I visited this facility

The Residence at Voorhees was clean and nice. The dining area was decent. They have studios and one-bedroom apartments (the one-bedroom has a little kitchenette). The woman who gave us a tour was also nice. They do poker nights, yoga, Taichi, taking them out once a week for a nice ride in the van, and all things that my dad would be interested in. They have something going on every day. It's just that everything is a la carte, so you have to pay for everything. Like if I needed somebody to give my dad's meds or assist him to the dining room or get his clothes washed, I have to pay for that. The only thing that was included in the monthly was the room and board, the meals, and the washing of his linens.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom has moved into The Residence at Voorhees. Everybody is very friendly, nice, and happy, and that includes the residents there. The staff were very attentive to my mom. They were very friendly and caring. I feel very confident that they are going to continue to take good care of my mom. The facility is very nice. It's clean, bright, and cheery. It's really what sold me to have my mom get into this facility as opposed to any of the other ones. They have therapy animals that come in. They have a bird that is there all the time. The residents seem to be happy when they see the bird-like dancing, or then they play music. It's just mainly that it was clean, and that the people were very attentive to the residents there, very friendly, and caring and, that's what I liked about it.

Provider Response

Thank you for your review, Diane! We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience at The Residence at Voorhees. We are very happy to hear that you and your mom are enjoying our community.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother-in-law is a resident of The Residence at Voorhees. My husband is very pleased with it. He's very happy with what they're doing with her. It's clean, and it's friendly. The people are very friendly, and she's kept as busy as she wants to be. They have a lot of activities for them. There's something going on every day. Once a week, music comes in, and they have music there for them. It is meeting our expectations. As for the food, there have been no complaints from her. They have a hair salon. She has gone down and got her hair done. There's a reading room and a game room. Activities seem to be fine. You can be as busy as you want to be.

I visited this facility

The Residence at Voorhees tour was great, it looked nice. A lot of it was ala carte though, so things like housekeeping service would have been extra there. The rooms are just like studios because there's no door separating the bedroom from the living area. The facility itself is gorgeous, it was just the lack of a door to the bedroom area.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

When my mother stayed at The Residence at Voorhees, the residents there were very nice and very open to new people coming in. All the residents there were very friendly and tried to make friends with my mother, and she did. She made friends that first day and the second; during the day, she's fine. But we think she has what they call sundowners. When the sun goes down, she kind of goes off her crackers; she kind of loses her mind. Anyway, the people are all very nice. The staff was excellent, and it's an excellent run facility. The room was very nice. Everybody was very helpful. The whole moving process was very smooth. I have nothing but great things. I would give a five to everybody there - the nurses, from the intake nurse to all the caregivers I met, and I met quite a few because of my mother's problems. They were all very helpful, and willing to explain because she was refusing to take her medication as well. So, the nurses were trying to work with me and figure out a plan on how best to help my mother. Everybody was more than helpful. The decor was nice, it was more of a traditional look. Some of the rooms I've visited have been upgraded to a more modern look, but this one was still very nice; I would still give it a five even now. They had a fireplace, and they said they were working on getting that fixed. Once that would be fixed, I think it's going to be just a nice environment for seniors to go sit and relax and chat by the fire. I would say the facilities are fine as well. The only comment my mother said that dinner was okay. She thought it was good, but not great. Not having eaten it myself, it's hard to say. The value, I'd say it was very good; I think you get what you pay for. She didn't partake in any activities, and it seemed like they had a lot of nice things. Every time I was in there, they were doing Wii bowling and other things with the residents. But I can't say too much about that.

I found it for my mom. They have special meals for high blood pressure, low sodium, and things like that. She hasn't moved in yet. They were very nice. It was clean. I liked it. It was an impressive environment with the fireplace. Even now that they're in isolation, they still have activities. They can go for rides to the doctor's office, and they will take them out on outings if the situation is permitting. They showed me the menu, and they told me they have low-sodium meals.

