I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom was at Weinberg Village. It's an older facility. However, the grounds are inviting. There is a nice outdoor courtyard. They are still working on making improvements to the interior. They've recently updated the flooring. They've repainted and they've put in new casual furniture in the common areas. They are systematically going through rooms and repainting and freshening them up as they become available for another new resident. They are on top of many, many things. Unfortunately (and I think Weinberg Village is not alone in this), assisted living facilities are always in need of good-quality staff. The staff that they had were very, very caring for my mom. Could they have used more hands at any given point in time? Absolutely. There are only so many residents a caregiver can attend to. And if multiple residents ring their bell all at the same time, they do have to prioritize, unfortunately, but the care my mom got, I thought, was very, very good. The dining area was very nice. They had tables set up where some residents were assigned to a seating table for all their meals so that they were able to socialize with people regularly, which I thought was very, very good. The food was okay, not gourmet, but very tasty and served from a working warming kitchen in the dining room. In terms of activities, they had bingo and word games. They had entertainment coming in regularly in the afternoons. They had movie days. Residents were also allowed to go out in small groups for lunch off campus.

I visited this facility

We are choosing Weinberg Village for my mom. It is a very nice place, and the location is ideal for the family. As soon as we walked in, we immediately liked it. The rooms were very nice. They had a couple of different floor plans available. It's a 33-acre gated community with a Jewish community center next to it. When you walk out into their garden area, there's a lake and it has a water feature in it. It's just very serene. The staff was extremely nice. They were all very helpful and welcoming. Everybody was very friendly. We just had that feeling that it was going to fit in. They were in the process of refurbishing everything, but it was almost finished when we were there. The building is 2 stories. At the end of each hallway is an activity area. They had bingo, cards, Rummikub, and entertainment once in a while. One night I was there, they had a saxophonist and it was very nice.

I visited this facility

I went to Weinberg Village and did a tour. They were super nice. It's an older facility, it's a Jewish community, so in the memory care part they were not keen about somebody who was very social. The price was right, it just wasn't the place for Dad. The staff was nice and pleasant. It was clean, it just smelled. The dining area is more like a cafeteria type.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I'm currently at Weinberg Village. The quality of the food is not good, but the care is very good. They provide transportation to doctors and to activities provided within the community. They need to improve on their exercise facilities.

My mother-in-law moved into Weinberg Village. The appearance is excellent. They take very good care of the grounds and they take very good care of the place. Overall, I think the staff is attentive. The CEO made some inappropriate comments and had a bizarre attitude about what my mother-in-law could and couldn't do, and how they would accommodate that. Leaving out the CEO, I would give the staff members four stars. The dining area is nice, but my mother-in-law doesn't like the food. Basically at this point, she just gets the same thing pretty much everyday. It is all kosher food, so it can be a little challenging for people who aren't used to that. There are some restrictions in terms of the kosher part that she is not very pleased about. I know they offer lot of activities, but unfortunately, she doesn't really choose to participate in any activities. I think overall their options for activities look great.

I visited this facility

I visited Weinberg Village, and what I really liked about that place was the staff. They were really interactive. Even when we were doing the tour, the girl would stop, she knew everybody's name, and she would ask them if they getting where they were needed to go. They were very caring. The layout was OK. It wasn't a huge place, and I thought that helped a little bit. It was very well appointed. The rooms were kind of small, but the staff made up for it.

I visited this facility

The people working at Weinberg Village were very warm, very caring, and very professional. My father would be having a big studio. Unfortunately, we lost my mom about a month ago because we were hoping to have them both there. The room was spacious enough. There was always something going on, and it was more on intellectual stimulation. They tried to get the people out of their apartments. It was more of an assisted living complex, but they do have much higher level of care than a regular assisted living. It was like a cross between skilled nursing and assisted living. They had a security guard before you could even drive on to the premises, and everything inside was up to code. My aunt was there 14 years ago, and I had full confidence that they would be taking good care of my father. They weren't gonna take him until they felt that he was active and healthy enough for them to take care of him.

I was looking for a facility for my Mother-in-Law. Wineberg Village is very clean, it has lots of activities, and serves Kosher food. The director is wonderful he is a little old fashion and understands that this is more than likely the residents last stop. He has a facility wide meeting every month to talk to residents and find how they are doing and if they are happy. The building has just been renevated and is very nice. There is a bell that residence can ring when they need something. There is a 5 min response time and if the bell is not answered a text message goes to the director.

About Weinberg Village Assisted Living in Tampa, Florida

Our Story:

Tampa Bay did not have a viable Jewish assisted living facility where residents of all faiths could call home. Weinberg Village was born in 1995 with the goal of comfort, delicious traditional Jewish and kosher food, and a campus where young and old could interact and benefit from one another.

Weinberg Villages has been on a mission since it opened to enrich the quality of life of our residents and enable them to enjoy a full, active, and meaningful lifestyle in a familial community with Jewish values and culture.

The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation has awarded a $1 million matching grant to Weinberg Village to establish the Weinberg Village endowment with the TOP Foundation. The endowment’s purpose is to ensure the availability of a quality Jewish assisted living environment for any Tampa Jewish elderly who need the assistance offered at Weinberg Village.

In the late 1930s, Harry Weinberg pledged his then-modest assets to enable many German Jews to reach safe havens in America. As Harry’s means increased over many years, so did his support of the Jewish community. This commitment remains at the core of the Weinberg Village philosophy.

Our Property:

Village Assisted Living residences share 33 beautiful acres with the Jewish Community Center and JCC Preschool. The intergenerational campus allows our residents to enjoy all the benefits of each facility.

Residents love it when the JCC Preschool celebrates secular and Jewish holidays by reading together, playing games, or just sharing time, it is always special.

Intergenerational programs create an atmosphere of infectious energy, joy, feelings of inclusivity, and increased self-esteem for the residents and children.

Our Staff:

The staff at Weinberg Village become family to our residents, many of whom have been with us for over 20 years. It is common for our staff to care for generations of residents within one family.

The dedication of our team, the connections they form with our residents and their families, and their trust in one another are spectacular and rare.
