the people. They all seemed very friendly. I also like the whole activities schedule, and the whole place in general. They do all sorts of things like puzzles, crafts, they have trivia time, game time, and then they go out and do activities. Today they went to a steakhouse, and they also went apple picking, and it was great. They have everything, like a dining room where you can eat three meals a day, and they provide snacks. There's a bar where they have happy hour every day. They also clean and they take care of your medication. They do everything and you don’t have to worry about a thing. The food is OK, but for the kind of money that you pay, I think it should be a bit better, like maybe there should be more variety. I don't think my father quite understands the menu, so he just keeps getting cheeseburgers.

Other

I left a bag of snacks in the tv room by accident and the workers allowed orher residents to go through it and take things out of it!!. That is dangerous. People could be allergic to something in something in the food. Whoever thoe residents are that took the food i just hope they are not allergic. I thought that was very irresponsible of the workers that just sat there watching them go through my bag!! Plus the food they serve there is cold!!

Provider Response

My mother is in Benchmark Senior Living at Woburn. The community, the administrative staff, and the assistants are all excellent. They have multiple activities every day and they have multiple activity rooms. They have exercise classes, arts and crafts, lectures, speakers who come in, and a wide variety of activities for seniors to choose from. They have music, entertainment, everything. She's in a 1-bedroom apartment. The pricing for this geographical area is average.

Benchmark looked very nice, although there was very little outdoor space. It looked beautiful but kind of lifeless. The rooms were typical, and the kitchenette looked nice and new.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother is at Benchmark Senior Living at Woburn and has been for the last month. It’s very nice, clean, and brand new. The people are so nice and friendly. She has not been doing well mentally, but it’s been the last couple of weeks that she was really taken of. She’s met some good people there her own age; they’ve really bonded, and she is a completely different person. They have different sizes of apartments, and my mother is in a deluxe studio which has plenty of room. She has a little bit of a memory issue, so it’s a perfect size for her. It fits her bedroom furniture, a lovely little couch, and her television. The room is beautifully appointed. It has a little kitchenette and a big beautiful bathroom. They all have to wear a GPS on them on their necklaces. I hadn’t seen this in other facilities when I looked at them. They have a hair salon and a gym. They had a kitchen where they had cooking classes on Saturdays, and a couple of days this week, they baked holiday cookies. Near the lobby, they have a nice sitting area with a big screen TV, and they have their happy hour there at 4 or 4:30 every day with hors d’oeuvres and entertainment. Then they go into dinner where the dining room is adjoined with this room. On each floor, there are a couple of sitting areas where there’s a couch, chairs, and a television, and you can get out of your room and go sit somewhere else. Everybody stays together. My mother can easily go out around the building. They have walking tours where they’ll put them all on a bus and go over to Holland Pond and Winchester or walk around the pond which is nice. This week, they’ve gone to a play. They have TED talks. They have people that come in and every day, they have an hour to talk about the news and have a discussion. They have a church. They’d take folks who want to go to church to church. They have a rosary for a half hour. They have trivia with the receptionist every day. They do a lot of things to keep the intellect stimulated.

I visited this facility

Benchmark Senior Living at Woburn was very nice and very modern. The people that I did meet were very friendly, very open, and nice. I did see their model rooms, and they were very beautiful. They had some snacks, and they were very good as well. Everything was so new; it was very good though. The dining room was very big and very spacious. It was very convenient, and that is why we chose it to visit because of its convenience to where I live and where I am located. The person who I dealt with was very straightforward, very nice, and very upfront. She still showed us the place even though when she first came across some of the numbers, and they were negotiable numbers, but they were just a little too much for me and my parents to handle each month. It was a fantastic facility, they had everything, and they answered every question that we had. I can only imagine that when the facility does open it would be everything that they said it would be.
