We liked The Highlands. We looked at assisted living and independent care. What I liked the best was the cleanliness and organization. It was well done. We chose it because of the location. It was centrally located where all the kids were located. The staff was great. She was knowledgeable. She helped us identify some of the questions that we didn't even know to ask. She was very engaging and very accommodating. She was good. We went to two of the rooms. They were very nice, clean, and cozy. They were just exactly what my father might need if and when we get to that point. I've got several emails from them to come back and bring Dad back and sit down and have a meal and experience it. They're very accommodating that way. The dining area was open-air. It was nice. It wasn't isolated. The people could sit together. There were activities. There was a library and an exercise area. I think they're very good at what they do. The place was clean and accommodating. There was plenty of staff. I got a good feeling, better than all the rest of the places we toured.

I was a resident at The Highlands before. I have high praise for the staff. In the memory care where my husband was and in assisted living, the staff was just excellent. They check in on you. They have an events coordinator that organizes activities for people. The food is very good. The staff, the restaurant, and the food are the highlights. I wasn't participating in many, but they have a very nice, light, airy, cheerful-looking room in which they have art supplies. The events coordinator organizes activities that are recreational or art-related. They have some opportunities for people to just get out by taking a scenic bus ride to different parts of this area.

My parents were at The Highlands. They liked the foods and the amenities. They liked it all. They didn't leave because they didn't like the place, they left because they have a dog. They accept dogs at The Highlands, but because my dad was prone to falling, they thought it might be a handicap for him to have a dog, but his wife wanted a dog, so they had to move because they couldn't allow the dog for health reasons. It's for safety reasons. They thought they might get knocked over. I know my parents were participating in activities, but I just don't know what they were. They had movies and outings, and there were some game nights. The place was newer and kept clean. The outside looked great. They were very good. It's just they didn't think it was safe for my dad to have a dog. The overall experience was good. It was solid care. It was very expensive. But the staff were pleasant, patient, and caring. Their dining setup was very good, and my parents liked the food, too.

The Highlands was very nice, warm, and welcoming. It was a Sunday and there was a choir group singing. I was pleased to see that and it seemed like they'd have a lot of activities for their residents. The tour leader was very, very pleasant and the rooms looked very nice. The dining room looked good as well. I would have preferred to see tablecloths on it though. They have at least three floors and the floors have something to do with the level of care. They have a lot of homes around it, too. You could live in one of them. You have one meal a day. Their common spaces also were nice and there was a library and an indoor saltwater swimming pool. I thought it was very sensibly laid out.

I toured The Highlands, which was lovely. The staff were lovely. The only staff that I met in my own search was a marketing person who was fine, very knowledgeable, friendly, and made it a pleasant visit. The price is just out of my range. I just think they're more expensive than I can manage. There isn't any other reason not to go there. The facility was very beautiful. They have put a lot of effort into the neighborhood of the cottages. There are different levels of cottages as well. They're very attractive on the inside and the outside. It's very well maintained. I assume they have a large maintenance staff because everything looks like a golf course. It looks like it's been mowed all the time.

The Highlands looked very pleasant; we looked at both the rental units and the to-buy ones. The staff who assisted us was very friendly. We looked at several houses, they were very nice, and we looked at one of the apartments which would probably suit best for one person. The place was nice, neat, and clean, and the staff seemed friendly.
