I visited this facility

We went to The Cloisters before, we have a family member that's gone there, and it was excellent. It's excellent now, they've done the renovations. It's very neat, very clean. All the employees are very friendly and the staff is outstanding. Any questions I had were answered immediately, if they didn't know, they found out and got back to me right away. Also, it's at a dead-end street, so there's no true traffic. It backs into a wooded area, so they have wildlife and bird feeders, and it's a very calm atmosphere. Everything looks newly painted. They just put in new flooring. Their kitchen was immaculate. The rooms themselves are all very neat and tidy. The bathrooms were clean, and everything was good.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother has been a resident at the Cloisters for several (over 6) years now. They also took care of my father before we had to move him to a nursing facility. There have been a ton up updates in the last year including a new front porch area, new floor and lighting in the dining area and multiple rooms have been updated with new paint, carpets and fixtures. New owners have put a lot of time and effort into the facility. The staff is amazing, and mom is very happy there!

I am a friend or relative of a resident

We placed my father at The Cloisters, as it is the closest to our house. It is wonderful. The facility is clean, and it has no odors at all. The grounds are very nice and well-kept up. There is a sidewalk that goes all the way around the building that the residents walk on every single day. They have bird feeders and deer that come up to the bird feeders. I like that the staff is helpful and friendly. The foods there are homemade foods, and they cater to special diets. The rooms are nice. They are not really big, but they seem spacious. All of the rooms have screens on the windows and their own thermostats. They have at least two planned activities every day, and the residents can choose to participate or not. The local bus service will pick them up if they call and take them to any place that they desire for $1.50. However, they need to upgrade and improve the height of the toilets. They only have low toilets with extender seats on top of some of them.

I visited this facility

We are still looking around for facilities that would best fit my Dad. At this point, it's hard for us to judge where he is gonna be best fit until they interview him. So anyway, The Cloisters is one of the facilities we toured. It seemed very homey and clean. It has a nice and friendly atmosphere. The staff seemed friendly and knowledgeable. We only saw one room. It was pretty nice and quite adequate. The residents seemed to be happy and contented about the place.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

When visiting The Cloisters, I noticed that the facility had both positive and negative attributes. For instance, I received mixed signals from the staff as far as being helpful and friendly. Some of the staff members are very eager to help and are sociable, whereas other staff members are less amicable. To be honest, I attribute this to the various duties for which each employee is responsible - such as front desk duties and/or liaison responsibilities versus more task-oriented duties like in the kitchen or group supervision. The Cloisters offers great amenities such as group activities both in house, as well as activities within the community. One such example is a "field trip" to the county fair in August, or attending other local events. I find these trips and activities to be a great advantage to this facility because it allows for the residents to still participate in activities that were once familiar to them, prior to being in the facility. These trips also afford residents the opportunity to enjoy experiences outside of the facility, allowing for interaction with other individuals. The continual interaction with the community is helpful when keeping the residents interested and interactive with their surroundings. The Cloisters is located in Warsaw, New York, which is situated between Rochester and Buffalo. Warsaw is approximately an hour away (driving)from each city, which creates a more relaxed atmosphere for those residents who do not wish to be directly in the city, but allows for availability for any services needed that cannot be treated by the local hospital and/or amenities. The local community is also enriched with many community gathering places such as public parks, family restaurants, and churches. I'm not aware of all the details about the facilities provided, but I do know that each resident is provided a room, and may share restroom/bathroom facilities. There are several employees as well assistants and volunteers on hand to aid the residents, as well. The residents are free to have family and friends escort them and transport them to various appointments, personal outings, etc, which offers some freedom and mobility. Overall, there is always room for improvement, but The Cloisters is a great addition to Wyoming County and the surrounding communities.
