I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My parents moved into The Springs at Wilsonville. One key factor we chose it, is that it's right in Wilsonville, which is where he and my stepmother lived for some 30-odd years. So they didn't have to leave their environment, which they were comfortable in. My dad can still go to his morning coffee group every day, so that was helpful. The second thing gets back to their health situation, where my stepmother's Alzheimer's is advancing and my dad's mobility issues are advancing. So both sides of the family wanted to make sure that there were eyes on them every day. This facility happens to have one half of it for assisted living, and the other half for memory care. So while they're together right now in assisted living, when she needs memory care, she can just be across the courtyard from him. They have two levels of assisted living. Their sales point of contact there when you're starting this process is extremely knowledgeable about assisted living and memory care. He was extremely knowledgeable about the psychological hurdles that seniors have when they're confronting this decision. He knew how to approach the difficulty of the decision-making process to make it easier for my dad. They seem to know how to create a good work environment, which is important for everyone there. The food is good. I've seen their activity calendar. It's expensive.

I visited this facility

I toured The Springs at Wilsonville. It was nice, but the rooms were too small that my dad would have to share. They were really small, and there was no bathroom in the room. They would have to leave the room to go to the bathroom, and so for us, that was not a good thing. They had bathrooms that were common in the outside area, but not in the individual rooms. The Springs at Wilsonville was huge and very nice. It's top-of-the-line nice. They had everything that I like. They had a theater and a barbershop. It was a big place, but the only thing I did not like was the bedroom. It is small; it was pretty much a bed and a dresser and that's it. The bathroom was not in his room, he would have to leave, and that was not good for him because he's blind, so for him to get up in the middle night to go the bathroom, even though they had people there, but that's just not what we wanted for him. Otherwise, we would have probably picked that place if they did. I didn't get a chance to speak to the staff or anybody because it was COVID and they would not let us into the rooms or to talk to anybody. The lady that assisted me there was very nice and very knowledgeable. She knew what the place offered and everything. She was very helpful. Unfortunately, we couldn't go into the room where he would have been because of COVID. I didn't get a chance to even see the other residents or the other caregivers. They were really good but they're just lacking those couple of things that we felt were very important to our dad.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My friend is in The Springs at Wilsonville. It's wonderful, very clean, very neat, and they've got great staff. We've been observing that place for six years and it's been just outstanding the whole time. They have activities every day, like craft classes, music, and entertainment. They had the annual Hawaiian luau party just recently and Memorial Day barbecue. It's very good. We go there and eat with her about every three weeks. We've seen the food consistently over the last four years, and it's been good. They have a head chef who's doing a good job. The previous chefs have done a good job, too.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I am currently living at The Wilsonville Senior Living Community. So far, it's very good. I am happy here, and as a matter of fact, I have extended my stay. The staff is excellent. They have all kinds of activities for us. In regards to the quality of the food, I would say on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the highest, I would give it a 7. For everything else, I would rate them highly.

I visited this facility

This facility, which offers independent living, assisted living, and memory care, is located 20 miles south of Portland. The setting has a quiet suburban feel, with plenty of parking provided for visitors. The Wilsonville has an interesting history. It was started in the mid-1980s by two doctors and until recently, was privately owned. The founders wanted to provide a high level of care and not be concerned with profit; they were concerned that the medical needs of residents were not being addressed. One was looking for a facility in which to place his own mother. Although ownership has changed hands, the founding philosophy endures. It feels very calm when you enter, like a well-managed building, but it is a bit dark"”and winds around in a slightly confusing way. When you walk in, there is a foyer, where residents sit and gather"”and there is responsive staff nearby to direct visitors and answer questions. The facility is constructed so that there are lots of little areas where people can sit and talk; that part is done very nicely. There is a large living area where residents often congregate; they are not in their rooms. There is also a movie theatre and ice cream shop onsite, and the dining room is set in a formal style with linen. The staff members are responsive to family members and outside caregivers, and have an inordinate amount of compassion and interest in the residents and seem to know what's going on with each of them. They are sincere in wanting to help residents and to be sure they are receiving the right level of care. The LPN asks questions and has ideas to share about particulars of care. Another good sign: There is very low staff turnover. There is memory care on two levels: mild and severe, and unlike a lot of places, here it does work to give the residents apt and challenging activities if they are able. Outside of memory care, though, the activities are adequate; there are regularly scheduled offerings, nothing spectacular, although there is a men's group and a women's group. The food is very good"”and the bacon gets especially high reviews from the residents. The cost is reasonable for the quality of care provided.
