Do not consider for your loved one. It is extremely difficult to find a quality Medicare approved residence , which is partly why I chose this for Mom. Over the past few years, it has simply gone down hill. The food is horrible. Staff is understaffed and rude (a few exceptions). The Administrator is unresponsive to concerns and basically taking in anyone with Medicare. My mother had an incident this week, where a resident who is not mentally fit for the home, urinated in her bed. She then pooped on floor. The staff member responsible for cleaning refused and threatened to quit. My mom had to strip her bed and flip her own mattress. The staff and administrator did not even approach my mom the next day to check on her or apologize. Her response? Good help is hard to find. Well, that starts at the top. They dont respect the residents and look at it as a business. I am getting my mother out. The administrator wont return my request for a meeting. Unsafe.. Fed sandwiches for dinner every night. dirty.

I've been a resident at Avalon 4 years 8 months. To be bluntly honest I wouldn't recommend this place. Facility upkeep from a housekeeping perspective is poor. First floor dining room alone is in serious need of a deep cleaning. Resident rooms are not cleaned daily. Some are cleaned more often than others. But most are given a decent cleaning once a month? Employees they've been recruiting at Avalon for the evening shift make their own schedule and not adhere to the schedule posted by the Administrator. Are unprofessional, rude, have an overall bad attitudes. They do absolutely nothing whatsoever but on their phones all shift long.

The place is filthy. Staff are friendly when visitors are there otherwise rude to residents. Residents are fed sandwiches most of the time. If you love your family member you will not leave them in their hands. Rooms are small. Very old and outdated. Water stains on the ceiling Carpets are damp. No community activities offered. Terrible place !!

My brother Ralph has been living at The Avalon for over 14 years. During that period we have visited him numerous times. During each visit he has shown himself to be very well taken care of and happy to be living there. The staff and administrator have been very helpful in taking care of his needs through the years, and have always greeted us with a friendly welcome. We look forward to visiting him at the Avalon with its warm, homelike atmosphere -- a place my brother has been happy to call home. William Pisani

My mom moved into The Avalon Assisted Living and Wellness Center. The place is very nice and homey and I'm very pleased with it. The rooms were very nice and clean. My mom has had no problems with the food. They offer a salon, activities room, shopping, and expeditions. The staff is very good and nice. I'm very pleased with them and I'm very comfortable with my mother being there since she gets the help she needs.

My Brother has been in so many types of facilities over the years and I find that the Avalon was the best ever fit for him. They so their best to provide a homey existence and the staff could not be more friendly and accommodating.
The Avalon Assisted Living and Wellness Center is located in Wappingers Falls, New York, near the Hudson Valley Regional Airport and James Beard State Park. Living accommodations consist of private and semi-private rooms. Visitors are impressed by the caring, attentive staff members and the cleanliness of this facility. They also comment on its homey atmosphere. Families appreciate the library, large community rooms and spa with a jacuzzi that are available to their loved ones. Some activities seniors can enjoy include bingo nights, ice cream socials, barbecues, art shows and local outings.
