I like The Westland House. It would have been my second choice. The staff was friendly, and the place appeared to be clean from what I saw. The rooms were nice and large. They check on their residents five times a day, which I was impressed about. My interaction was limited to the person who showed us the place, and she was friendly. The people when you walked in the door were also friendly. We saw the cafeteria. I like the fact that they provide snacks for the seniors even after their mealtime hours. So, at night, if they got hungry, they were willing to give them snacks. That's good for them. They have various activities also for them.

The thing I didn't like about The Westland House was it's five stories and the ones that were open were close to the end of a hallway. They had individual dining on each floor, so you would only interact with the people on each floor instead of everybody together. You could order food to your room, right to your bed, so you didn't have to go to the dining room. They had nice apartments. The lady showed me a studio and a one-bedroom. The size was a little bit smaller, but they had a nice layout, and I liked that they had pulled chains at the bed and in the bathroom. They had an activity room, but that was on the first floor, too. The building was just a little bit older.

I toured The Westland House. It was assisted living, but it didn't meet my father's exact needs. However, everyone was friendly and very informative. I saw a couple of rooms, and they were a good size. They would meet the needs of having an assisted living place. They were good. The common dining area seemed nice. It looked more like a restaurant. The grounds seemed fine. They had a courtyard, but no hiking trails or anything like that. When I was there, I didn't notice any activities.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father has been in The Westland House for seven months now. They're reasonable with their pricing. The staff is sometimes inexperienced, but for the most part, he's getting probably better care than he did at the other place. His room is nice. It has a walk-in shower, a bathroom, a pretty nice-sized room, three closets, and a balcony. Unfortunately, he's not able to utilize it all because he's immobile. Other than that, he has a nice place. My dad has physical therapy, but I think that's outside of the purview of the facility itself. But they make sure that the physical therapists come in and get to him and do what they need to do. But as far as the rest of the residents, they have a lot of activities that they have these people participating in because every time I go there, the lobby is full of senior citizens just chilling out in the lobby. They are well taken care of. Some of the people that they have working there are inexperienced, and they don't take their job seriously dealing with the people that are there, but some of the staff that I met were very professional and very caring, and they take very good care of my dad. However, I've always seen a vacuum in the middle of the hallway. When I go see my dad, even though he can't move and he can't get out of bed, the cleanliness of his room sometimes is questionable. I don't think that they have a full-time person designated to housekeeping.

My mother is at The Westland House. I like the fact that it catered to all the needs that I was looking for. They have a beautiful dining area and a nice seating area, and the residents engage with each other. They have a beauty salon. Everyone there has their own apartment and that's what I like about the facility. They just need to incorporate more activities, but I understand because of the pandemic and different things going on of that nature, it kind of slowed things down. A lot of places don't offer certain things because of that. The food was very appetizing. I ate some of the food and it was very good. They have a good menu and I met the cook and the nutritionist. It's a very nice setup. The staff is very caring and compassionate. I really can't speak about the activities because they were searching for an activities director. They did have one come in, but then they lost her as well. Hopefully, they'll catch up with that. It's a very clean facility.

I went to The Westland House. I like it. The rooms are beautiful. The staff took me in there. It was nice; it was just beautiful. She took me through the whole building, it was super nice. I think there's a fifth floor and she took me up on that. They're remodeling, which was nice. You can go outside to a certain area and a smoking area, which was super nice because my brother smokes. It was clean and nice. They were redoing a lot of things and I thought it looked nice already. But they're upgrading and renewing a whole lot of things in there. The staff who gave me the tour was nice. Her name was Wanda, and she was so nice. The rooms were exceptionally clean and very neat. There were quite a few people down in there and some of them were in wheelchairs and walkers and they were all watching television and talking to one another. They looked like a happy bunch of people. The lady at the front desk was very nice and I had seen a couple of maids up and down the aisle that were cleaning rooms and they were nice. They said hi as we walked by, so that was nice.

The Westland House was a wonderful place. It was very neat, they were very accommodating, and they provide an array of services. If you have dementia or Alzheimer's patient, they still take care of them. It was very clean, every floor had its own sitting room and a library, and they have activities. I was just very impressed with them. Their whole idea is to make your life as comfortable as possible, because this may be the last place you stay before you pass. And they have a doctor that comes in once a week.

