I am a friend or relative of a resident
My mom passed away, but she did go to Bellavita at Scarborough, and I would recommend it to anybody. It was a wonderful place with great assisted living and great memory care. I very highly recommend it. The people working there were very friendly and gave one-on-one care. For people that could not eat well, the staff members would sit and eat with them. They were always cheerful, upbeat, and happy. They had a lot of activities for the people to do. When I was there to be with my mother all day, they would bring me food. Even though I said I was OK, they would still bring me something to eat. They were really nice. The rooms were of a good size and very well maintained. This building was new as of April, and the rooms are almost like little condos. There's nook where you could sit and read, two good-sized closets and shelves, a beautiful walk-in shower, and sink area. The facility was really nice and looked like a grand, beautiful hotel when you walked in. They had menu posted every day. They allowed me to eat with her every day, and I did not have to pay for anything. I could not say enough good things about the place.

I visited this facility
I visited Brookdale for my mother-in-law. It was a wonderful place. The staff was really friendly, and the rooms were of average size. The memory care unit was open and spacious. There was a fire drill, so I got to see how they handled the residents in case of emergency.

I am a friend or relative of resident
My mother has been in the Memory Care unit since Bellevita Scarborough opened. The cheery homey atmosphere and professional staff has been a refreshing change. In spite of the growing pains of a new facility, all staff have continued to remain professional, helpful and mindful of the needs of both residents and their families.
All the staff, to include administrative, support staff and especially direct care staff take the time to get to know and engage with each resident. The fact that this is their career, not just a job is reflected in both programing, activities and resident interactions.
I am not as familiar with the Assisted Living side of Bellevita, but if the Memory Care side is any reflection, the program should be remarkable.

I am a friend or relative of resident
Absolutely wonderful! My mother is 94 and in Memory Care. We looked at several other Memory Care residences and this is without question excellent.
They have the most update to date and modern approach and philosophy on dementia and Alzheimer's and are able to put that into daily living for each resident with their own activities director, director of nursing, higher staff levels and experienced and dedicated staff.
Since this is new construction, it was designed for dementia/Alzheimer's and is spacious, lots of light, cute dining area with great menu choices, beautiful out door patio and restraint free. So far,it is less expensive then where my mother had previously been. There is a base price and you pay for only the services that a resident needs. My mother has been in independent living, assisted living and now memory care. (We wish Bellavita had been open at the time we were looking for Assisted Living) Our experience has been that if it is a holiday weekend, there is nothing going on. At Bellavita, on Memorial Day the Director brought all the Memory Care residents to Fort Williams for an outdoor picnic. They had a wonderful time!
