I visited The Chelsea at Tinton Falls. The receptionist, the director, and the person that did my tour were all wonderful. I liked that at the end they had warm sconce waiting for me to go. The facility reminded me of a bed and breakfast type of facility. They had a private dining room, it's very nice. It's a private dining room for a resident to use with their family. The main dining room, I would rate a three. It looks okay but wasn't glamorous. I knew it was an older facility, so it was clean, warmly decorated, and welcoming. I didn't get to try the food, but it looked good. They had barbecue ribs that night, and they smelled delicious. They had samples of each dish that was being served that night. So, you could see a visual of the meal for the day, like the chef's selections. As the residents walked in, they could see what was offered. I thought that was nice. I was at a point where I was trying to find a place that would take my mom. I loved the people that I met, and I was caught up in the people and I liked the people. My brother came in and he looked at the building. He saw the cracks in the wall, the need for repainting, and things like the worn-out carpet. I didn't notice any of it because I was focused on the different aspects. So, if we are looking at the building part, I think it's average, especially because it's older. They can improve with maybe small updates and repairs, there were things that need to be updated and repaired.

I toured The Chelsea at Tinton Falls. It's very quaint, like a bed and breakfast. It's a small facility, only 75 residents. It was clean. In terms of activities going on, they had current events; they had someone reading the newspaper going over current events for the day. That was all that was going on that day. I saw one building; memory care is on one floor and assisted living on another floor. The staff was super friendly, and warm. They sat down and spent time with me before I toured the facility. They got information on my dad. I like the idea of the medications being locked up downstairs. So, in order to get your medication, you have to come down and get it, versus them bringing it to your room. It forces the residents to come out of the room. I like the idea that there were only 75 residents, that it's very small, and that they have a variety there of ages, from people in their 70s to people over a hundred. They did, on my way out, give me hot scones to take home, which I thought was super sweet. There's nothing available right now.

The Chelsea at Tinton Falls was nice. It's a little older as far as decor and the facility itself, but still in very good condition. The staff member who assisted us was extremely helpful and friendly. The dining room looked nice. They had a nice garden outside for the residents and community rooms inside. The apartments were very nice, and the facility overall was very nice and clean.

My mother has been in The Chelsea at Tinton Falls for a month. We like the size of the rooms. It is very clean. The people who work there seem very caring and attentive. They have activities and serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If I have a question, there is always somebody who will give me the answer. They have a salon and do laundry once a week; they do not mix her laundry with other people's.

I was not very impressed with my visit/tour of the Chelsea. To begin with, there was almost no parking available when we came. It's located off a major highway but there's nothing around it, if you wanted to take your family member out for a walk. The building is showing it's age and it's kept overly hot. The rooms are small, dark and claustrophobic. I do love the built-in seats in the showers though! None of the residents there seemed happy, there was no interaction at all going on. The staff went about their business, none of them said hi or even seemed to notice we (or any residents) were there at all. I found the atmosphere very unfriendly, uninviting and sterile. I don't think it would be a good place for my father at all.

We liked The Chelsea at Tinton Falls, and I particularly liked the activities they offered and thought it would be a good match for my mother-in-law; however, they only had studios available. They have 1-bedrooms, but they have a waiting list for those. The overall facility would also be a good match, and it had a very nice atmosphere. They had an area where residents could put up information that's meaningful for them. What they had to offer for living was really a negative for us.

The Chelsea at Tinton Falls was right in the center of everything. The location was very good. They were very nice and very accommodating. Again, it had three meals, and it was more than I needed. I just put myself down and said, "Okay, that one I had to pursue, if and when I needed it, because the driving and the location was so good." They were very nice.
