I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My husband was at respite care at Copper Trace. It was a very positive experience for him. He was very happy. The staff and the residents were very friendly and very helpful. It's a clean facility. He enjoyed it. We were both to go on a vacation to Florida, and he was unable to go because of health reasons, so we decided that he would go to respite, and I would go on to Florida. The facility is near our son's home, which was another plus, our son was able to step in to see him every day, and he had the same impression that my husband did. He was very pleased with the facility. Everything about it was a pleasant experience. The food was very good, and there was always an alternative choice if you didn't like the main entree for the day. My husband had fish, salads, soups, French fries, hamburgers, meatloaf, and stuffed ravioli and then there were choices for juices or milk. There were always activities. They had bingo, chair exercise classes, and church services. They had a Super Bowl party for them and decorated the place. There was a cooking class and an art class. The only thing (and I think that's probably pretty universal today) is that they were short-staffed, so it was difficult for some of the LPNs and the RNs to keep up in a timely manner. And if my husband needed assistance, which he did one, two, or three times, it took them a little longer to get there, but not because they were busy sitting in a hallway talking, it was because they were short-staffed. The staff there were friendly, nice, helpful, and willing to keep the residents happy. You can tell that's their goal.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother was a resident here for 6 months and we encountered many challenges, ultimately leading to us moving her on an emergency basis. She had several rounds of moisture-related skin breakdown due to being left in overflowing puddles of bodily fluids. She lost 10% of her body weight in a month due to issues with them not following her diet or helping her eat (as part of her care plan requires). She is diabetic and I found her feet severely cracked and with pressure sores when I removed her socks once. Missing items, phones that don't work, staff who were rude to her - even yelling at me for complaining or documenting her condition. Ultimately, when I felt her dignity was not being respected I decided to stop trying to "work with them" and move on.

I visited this facility

Copper Trace was very clean, and the staff was very attentive. Everybody was very friendly, and all the residents seemed to be very well taken care of. All the memory care rooms were full, so I wasn't able to go in the room; however, I looked in. They were nice and spacious. They had a place outside to put up things for the people in the rooms. It was nice. Everything looked great to me.

Facility has trouble retaining employees. Food is not consistent, very small portions and few options are often out of basic items. Activities are not consistent, sometimes good and then several days with nothing at all.

Provider Response

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We strive for excellence in the care of our residents and we appreciate your feedback as it assists us to make improvements in our processes. Thank you.

My mother is in Copper Trace. It's a nice community, but we had a really bad experience when we got there. Her medication was not transferred fully when we got there, so she had to go through an episode of severe pain and it was not necessary. Right off the bat, they dropped the ball. The staff seemed nice, but where it counts is the medical part of it. They need to be precise and accurate. They're lacking a little bit there. The food seems to be pretty good. It seems to be nice meals from what I've seen. Her room is not too big, but for a rehab center, it's nice. I'm not very impressed as far as the medical part. They need to improve on their medical transfers 100%. When it comes to people's health, they need to take it seriously.

I visited this facility

Copper Trace was very nice. I was very impressed with it. The lady, Jean, did a very good job showing it to us, and we asked if we could sample their food. She brought our breakfast, just one breakfast, and my wife and I sampled it. Actually, I ate most of it. It was very good. The rooms were very nice. They had one and two bedrooms, and it was very nice. The accommodations were very nice, and the dining room area was very nice. Of course, it was set up right now for COVID, with sort of limited seating. The people that we met were very nice and seemed like their interaction with the residents there were really good. I mean you could tell they cared, and it was more than just a job for them. They cared about the residents. It's in a neighborhood where there's like $400,000 homes nearby, so it was a very nice area and sort of isolated a little bit. The staff member knew many of the residents there, and they knew her.

Our experience with Copper Trace was great. They're wonderful people. Everybody there has a single room, so that's nice, and that makes it easier for having my wife meet somebody new and make new friendships. They have their own dining room for the memory care folks, and she always eats in the dining room. They have room in the wing of the nursing home where they can walk if they want, and they have a rehabilitation place or physical therapy room that's very nice. It's three miles from my house so it's a great location. It's a very large facility, they have a lot of assisted living quarters, and it sits by itself on a big piece of land. So it's not in the way of any residential areas or anything. It's a very nice location. My two sister-in-laws have been to the facility and they said that the food is excellent. The aesthetics and looks on the outside and the inside is immaculate. It costs a significant amount per month.

I visited this facility

Copper Trace was a nice facility inside and out. The staff was knowledgeable, but the front desk staff didn't appear to understand that we had an appointment, so they were a little confused. They were preparing for an activity when I was there and people were waiting eagerly for it to happen. They had a beauty shop, library, exercise area, and spacious dining area.

I visited this facility

Copper Trace was probably the best, cleanest and most well-decorated facility that I've toured. It had the most options. The staff knew that I was arriving and answered all my questions. It was an overall great experience.
