Novellus Cypresswood was an okay place. I just didn't see my mom being there. I don't know what it was specifically, but I just didn't find it comfortable. The staff seemed knowledgeable. I went without an appointment, so I think maybe the person who would normally show you around wasn't there, but someone else did. And they seemed to know a lot. I didn't like that the "assisted" was upstairs, you have to go up an elevator. I just felt like if there was some sort of emergency it might be difficult for my mom to do stairs. The atmosphere was good. It was all right. But it didn't feel as cozy as the other place.

I would have preferred my father to go to the Novellus Cypresswood. The rooms were a little bit smaller, but I liked that place. It was a combo assisted and active living. Everybody is together there. My father felt like there were too many assisted living. The people were a lot worse off than my dad there, that's why we didn't pick that place. The staff was very nice. They had a salon. I liked it because it was close to Collins Park, and my dad worked at Collins Park. He can go out the back door and he can ride his bike, and it looks safer to get there. It was very clean. They provided transportation.

My mom will be moving into Novellus Cypresswood. We like the atmosphere. Their facility is nice. They have nice dining areas, places for the residents to do crafts, and outside areas. They have a big porch on the second floor that's nice for them to sit on, and it backs up to a park. I liked that everyone on the staff was very friendly and nice. They greeted me and were very welcoming. I saw residents that were socializing with one another and eating together. I saw some of them doing crafts together, and some sitting on the porch. It just seemed like a good atmosphere. They seemed to keep the residents busy. I know they take them on outings, take them to church, and that kind of thing. Those are the things that I was looking for more than necessarily amenities. I was looking for the atmosphere and the socialization. I wanted to see that residents don't just stay in their rooms because that's what we want for my mom. The refrigerator and microwave are included, no matter which room you choose. You have to furnish your own hygiene supplies and things like that. I want to bring our own furniture to make the room homier, but I don't know if they furnish it. The staff who showed me around was great. She showed me everything. After I left to tour somewhere else, I called my daughter to meet me back there because I wanted a second opinion. They weren't expecting us, and the staff was very open; she said, "Oh, yes, I'll give you the whole tour, too" without an appointment or anything. So, that was very nice of her. They gave me a box with two little cheesecakes as a gift and I ate those, but I didn't eat a meal. It was really good. We chose assisted living and we're going to start there. I saw the memory care, and the residents were busy there, too. They had them all out in their little area, and they were all doing a project. That was impressive too.

I was so impressed with this facility which is now owned by Novellus. From the day my dad moved in until his death I have been 100% satisfied. The chef always made good food and knew what my dad liked. He was also kind and checked in on him on a personal level. The activities coordinator is amazing. This is the main reason I moved my dad over. There were great activities scheduled throughout the day. The team always worked hard to get everyone engaged. From field trips to just gathering and having conversations they were great. Then the care staff was so compassionate. Not only did they take care of my dad, but they also kept me updated and they truly loved my dad. Dad was at this location for approximately two years, and I am grateful for this community and staff!

We went here and it was nice and the food was excellent. It was all very nice and very clean, and everybody was friendly. We were there at lunchtime so there weren't a lot of activities going on because everybody was at lunch. They have a gym that my friend liked, they had an outdoor area that was nice where you could go sit, they do movies and different kinds of games and stuff.

I chose here because of the director and the nurse. When I went in and sat down to talk to them, they were very thorough. I asked them a lot of questions about our situation and important things about my brother's dementia. They explained everything to me, even when they haven't met him yet. I sat down and talked with Sherry, and it was about an hour; she was very thorough. She took me around to show me the place, the rooms and introduce me to everybody. I also spoke with the nurse, Tamika. She was very thorough, understood, and went through the same thing with her grandmother. She was fully knowledgeable and knew what was going on with them. Then the following day, she came to the house and did an assessment on him and talked with him to see what he can do. I like Ella and her interest. I like how they came to follow up and came to the house to check on how my brother is doing. They have a rapport with the VA to give him assistance and everything, so that's what made me decide on them. They have a salon, the dining area, the movie area (where they go to movies), and a sitting area to watch TV. They also have a walking path, and they're right by a huge park.