Provider Response

Hi Melissa, thank you for your review. Our community, now The Residence at Voorhees, is not longer owned or operated by Atria. As such, our residents have access to an new, expansive menu that does offer a wide range of dietary accommodations. They also have a full calendar of events and programs that allow them to fill their days with the things they love - whether that is in their room or out in the community. We hope when she moves in she will enjoy all of this and more! Thanks again for sharing!

I toured and we're in the process of placing my mother there. Everything about it was very good, they've given a lot of information, and provided activities. They have speakers, yoga, they have an exercise room, and they take people out shopping.

I visited this facility

It was was good, clean, and looks nice. The only thing we didn't like was the shower. It was a step-in and it was too high. It was a bit awkward and a fall-risk for the elderly. It wasn't flat where the person just walks in. The rooms looked like little apartments. They all had a lot of activities going on like gardening, singing, different people coming in, and they take them to places if they're able to go.

It was nice. The contact person was very nice, and I enjoyed the tour. They were helpful to me and gave me a lot of information. The layout was nice. The rooms were better than I expected them to be. I expected it to be a little smaller. Everything was good. I could move in there myself. They had a lot of activities and great programs for these people. They had a big movie theater and a library. The facility was very clean.

My mother was here. It was a very comfortable and easy living place, and people were very friendly. She is a people person, so she gets along very easily with people. There was no odor to it, and everything was nice. My mother is in a wheelchair and was able to get around. They have different activities, such as bingo and games. They had a game room, lounge area, and a back area where you could sit out during the summer time. It was a nice place. The food was good. The atmosphere and people stood out.

I liked the rooms and the memory care. I have a better feeling there. They had a big fireplace, and the dining area seemed a little bit more open and nice.

We did visit. The rooms were very nice and very comfortable. The surroundings were beautiful, but they have very few patients in the memory care unit. We thought they were too isolated and that there was very little interaction. With their food, it didn’t look like there were any problems with that. Their cafeteria was very large and there were people who were being lectured on a topic of space travel. They have plenty of activities. The staff was excellent. Overall, I think the facility is great except for the memory unit area. I would recommend this facility for those who do not have memory problems.

I visited this facility

We visited, and the staff was fine. They were wonderful. I really enjoyed talking to them. They were very helpful, informative, and they were excellent. The rooms were beautiful. It was just not right for my mother because my mother was coming from a 2,500 square foot house, and we couldn't put her into a 350 square foot room. She's not disabled, and she isn't really ready for that. However, the residents looked very happy and content. They looked very pleased with their environment. I told my mother that it was like a hotel. I liked it. I am a more of social person, and if I went into that situation, I would say, "Okay, let's play bingo or let's go on a bus trip!" because I am more of like my father. My mother is the opposite of me. She's a homebody and happy to stay home and watch TV. She doesn't want to meet new people. My brother and I had to go there and visit, and then we realized that it was not going to work for our mom. However, I said to my brother, "Bill, it will work for me. God! I'm 56, I can move in there! I'll be meeting the whole group!"

The only thing I didn’t like is when you walk in the front door you are in the dining area. I didn’t like the thought of the front door opening and closing when people are trying to eat, but the facility is clean and neat. The people were wonderful and very nice.

I did like it, it was nice. The rooms were a nice size. Some of them were on ground level and they had a patio which was unique. Not very many of them had a patio. You could actually open a sliding glass door and go out onto a patio. That was different. The dining room was decent, they kept it clean. Everything was clean. The women went into a room and they were playing cards. Any afternoon, they could go down and have tea set up for them. They could have all kinds of teas and coffees if they wanted to. It was quite nice there also.

Extremely friendly and attentive facility. My mother loves it there and I am happy that they keep me informed of her activities and difficulties. They are quick to respond with my questions and I feel very secure knowing that my mother is in good hands and being treated properly.

Someone from here called and invited me to come with my mother to have lunch and a tour of the facility. The place was very nice, the staff was friendly, and the food was good. I like best that the location was very nice and so like the country where my mother lived, and it's not that far from the city.
