I visited this facility

My mother will be moving into the Chelsea at Bald Eagle. The reason I chose them was because they had independent living. The other places I went to had said she could live there independently, but we would wind up paying for assisted living, and we wouldn't be using it. So, that was one of the factors. The place was very nice. They made sure when the resident likes bingo they go to bingo. They would cater to them a little bit and make sure that they're not just sitting in their apartments. The apartment had a full kitchen, a full-sized refrigerator, a four-burner stove, a microwave, countertops, and a sink. They would go to the dining room for dinner, which we thought would be good because it would get her out and get her social. Breakfast and lunch, you could make your own, or you could add it to the list. They had their own hairdressers that came in. They had doctors that come in. They bus them over to Shoprite to go food shopping. They would take them to doctors' appointments. They would take them out to dinner in groups. They had a lot of nice features there. She could transition from independent living to assisted living, which was all in the same building. Everyone there was very nice. I met the physical therapists and a lot of people that work there. I met the guy that drives the bus to take them around. They were very attentive, very nice, and just seemed like they would take care of my mom really well. They were very helpful and everybody was very pleasant. We did run into a few women that live there as we were walking around, and their interaction with my mom was really nice. I would feel comfortable with my mother there.

My aunt moved into The Chelsea at Bald Eagle. It was beautiful. I got to see the entire building. I got to see the memory unit where my aunt would be at. I got a lot of information that day on the services, and what is required to kind of move in there. This is her third week there. This room is beautiful. It's very modern. It has a personal bathroom and a small kitchenette area. It has room for everything she needs. She has reported the food is good. I was happy to hear that. The dining area is set up like a restaurant. It is modern, bright, and inviting. It looks like a restaurant. It's very nice. I did get to see the activities. My aunt can't participate in those because she's in the memory unit. So they have their own activities. My aunt is in the memory unit which is a smaller unit, they call it the country cottage. I don't know why, but it's not exactly a cottage. It's part of their building. It's a unit, it's nice, it's set up nicely.

The Chelsea at Bald Eagle has both independent living and assisted living, so that's good. It's a little bit farther than where I wanted my mother to be, and the cost is a little bit higher. It goes above $3100, so it's a little bit more expensive. Also, I'm African-American and I didn't see any other African-Americans when I visited. Other residents that I saw and the staff that I saw were white. I'd like my mom to be someplace that's more diversified, so this location probably will not work out for us. I took a tour; they have a lot of facilities, and I saw the rooms, which were a good size. It was 1-bedroom, but it was a good size and they offer a meal plan as well. The meals are included in the rent so that $3100 includes dinner every day. And then if they want additional meals, like breakfast and lunch, they can pay additional to get that. So that was good. They have a lot of activities, they had a full schedule of activities that they did with the seniors to keep them engaged. I saw the dining hall as well where they eat, and that was a nice area. It was clean, everyone was friendly, and they had a lot of activities. So there were a lot of seniors that were going about doing games and things, so that was good. It was a good atmosphere, but just for what I need, I don't think it's a good fit.

The Chelsea at Bald Eagle was pretty impressive. It was beautifully kept and the facilities were excellent. From what we saw, if we were to go for assisted living, this is the sort of place we would want to be. The young lady who showed us around was excellent. And she, Josie, did a great job. The place is beautiful with excellent facilities. They have gyms and salons and places for people to sit out and be social. It's a first-rate place. The decor is just gorgeous and it's spotless. The rooms are nicely decorated, they're clean, and they're all set to go. But as with all these places compared to where we are currently living, they're small. We would have to have a big decrease in the way in which we live.

I like The Chelsea at Bald Eagle to the point that I would definitely want my parents to move there. I was pleased with everything and everything was good. The person who showed me around was very helpful, pleasant, and friendly. They have several different activities which were applicable and appropriate for our different needs, like exercising in a chair, and art activities. I was sent home with some delicious scones.

I visited this facility

I looked at The Chelsea at Bald Eagle, and I was impressed with it. Although there were certain things I did not like, I liked most of it. The living room particularly in the apartment is very small. For example, I thought they would do all the laundry, but I find that they don't do that, so that was a disappointment. I like the shopping facilities and it's what I happen to be using. They sent me literature on the community, but it doesn't seem to follow the layout that they sent me versus what I actually saw, particularly the kitchen. The closet space was fairly good, otherwise, the rooms were very small. I'm an afternoon person, but most of the activities I like are in the mornings. They have several activities that I thought were good. I like the social hour in the afternoon, and mostly I like the fact that they don't require you to have breakfast and lunch. I like that they have supper. The people who work there were excellent. I went there on a Grandfather's Day and they gave us food; I thought the food was good. The menu that they gave me the other day I have a little problem with. They have been calling me, asking me if I needed anything, and they would even send me literature if I asked for it. The people who took us around were excellent, and they showed us everything. The only problem was they had a little social hour before dinner, and because I was being shown around I didn’t get to meet with other people (other than the person I was seated with). So I didn't really get a feeling of the residents themselves, so if there's any way that somebody could bring me in there, I would like to look at it again.

The staff at The Chelsea at Bald Eagle is fine. My apartment is very nice and the food is very good. We have a lot of activities here like comic nights, movies, Poker nights, and we have happy hour every day where we get to have beer. I think it is a very good community. We like each other, we get together and talk, and we have a lot of fun.

