The rooms at The Village at Buckland Court were a nice size. They had no stoves in the kitchen, but they had microwaves in them, which was a very good thing. I feel that safety is foremost and what I want for anyone who is going in there, especially my family. I liked the fact that they had several seating areas around the building so they wouldn't even have to leave the building to get drinks or get anything. It's a very nice, self-contained place. They have three meals a day and open visitation times. It's more of an apartment building. Overall, it's a very nice place. The staff was very open and helpful about any information I wanted to know like if there was anything that was missing or any questions I might have. They were great. They have a lot of activities and they take residents out for various things, including shopping trips or field trips to museums. The activities they had were pretty involved. While they may not have been extremely physical or strenuous, which is good, the building was very large so you have plenty of room to walk around and get exercise. They also have outdoor areas that the residents can utilize. They're very close to the walking area of the shops at Buckland so if anybody wanted to get out and about, then that's available as well. The place was very comfortable and clean. It's top-of-the-line.

The Village at Buckland Court was very homey. It was beautiful and very clean. The room was very nice. They were getting it ready for somebody else to come in, so they were working on it, but it was a very nice room. The person who accommodated me was awesome. She's very good. She was very helpful and very thorough with everything. She was able to answer all our questions. The dining area was very clean and nice, but we didn't try the food. They were doing holiday decorations in the art room, which was very nice. They had a nice big art room.

I enjoyed my visit to The Village at Buckland Court. I thought Jessica, who took me on the tour, had a lot of energy. She was very knowledgeable. I like what she told me about the facility. It's set back from the road, so it's quite pretty. I saw a studio apartment and a one-bedroom, and for my purposes, so the studio works better. I also liked how they encouraged the studio apartment experience because their goal is to get the residents out into the community doing activities and socializing. That's the main reason I'm looking for a residence for my mom, she's looking for more socialization. I went around noon time, so lunch was going on. I didn't see any specific activities going on, but I did see the activity opportunities for that particular day, which provided a lot of options. The dining room was just a room at the top of the stairs; it was kind of typical. The place was very well maintained. Just from my one hour there, I was very impressed. My only concern was that it felt big to me, and that was the only drawback. But the person I met with mentioned that if your room isn't down certain hallways, there is no reason for you to go down that particular hallway, so I guess that makes it a little smaller. But that was my only concern and it felt very spread out.

The Village at Buckland Court was very, very nice, and newer. The people are very nice. Budget-wise, it was way too expensive. The room was nice. They have pretty much all the standard amenities.

We went to The Village at Buckland Court. My impression of the place was very good and very well-run. I'm very impressed with the director and her dog. Her dog just about won us over. We love the place. They have beautiful, beautiful common areas and huge, open, spacious hallways. The place was designed to be very conducive for people to hang out together in the common areas, in the halls, in the big rooms downstairs, huge grand rooms with couches and pianos. It's absolutely beautiful the way they did it. What I didn't like were the rooms. The apartments were not as nice as the other facility. They didn't even offer kitchen cabinets or counters. It was a well-run, beautiful place. However, the rooms were small and too basic. The staff who welcomed us was outstanding. She was extremely personable. She did a great job. She had her dog with her that we fell in love with. They encouraged dogs there and that people bring their dogs to come in and visit. We're all huge dog people, so she wanted us over there. She had a great personality, very welcoming, so much so that we were practically sold on the place even though we knew my mother wouldn't want it.

I went to The Village at Buckland Court and I spent some extra time there afterward. They indicated that they do attempt to do end-of-life care unless it gets complicated. That's a little bit more than I've seen in some of the other places I saw. I toured the memory locked up apart. In and out, you had to dial. There were coded doors and all that and I thought that's very good. I've seen that at all the memory-locked-up units I toured. They showed me a one-bedroom that was going to be fixed up (as it turns out) for my friend. It was going to be painted and all that, but it was a single private unit. They also had doubles, but we did not tour that. We went through all the essential facilities, that's why I discovered my friend. We saw the main room and being winter, we looked out a window to see the courtyard. We saw all the central parks there. The initial interview was held outside in the assisted living portion. The place was cozy. When I was there, my friend had to be taken care of the toilet wise and I watched them transferring him into a wheelchair and all that sort of thing. Everybody seemed competent. Everything looked relatively new. I think it was built in the last 10 years. There's nothing wrong with it. I saw the activity area. The central area where my friend was located was kind of small and cozy, and it had about six residents sitting there facing each other. A good number of them were unable to move on their own and people were walking in the corridor.
