I visited this facility

Everything we saw at Fairwinds-Desert Point, including the person who toured us around, looked superior. It's a beautiful place. It was very well-maintained. The apartments were bigger. I believe it's newer so it's just very, very nice. If I was going somewhere, that's where I'd go. I saw a lot of people doing a lot of things. They have crafts, they have a church, Bible studies, and all that kind of stuff that we saw going on while we were there. Everybody we saw looked like they were enjoying themselves. There was also a library, chair aerobics, and exercise programs. It was excellent.

Our mother lived here for over a year and it was the most incredible place ever. The staff makes it a great place. My mom loved it there. We were so sad when she had to move into memory care as Fairwinds was the best. I can't say enough good about Robin, Jorge, Gloria, Elizabeth, Lisa, Jo, and so many many staff. I would highly recommend this lovely place for your loved ones.

I am/was a resident of this facility

On Memorial Day, May 27,2019 there was NO special recognition except the lowering the flag to half mast at the appropriate time by, I think, by one of our maintenance men. In years past years we have recognized our loved ones by a special presentation. Me and my friends are so disappointed. The dining room beautifully decorated but nothing was mentioned about it. Sad day but no was to express it.

I had my father there from December 2016 to July 2018. He was on Assisted Living services. The nurse never saw him. There Caregivers were good, but the last year he was there the staff changed. 2- 3 nights a week he always had a different caregiver whom he did not recognize. They were always from an outside agency he was told. They were not familiar with his needs. It bothered him , he never knew who would be coming into his room. There was a big turnover in staff. I have since moved him out to another community.

My parents moved into an apartment at Fairwinds in Sep 2015 under their independent living program. Initially everything was extremely good though the costs there are a bit high. My Dad passed suddenly in March 2016 and things began to turn for the worse as my mom's mental state began to slowly decline. Earlier this month, the management invited me to find lodging for my mom elsewhere citing her decline and the need for a greater level of care. Fairwinds does advertise, and offer, assisted living services though did not offer them for my mom. I have since found a different community with assisted living that is perfect for mom. Mom was assessed by the nurse and determined to be at the minimum level (1) for assistance. We are set to move her into her new apartment in the a few days. What angers me most is Fairwinds refused to mention or offer their advertised "assisted living care option" for mom. Had I known this was going to happen, I would have not moved my folks into Fairwinds at all. Things for mom are stressful enough without adding another, unnecessary, move to a new place away from her friends.

Fairwinds is nice. It is well just a little bit of a different feel. It is obviously newer, so it doesn't have that established feel as much. It seemed like they have activities, but it is smaller and newer. The person that assisted me was really nice. She was good. They have an exercise room, and they have transportation available. The dining area looked fine as well.

I participate in Silver Sneakers exercise classes at Fairwinds Desert Point and can honestly say that Fairwinds is superior to other retirement facilities that I have seen! The residents are smiling, social and engaged with each other and with visitors. The staff is pleasant, eager to help and to be of service. The restaurant on site is fabulous ...our party of 3 guests recently enjoyed a great meal there... prime rib, delightfully cooked white asparagus, yummy potatoes and a yule log desert to die for!! I've greatly enjoyed the Silver Sneakers exercise class and plan to be a daily participant! Congratulations to Scott, Robert and all the staff who have created a wonderful environment !

My father and his wife lived here for almost two years. As with any big move, there were some challenges. The staff worked very hard help make the transition easier. Since my father's health concerns were different from his wife's, they were able to pick and choose the services they needed (i.e. independent/assisted living, medication management or whatever). Originally, they brought their little dog with them but he was a little too peppy for an apartment setting. It was really nice to have that as a choice. This is an active adult community. If one has the resources, it is great for those who are faring fairly well. It does not have a dementia or skilled nursing facility attached so if your loved ones transition to that phase, they may need to move eventually to get more services. That is what happened to my father as his Parkinson's made it too difficult to live in an apartment without constant supervision. Overall, we were happy with the facility and their services from beginning to end. The staff was very caring.

Fairwinds was very nice. I liked it a lot. One thing I liked about it was that they offered independent living and assisted living. If you needed to move to assisted living, you would have to move out of your apartment. You could stay where you were. They had an outdoor swimming pool. The staff was outstanding. I thought they had a very pleasant dining area. The rooms were very nice.

I visited Fairwinds. I liked that all the rooms could be either assisted or independent. If you went from independent to assisted, you would not need to change rooms. I also liked their meal serving methods where you would not have to go to meals at a certain time, but you had a window of time. I also liked the layout and the cleanliness of the place. The friendliness of the residents stood out to me. Every unit had a washer and dryer in it.

I visited Fairwinds of Desert Point about two years ago. I ate there. The food was good. It was probably more of a home cooked meal. The place was very clean. The rooms looked good and inviting to me. The room was in good shape and neat.

They bought me dinner at Fairwinds - Desert Point, and they had entertainment, but I just didn't feel comfortable there, like there was something about it that was wrong. The apartment I saw was average, and you bought your own furniture. The price was a little steep, and the location is very inconvenient. It's just a wrong place to get in and get out. They need to improve on entrances, exits, and more outside activities. The accessibility to it was not that convenient as far as I'm concerned.

We went to Fairwinds-Desert Point, and we like it because it's closer to where we live now. The layout was pretty good and updated. The only thing is wrong, again, is we need to put our name on the waiting list. There are no vacancies. The staff has been very good.

Fairwinds-Desert Point was very nice, much newer, and pretty spacious. I talked to the sales director, and they were very nice. They seemed to have a few activities. There were a fair amount of residents out and about moving around the property -- which I always thought was good. It’s in a beautiful location, and you have the mountain view. It was one of the considerations, but it was quite expensive.