The Westland House was very well maintained. The residents were talking with each other, and they're totally friendly like they were very much at home. I thought that that would be a place my husband would fit in very well, but I did not want him in a studio apartment environment. I wanted him more into a nursing home type environment. That's the only reason I didn't go with them. Wanda was very, very accommodating. It was very clean. The dining area was situated like a cafeteria. It was very friendly and very clean. I think it would have been an enjoyable experience to have breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snacks there. There's art throughout the facility, and the rooms were neatly decorated. They said you would have to bring your own furniture. The showroom was very attractively furnished.

The Westland House was the first place I went to and it was very clean. Wanda took me around and she was very helpful. She explained everything to me and from looking at it, it was nice. I liked that everything was included with the fee. My father will get his own room, and meals, they will wash his sheets, and provide physical therapy (if needed). They have movie nights, bingo, card games, and a lot of stuff that my father likes to do. They will give him his medication and if needed, they will go, get him and bring him to the activities. They also have church services.

I liked The Westland House. The way it's set up is nice. It's very homey looking, you walk in and it's pretty. It's set up like you would want your home to be set up. The rooms are a nice size. I looked at a studio. At first, when I was thinking about the studio, I was thinking, Oh, that's going to be small, but everything you need is there, and the closets are big enough where you can even put a small dresser in there to keep like your private articles and things like that. The people there are nice, the lady that guided me, she wasn't even -- Wanda was supposed to do it, but she ended up going home sick that day, so I cannot remember the lady's name, but she ended up telling me all about it, and she was so nice and very caring, and just answered every question I had. I liked it. I wanted just the first-floor thingy. They had maybe four floors, five floors, but you have elevators and the people that work there. If you have a wheelchair, they will take you to the elevator and take you all the way down to where you need to go, and there's always somebody there to help you out. So I liked it a lot. The other thing that I liked was the fact that they have a doctor there that comes in once a week. You don't even have to go out unless it's a specialty thing that you have to go to or have some kind of test or something. So with my mother's insurance, all we would have had to do was put that doctor down as her primary and everything she needed would have been taken care of. So that was nice. They have three meals a day, and if you don't feel that you can go to their dining room, they can take it to your room for you, but you have to set that one up ahead of time. Otherwise, you pay five dollars a meal to have it delivered, so that would be fifteen dollars a day. But if you set it up ahead of time, you don't have to pay that extra money. They have a small fridge, a little section where you can set things up for your coffee pot, or whatever you have. It's just enough.

The Westland House was very clean and kept up, and they were doing some areas. The one staff that I met with was very helpful. I've only seen one of their studios and it was fine. They have three meals a day, and they have a TV in a big room. The staff was good.

We went to tour The Westland House, I was impressed with it. It's beautiful to look at, the rooms are beautiful and it seems to be kept up nicely. They had a St. Patrick's Day party show yesterday, so they invited us to come for lunch and we did. It was really good, the food was very good. They also said something about their activities. The staff members that we met were all very nice, very friendly and very helpful. The dining room is a very big room with a lot of tables, so there's ample room and plenty of food. There's staff waiting on people, I don't know how they do it on normal days, but yesterday it was really good. We had staff going around asking if we wanted anything, so it was really good. They showed us a few rooms, they're lovely, we were looking at studio apartments. For a studio, it's spacious enough for a senior person. And they allow dogs, and that's what made my sister want to go there.

I liked The Westland House. It was clean and the staff was friendly. I showed up unannounced and the director was still there. She asked me a bunch of stuff about what we could do. Her staff came through asking her questions about different situations going on and they seemed to truly liked each other. They also offered me something to drink. When it comes to prices, they were the most economical choice.

My grandmother is now at this community, and it's wonderful. We were able to check out the apartments, and they were nice. We had lunch there, and the food was very good. It was lunch time for the people who live there, and they were walking up to their apartments and talking to me. I asked them if they enjoyed their lunch and most of them said that the food was really good and that they like living there. I have positive feedback, which I think is very important. My grandmother has dementia. They check on her often, remind her to eat three times a day, give her medication, take care of her laundry, and make sure her apartment is clean. It’s exactly what she needed.
