Morning Pointe of Tuscaloosa

Morning Pointe of Tuscaloosa seemed adequate. It was an institutional type. There's a lot of security around there and all the doors were locked, so that was something that I was not interested in because my mom is more independent. As far as the facility goes, for the people that need that kind of facility, it's OK. The employees were very helpful. They took all the time that I needed. They have a salon, a community room, and a little courtyard. No pool though.

My mother moved into Morning Pointe of Tuscaloosa. We chose it because it was not as crowded as the others, it still looked new, it had RNs on staff, and the employees seemed to care about their residents. Her room is very nice, and it's a living room with a bedroom. The dining area is nice. They have exercise, puzzles, tours to different places, and arts and crafts. It was very business-like, everything's clean, and no smells or anything such as some that I've been in. It's very nice. All of them are too expensive, but compared to others, their value for money is good.

I toured Morning Pointe of Tuscaloosa. It was a mix of assisted living and memory care. I liked it fine. The lady that showed us around had only been there for three days. My husband would probably have a bedroom and bath which is spacious enough. I didn't see any issues with maintenance. They did have some rooms that were not ready yet, but I guess that's to be expected. Residents were doing exercise and using a ball and it looked like they were having a good time. The dining area was very nice. At least a year or so ago, I went to a meeting over there and they served food and it was very good. The place was very nice, clean, and well decorated.

I have chosen Morning Pointe for my parents. It's beautiful and very clean. The staff and administration are all very caring people. They seem to actually care about not only the residents, but the resident's families, too. My parents got two 1-bedrooms that are adjoined by a door, so each has a bedroom, a bath and a living area, but they could go back and forth between the two. They've been there just a few weeks right now. I haven't tasted the food, but from what I hear it's wonderful. It's a good variety, and the residents get to choose. They have some activities, but with the current Covid situation, it's very limited right now. Before Covid, they have arts and crafts, games and outings. They're happy, and everybody seems to like it. Before I put my parents in there, I was able to speak with a couple of residents, and they liked it and they seemed happy there.

My mother-in-law was at Morning Pointe of Tuscaloosa for a while. I last visited three years ago. I really love them. That's probably my favorite place of all. They said they would try her in the assisted living for as long as they could and they kept her there as long as they could, but she hadn't settled in with her dementia yet. She was constantly up and calling the nurse around all during the midnight when she was trying to give medication and stuff. I just said she had to go over there to the memory side, which was true. I can't believe they kept her as long as they did. They did very well with her over there at assisted living. I ate there a few times, and I was doing a lot of activities with them myself. I would go and play and taught the ladies how to play dominos because I was trying to keep my mother-in-law active. I really liked the inside of the facility.

We visited Morning Pointe of Tuscaloosa, and from walking in, there's a friendly atmosphere. Just looking at it, it's nice. The floor plans are similar to the other place we wanted to. It's not that big of a community, but we like the layout; it's comparable. The difference that I found is that the base pay is one amount, but then you had to pay extra for cable, phone service, and it's not all-inclusive.
