Don't bring your family here, the food is a lie, no restaurant style dinning..the caretakers serve the drinks and food don't wash their hands nor wear gloves, if you order a sandwich that's on the menu you wait till last to get it dishes glasses dirty tables floors filthy mold on food undercooked chicken fish..whole place has bugs dirty smelly..staff lays around on phones sleeping and eating..ignoring residents rooms are small to small for 2.people no way to have privacy no divider in studio apartment that they put 2 in..you are treated like a prisoner not a resident at night the staff laughs talk loud ect you can't sleep..

Carolina Gardens at West Columbia is a nice assisted living community and the services are exceptional. I have read some negative comments about the place, but you can't make everybody happy no matter what you do. One thing about it is that the pricing would come across pretty well, but my brother just can't afford to get into a single room. The only staff that I had contact with was the sales rep in charge. The staff was really nice, knowledgeable about what's going on and very courteous. The dining area looks like it's pretty well-kept. They have activities like bingo and other things. The sales rep staff gave us a tour of the rooms, the facilities and such, they were very forthcoming and discussed the cost.

Carolina Gardens at West Columbia was in great need of repair. I also found a prescription pill on the floor, which turned me off immediately. They had private and shared rooms, a recreation room that had puzzles and books, and they had exercises. There was nothing memorable about it other than the pill. Even the staff member who gave me the tour was late, and it was a scheduled appointment.

Agape Senior is assisted living; it has skilled care, it has a dementia unit. It's a 1-stop shop. I don't think I'll ever have to worry other than my mom going to the hospital. I really like the staff. They're very devoted, caring, and kind. I like how the residents all take care of each other. They've become a family. I have a little bit of qualm that they don't clean her room as well as I would like them to. They don’t clean it every day. They come in and vacuum once a week, but then I'm used to taking care of Mom myself. I'm used to giving her a bath every day or every other day. It's just learning to let me being in charge go and that's a little difficult, so I have to learn to live by their rules. They have bingo, and I know they do all kinds of stuff. I just can't get my mom to participate in the activities. Mom has been there about 2 months. I've talked to the nurse and the nurse practitioner but I haven't spoken to the doctor yet, and that's just disheartening, but that's going to change. Agape worked out for me because it's to the back of her side of town, where we all grew up. It made her accessible to her friends again and her family that still lives there.

Mom was at the post-acute care at Agape Senior Assisted Living. I am really not happy with the room's cleanliness. I didn’t feel that they keep them really clean. Mom has some mobility issues and so skin care was very important, but she did develop bed sores. Some of the staff are excellent, but some I had issues with. We took her out there and brought her to a hospital and I don’t think I would recommend this facility.

Agape Senior Assisted Living seemed to be very nice. I believe they had different setups where you can pretty much be on your own, but if you needed assistance there is somebody there. They also have one that is more like a nursing home, which is more hands-on and somebody helps you pretty much all the time. The room was fine. I knew somebody who lived there and I have a niece who works there. I think I would recommend them. They keep branching out and growing all the time.