My folks are in Fairwinds, and it has been great. There are a lot of activities, and they have been very good to them. The room is very clean, well maintained, and spacious. I have never seen anything that is not clean. We eat the food all the time, and they do a nice job. They are trying to take care of a whole lot of people that has different age, and actually, that is one of the big reasons why we chose it.

I went to Fairwinds at Desert Point, and it was very nice, beautiful, and accommodating. We looked at a studio and an extended studio apartment, and they were both gorgeous. We had lunch in the dining room, and the food was fantastic. The people were very nice to us. They showed us the gym, which was very nice.

The staff at Fairwinds was friendly and helpful. The attitude of the people living there seemed to be happy. I went over for a meal, and the food and preparation was fine. It was a very nice salad. The chef came over to see how we were doing. They have a pool, a salon, and a game room. I was pleased with the visit.

Fairwinds at Desert Point is right in the neighborhood where my parents live independently now. They are not there yet, but they are on a waiting list because that's the one they choose. The dining option is good. The staff is friendly. They seem to get along well. They seem to like their residents. They like their job, and they want to care for the residents.

Fairwinds Desert Point is near my parents' home, so once they have an opening, they can move very close by. There are good shopping areas nearby in their neighborhood and things they are familiar with. So, they are not changing neighborhoods. They are very nice. Everybody there is very welcoming and very helpful. They answer every question I have. The rooms are not really large; it will be nice if they have high ceilings. It is nice to have that more spacious feel. They have lots of activities, They have exercises. They have a beauty shop. They have different classes. It seems like a good place. They take the residents out every day to a different place. So, it seems that it will be a good transition for my parents to not have to drive when they have places to go. They have nice dining options. From the rent that you pay every month, you have a $400 credit so you can take from that for the meal you want to take every day. So, you have some options if you want from morning, afternoon, or evenings. It seems like they have good food. They have a little cafe for in between times, so you can have snacks. They have a nice welcome guests thing there, and you can go there at any time and have a meal if you like.

Fairwinds is a great place for both my parents. The staff is great. The rooms are big and roomy. They are very well kept. There's lots of activity to do. They have about anything you could want to do. Everybody is friendly and nice. And the facility is close to where we live, so that is one of the major concerns.

I had a friend who was over at Fairwinds. I was very impressed with this place. There's a lady there that I happen to call on frequently. Her apartment was really lovely with a mountain view. She was perfectly content with the people there, with the meals, the services, andthe program that was offered to her there. I think it's a really lovely place to live. I had a very good relationship with the staff while I was making my visit there. They're excellent. My other friend who was living there was in assisted living. They thought it was a lovely place to live. The ambiance of the place, the staff, and the management were excellent. I was very impressed with it myself, and I thought perhaps I could consider that in another 10 years. I've been told that the food has been very satisfying. The apartments are lovely. I think it was built a while back, so they're a bit larger than the more modern ones. My friend was allowed to have a cat. She actually had two cats at one time.

The staff seems to enjoy their jobs and are neat and professional. Overall the place is very well lighted and is a nice place for anyone to live. It seems to be a little understaffed, but they get the job done. The meals cooked there are different every day and are of good quality. The only problem I have with this home is that like in many homes, things seem to disappear almost every week. Whether they are being stolen, taken by other patients, or being used for other patients I don't know. But if you have something in your room you shouldn't have to worry everyday about it being taken. Other than that the patients there seem to be happy and the rules aren't ridiculous. So overall this is a good place for someone to live that wants to be comfortable and taken care of.

At first glance I was very impressed with the way the building and it's surrounding looked. The staff seemed very pleasent and was always smiling. The entry way and main room are very open and well lighted through natural light comming in through the windows. As part of the vistit/tour you get to speak with a representative over lunch and I felt that the dinning room was a bit small. The food was great and I was able to order what I wanted, not just option A or option B that you get in most places. The rooms were a good size and had different options in floor plans for those who live alone or if they have a spouse and need a little larger room. There were also many different levels of care that we could pick and choose from. It was a build your own package. We were able to select having her laundry done and med reminders performed but allowing her to still be independent in other areas. I'm a huge fan of that because I feel that it's extremely important to let an individule do as much as they can for themselves before steping in to help. The overall environment was very friendly and they seemed very involved in getting the residents active in different activites that they provide. I would highly recommend this facility.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I have visited my grandmother multiple times at Fairwinds - Desert Point in Tucson, Arizona. It is quite a drive from her original house and sits fairly alone in an undeveloped area. There is plenty of parking for visitors as well. Once inside the building that my grandmother resides in, I was impressed. There is a huge dining room where my grandmother hangs out with the friends she has made. There is also a bar area to watch sports or the news where I had a delicious panini that was reasonably priced. The residents are given a meal card that they withdraw funds from for activities and meals in the dining area at a discounted rate. My grandmother's room was down a very long, very narrow hallway that did not have railing for assistance. The room was nicely sized and my grandmother would complain, "It was still way too much room for just her." For example, her living room had enough space for 3 chairs and a large entertainment center containing her television. Her patio led straight to a nicely landscaped courtyard that got just enough shade for being in the Arizona heat. Overall the residents seemed very happy. My only sad experience was when a family member and I were playing pool and watching a football game on the television upstairs. A resident came in bewildered by the fact that we were in the room since she used it for her personal television room at that time, despite the fact that an unused entertainment area was in the next room. It was awkward and very sad. The staff did not seem overly pushy or micromanaging, which I think is a good thing. I would recommend Fairwinds - Desert Point.
