The only thing the staff at MountainBrook Assisted Living showed me was assisted living because she didn't have anything available for memory care. All the rooms I saw were private. They had a dining room area and a living room area, and at the time I was there, they were doing a Bible study with the residents. I did not like the layout of the place. It reminded me more of a hospital layout. It's institutional instead of apartment-type areas that some of the others were. They have different buildings for the different levels of care like their memory care was in a separate building. They also have buildings that are independent living as well. They have a courtyard, a little room where they were doing the Bible study, and a room to do all the activities with them. My mother-in-law has always enjoyed church and that would give her the capability of having a church or Bible study there and that impressed me the most.

My father has moved into MountainBrook Village. They have friendly staff. They all have been really nice people. It's a nice facility, and the room is also nice. It's in a good location. They have everything, and you can opt in or out of whatever you need. They have house cleaning. They have three meals and have a care nurse. I have tried the food; it's really good. They do football game stuff, and they take them to town. They have different board games and bingo. They have different stuff to do.

We are trying to see if we can get mom in MountainBrook Assisted Living, LLC. They refused her once before, but I am trying to see if we can get them to re-address that. A lot of things have changed, so maybe we can get her in. It started about three years ago initially that we wanted to move her into an independent living apartment. Different things have happened, and now we need the Alzheimer's unit. They are super nice folks. The marketing lady was excellent. It seemed very clean, very nice, and a very well-run place. It is more of a paperwork issue trying to get her in there, but hopefully we can. We are looking for shared rooms at this time. They are sort of in the same room with two beds, a split, and it was very nice. The room comes with most of the furnishings you need. They got the community center where they all come together, and they got all kinds of activities they do with them there. I know they take them once a week to Wal-Mart to get anything they need, and they do transportation to appointments and stuff. I got to tour everything, but I did not see any actual people visiting. I think they are doing visitation in the common area, and they are keeping social distancing and wearing a mask. I know they reduced the restrictions that were mandated. They are trying to ease up some of that stuff now. They're good, and they seem to be on top of the game. I was there during mealtime, and the food looked good and smelled good.

I went to MountainBrook Village. Everything was fine. The room was adequate and clean. There were some exercises going on. The residents have separate areas for activities. They have a small library adjacent to the entrance. However, it's not a place I want to be.

my mother in law, my mother and dad, then my dad alone were in what was then Markhill.. Mother in law had independent apartment first, then care in the main building, Mom and Dad had 2bedroom aprt. for some years, then Dad had one bedroom apt, then room in main building. the main building was when more care was needed and not able to wander alone. I noted someone said the diningroom was too far to walk....there was a golf buggy that made rounds to pick up those that could not walk when my Mother in law was there. All in all, I remember thinking this was not bad and I probably could do it when the time came for myself. it was some 15-20 years younger building then. I have not check it lately, but I am downsizing a large home and have been looking for options, so will be looking into this one again.

Although the facility is a little on the older side, it is definitely "Homey". As soon as we walked in the door, you could hear and see "life" happening ( I think the game they were playing was Hot Potato and the residents were cackling with excitement). This facility is free from odor, and you could see the staff interacting with residents at the turn of every corner. The Administration is very knowledgeable and found the office staff is very accommodating to help. We are very pleased with our visit and will be sharing with our mother about our experience during our visit.
