I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother-in-law has moved into Elderwood Village at Bassett Park. I was very impressed. I was handled over there by Erica, who I believe is the administrator. We've only been there a couple of weeks, but the staff seems to be excellent. They've tried to help us in every way they could. They came out twice to assess my mother-in-law. The first time, they kind of turned her down because they didn't think that she could get up out of a chair. I called them up and told them that day they were there, she was just having a bad day and she can get out of a chair, and if somebody just comes and gives her a little bit of a boost, she gets out of her chair into her walker with no problem. They agreed to come out and reassess her. Erica, who is their administrator, came out and when they came, my mother-in-law got up all by herself, walked around the room with her walker and everything was fine. So, they accepted her. I thought that was great. They hit availability rather quickly and made the process easy. My mother-in-law's living space is fairly small, but there are plenty of other rooms. She's got a nice lounge right outside of her room with a big screen TV in it and everything and a lot of people. She was having problems before she went in there. But once she got in there with a group of people that are around her age and she is 100 years old, so far there's been like a complete transformation, and she was happy. She's always been a social type of person, so she enjoys talking to the people out there. At first, they put her assisted, assisted living enhanced, which we paid for. Then the administrator came out to us, gave our check back which was $5,400 at first, and said, Destroy that check and write us another one for $3600, because your mother-in-law doesn't need the care that we thought she was going to initially need. So, she's just in assisted living right now. There's a $150 extra charge in there for something, but that has to do with some of the care she's getting. But we're very happy with what they did there too. I had lunch with four people out there one day. My mother-in-law was 100, the other lady said she was 100, might be 101 or 102 she wasn't sure, and the other lady was 96 years old. I sit at the table with them. I thought the food was terrific. The staff, they were good people. I don't see any problems at all with the place. I don't know too much about their activities, but I know my mother-in-law's been involved with the bingo and Wii bowling. She's been involved with a lot of things, so she seems very happy. In terms of value for money, it's very good. Most places we had talked to were more money, and so far it seems very good. Although they did tell us there's going to be an increase as of the first of the year, they told us approximately how much it was going to be, but that's fine. It's not that far from where we live, it takes us 15 minutes to get there, but it's not a big deal. I like the area where it is in Williamsville, and it's just a nice setting. It's kind of in a wooded area and kind of like country almost. It's very nice. Their aides and staff out there have been very friendly to my mother-in-law and very nice to her. I can't say enough good stuff about them. I know I have only been out there a couple of weeks, and things can change. But, so far, everything gets my high approval.

My father lived at Elderwood Village at Bassett Park for only a day. I thought the staff members were very knowledgeable. It was very clean. They had a lot of committees to keep people busy. They were very nice, very pleasant, and very helpful. They offered a lot of activities, bingo, and everything. The overall service was very good. I was hoping my father would be able to stay there, he was not, but it was a very nice facility.

I visited this facility

We liked Elderwood Village at Bassett Park because my husband saw many men there. That's our number one reason and many of their residents were walking around. So, it was more of a community. They proceeded to tell us that they played cards, etc., which appealed to my husband, and it felt like a better atmosphere than the other places that we visited. The facility was very accommodating. It's very nice and very clean. There were no odors whatsoever. The one problem I saw was that the shower had about a six-inch lift so my husband would have to step over, and that would be a problem with him because we have a walk-in tub here. They have a place where they would be able to take him into a community shower and they would take people that have issues with the shower there. Not with a bunch of people, but the help would be able to take them there and shower them down. The staff was very impressive and willing to help no matter what. We needed a wheelchair and there was a workman there, and he was assisting and got one for us immediately as soon as we asked. Erika, who was the administrator, was very accommodating and willing to work with us. She spoke with us at length and told us to think about it and that she would assist in any way she could.

I visited this facility

Elderwood Village at Bassett Park was pretty decent. It was a good area to get to. It was kind of out in the country. The person that helped us was fairly new on the job for doing that, but she did well. In one of the units, the bathroom was on one side of the room and it was kind of too far away from the bedroom. The rooms were not set up very well. They had some activities going on at the time.

My mom is here and the care is excellent. The facility is clean, no smell… super kind and friendly staff. I am so glad we picked this facility. I would highly recommend it. She does not participate in many activities but there are several every day. The staff check on the residents. All thru Covid- the staff was great!

Elderwood Village at Bassett Park is not where I wanted my mother to be. The lower level of service was not going to work for her. The surroundings are adequate, the facility was clean, and the staff was very knowledgeable and courteous. The rooms were normal size and clean. The environment was open and friendly, and it has several open rooms, or areas where people can gather. They had a beauty shop and a small gift shop.

We had a wonderful visit here. The staff was willing to work with you and was extra caring. I love them. The activities were wonderful. They have a lot of bingo and exercise classes, movie nights, and buses that took the residents wherever they wanted. The rooms were of a nice size. They were single rooms and all were private, which was nice. They have an on-site barber shop and beauty salon.

I visited this facility

I have visited, and they have basically one room. I don't want a one room; I wanted the bedroom separate. They are basically a one room apartment, and they don't have a kitchenette. They just got one room and a bathroom right off that room. Basically everybody had almost the same things as far as the activities goes. I actually viewed it on the cleanliness of the rooms, the cleanliness of the place, and the personnel in the facility. They are all good. I didn't care for it because when I saw they only have one room, I didn't take the whole tour. I wanted a one bedroom. Everybody is very friendly, very nice, and warm. But when I heard they had just one room, I didn't care for it.

Dad has been here for about 3 to 4 weeks now, and he's doing very well. The moment we walked in the door we felt welcome, and we felt the warmth of the people that work there. We talked to some people that had relatives who lived there previously or were currently living there, and it was just a positive experience in general. Dad has met some nice men who has had conversations with and shared meals with, and they have a wonderful veterans group that has been welcoming to him, so he's getting settled in. I'm very pleased with them. The place was more like a house than an institution. It was warm; it has a living room, an aquarium, a bird cage, people watching TV, and playing cards. It was very nice. They have wonderful, home cooked food on-site. I had a couple of meals with dad. His favorite thing is the breakfast because he gets a hot breakfast every day. He's gone to the veterans group a couple of times, but he's not really a joiner, and he's a little bit solitary. So I don't believe he has joined them tin anything other than maybe watching TV or movie.