My father has already moved into Chelsea at Bald Eagle. When you walk inside, you will see the residents looking cheery and happy, and that’s what attracted us to the facility. There are two options for apartments: one-bedroom with your bathroom and your living room, or you can choose to have a larger living room. We went with the smaller option because he is just one person and didn’t need that much room. It has a kitchenette in it, so it is very convenient. The location is not secluded, but it is private so it almost feels like its own private neighborhood with a lot of shopping areas around. It is less money than a lot of other places we've looked at, and they offer a lot of options. This is for independent living, and we are comfortable enough to move him to assisted living within the facility when he gets to that point.

My 88 year old aunt lives at Chelsea. She moved there June 2015 and adjusted quite well. She has memory issues but lives in a one bedroom apt in the independent living section. Housekeeping comes once a week. Their food is great (I've had a few guest meals). She pays for her meals (we turned the elec stove off). In Jan 2016 rent increased 7%. I expect that to happen again Jan 2017. The staff is fantastic. She doesn't remember to attend all the events, except bingo, so they call her or say come join us if they see her sitting with friends by the fireplace in the lobby. Hair salon and self laundry (or they do it for you for a small fee) in bldg and podiatrist comes about every three mos. Physical therapy on site, which came in handy one time. They brought her meals to her until she was able to get around again. She is three minutes from me and very happy I don't have to worry about her safety and health...

The Chelsea at Bald Eagle was very good. I have heard good things about it from friends of mine who have relatives there, so I have a good feeling about it. I don't think the place was appropriate for my aunt because she's legally blind. They have assisted living and independent living, and I thought the transition would be difficult for her. The staff member who gave me the tour was very friendly, very nice, and punctual. She made me feel welcome and was very professional. The place itself was clean. The people who were there seemed to be engaged in activities and looked happy and interacted with each other. The dining area was clean, and the menu choices seemed good. They had specific things each day, but they also had a small menu that you can order off if you didn't like what they were having that day.

The Chelsea at Bald Eagle was very good. We liked everything. The dining area was well kept, clean, and professional. I didn't see anything that concerned me. The access was confined to a few entrances with someone on duty. The price and financial arrangements were good.

The Chelsea at Bald Eagle is so much homier than some of the other places I've seen. They have lots of different things to do and take people to the doctors. The staff seems very nice. It is the only place where I can potentially bring my parents to live.

The Chelsea was nice, but it wasn’t as homey. It was a little farther out and a bit remote. The rooms were clean, neat, big, and well decorated. I saw the area where they have dinners and that was a nice setup. They showed us that they had a beauty salon on site. They give us an apple pie when we visited. The accommodations were clean and neat. The staff was nice and accommodating.

We visited The Chelsea at Bald Eagle for my mother. It was a very nice facility. It was very clean. There was a lot of activity. It was actually a perfect place, but the pricing was too high. The people were very nice. The apartments were spacious and nice. However, they only had four units, so there wasn't very many, and that was the only problem.

She was at The Chelsea, but she is now in a psychiatric unit, and we still do not when she will return. The facility was nice, and the rooms were wonderful -- plenty big enough and clean.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I am in The Chelsea at Bald Eagle. It fits my needs because it is not an assisted living. It is an independent living because I do not need assisted as I can pretty much do everything on my own. So, I pay a much lower rate than the people here who are in the assisted living. It is very good and I love it. The apartment is very accommodating for me. It is in the country. As a matter of fact, it is three miles from where I go fishing. My cleaning lady comes once a week and she does an excellent job in cleaning up my apartment. I am very happy here. The only negative I find is that everybody is subject to 7% increase in the rent that has happened the last three years and it has a lot of people worried.

My mom is in The Chelsea, and she’s stable, calm and getting adjusted. The staff is very caring. It is very clean and very nice. It is a very pretty facility. The dining room is very nice, and she always liked the food; she thought it was very good. It always seemed the residents are very lively, sitting down and conversing. The dining room looked like a restaurant. Mother has a private room and when you have to share, you just share a bathroom.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I found The Chelsea at Bald Eagle for my mom. We visited a few of the places and this one seems to be the nicest one, and it was very reasonably priced. They have been outstanding and it is a place that I would highly recommend. The staff is excellent. Every staff person I met seemed to really care about the residents and their family, and it is a very, very professionally run place. The rooms are of nice size and clean. They update everything. Maintenance is very impeccable, they keep it up maintenance-wise perfectly. They have so many activities, i.e., they go to shopping center, they go to plays and shows, and they go out for dinners. They have a restaurant. They have bingo, card games, and it just goes on. What I like best about this one is the facility's cleanliness. It is a professionally run place. There is no comparison to others.

The Chelsea at Bald Eagle was very nice, but it was far. It is not built up between here and there, so that when we were on 23 North it seemed like there was no population. But I liked it because it was away from the heavier sounds of traffic. I like very much what they have to offer.

What I liked about The Chelsea is that the rooms were nice, big, and bright. The one room that we looked at in particular had a nice little outdoor patio. The staff seemed to know everybody by their first names and I liked that. They were also kind enough to spend time with me answering all my questions. They really seemed to respect the residents. They care for them a lot and they wanted the residents to have much stimulation within the day. There were a lot of things going on there. We did see various activities as they were happening. They also have a vegetable garden that the residents were working on which was also very nice.

I liked Van Dyk's proximity to me. I could get to my mom in less than an hour. My mom shared a two-bedroom apartment, with walk in closets, a full kitchen, with a big living room and a big shower. It was a huge, very clean and state-of-the-art apartment. The staff was really nice but they could improve on the food they served. My mom said that the food wasn't that great but it also wasn't horrible.
