My mother will be moving into the Chelsea at Bald Eagle. The reason I chose them was because they had independent living. The other places I went to had said she could live there independently, but we would wind up paying for assisted living, and we wouldn't be using it. So, that was one of the factors. The place was very nice. They made sure when the resident likes bingo they go to bingo. They would cater to them a little bit and make sure that they're not just sitting in their apartments. The apartment had a full kitchen, a full-sized refrigerator, a four-burner stove, a microwave, countertops, and a sink. They would go to the dining room for dinner, which we thought would be good because it would get her out and get her social. Breakfast and lunch, you could make your own, or you could add it to the list. They had their own hairdressers that came in. They had doctors that come in. They bus them over to Shoprite to go food shopping. They would take them to doctors' appointments. They would take them out to dinner in groups. They had a lot of nice features there. She could transition from independent living to assisted living, which was all in the same building. Everyone there was very nice. I met the physical therapists and a lot of people that work there. I met the guy that drives the bus to take them around. They were very attentive, very nice, and just seemed like they would take care of my mom really well. They were very helpful and everybody was very pleasant. We did run into a few women that live there as we were walking around, and their interaction with my mom was really nice. I would feel comfortable with my mother there.

My aunt moved into The Chelsea at Bald Eagle. It was beautiful. I got to see the entire building. I got to see the memory unit where my aunt would be at. I got a lot of information that day on the services, and what is required to kind of move in there. This is her third week there. This room is beautiful. It's very modern. It has a personal bathroom and a small kitchenette area. It has room for everything she needs. She has reported the food is good. I was happy to hear that. The dining area is set up like a restaurant. It is modern, bright, and inviting. It looks like a restaurant. It's very nice. I did get to see the activities. My aunt can't participate in those because she's in the memory unit. So they have their own activities. My aunt is in the memory unit which is a smaller unit, they call it the country cottage. I don't know why, but it's not exactly a cottage. It's part of their building. It's a unit, it's nice, it's set up nicely.

The Chelsea at Bald Eagle has both independent living and assisted living, so that's good. It's a little bit farther than where I wanted my mother to be, and the cost is a little bit higher. It goes above $3100, so it's a little bit more expensive. Also, I'm African-American and I didn't see any other African-Americans when I visited. Other residents that I saw and the staff that I saw were white. I'd like my mom to be someplace that's more diversified, so this location probably will not work out for us. I took a tour; they have a lot of facilities, and I saw the rooms, which were a good size. It was 1-bedroom, but it was a good size and they offer a meal plan as well. The meals are included in the rent so that $3100 includes dinner every day. And then if they want additional meals, like breakfast and lunch, they can pay additional to get that. So that was good. They have a lot of activities, they had a full schedule of activities that they did with the seniors to keep them engaged. I saw the dining hall as well where they eat, and that was a nice area. It was clean, everyone was friendly, and they had a lot of activities. So there were a lot of seniors that were going about doing games and things, so that was good. It was a good atmosphere, but just for what I need, I don't think it's a good fit.

The Chelsea at Bald Eagle was pretty impressive. It was beautifully kept and the facilities were excellent. From what we saw, if we were to go for assisted living, this is the sort of place we would want to be. The young lady who showed us around was excellent. And she, Josie, did a great job. The place is beautiful with excellent facilities. They have gyms and salons and places for people to sit out and be social. It's a first-rate place. The decor is just gorgeous and it's spotless. The rooms are nicely decorated, they're clean, and they're all set to go. But as with all these places compared to where we are currently living, they're small. We would have to have a big decrease in the way in which we live.

I like The Chelsea at Bald Eagle to the point that I would definitely want my parents to move there. I was pleased with everything and everything was good. The person who showed me around was very helpful, pleasant, and friendly. They have several different activities which were applicable and appropriate for our different needs, like exercising in a chair, and art activities. I was sent home with some delicious scones.

I looked at The Chelsea at Bald Eagle, and I was impressed with it. Although there were certain things I did not like, I liked most of it. The living room particularly in the apartment is very small. For example, I thought they would do all the laundry, but I find that they don't do that, so that was a disappointment. I like the shopping facilities and it's what I happen to be using. They sent me literature on the community, but it doesn't seem to follow the layout that they sent me versus what I actually saw, particularly the kitchen. The closet space was fairly good, otherwise, the rooms were very small. I'm an afternoon person, but most of the activities I like are in the mornings. They have several activities that I thought were good. I like the social hour in the afternoon, and mostly I like the fact that they don't require you to have breakfast and lunch. I like that they have supper. The people who work there were excellent. I went there on a Grandfather's Day and they gave us food; I thought the food was good. The menu that they gave me the other day I have a little problem with. They have been calling me, asking me if I needed anything, and they would even send me literature if I asked for it. The people who took us around were excellent, and they showed us everything. The only problem was they had a little social hour before dinner, and because I was being shown around I didnt get to meet with other people (other than the person I was seated with). So I didn't really get a feeling of the residents themselves, so if there's any way that somebody could bring me in there, I would like to look at it again.
