I visited this facility

San Dimas Retirement Center is wonderful. My mom is in the memory care. They're able to be outdoors in fresh air and do a lot of activities. The rooms could probably be nicer, but that's just my preference. The staff is great and plentiful, and always aware, very friendly, and engage very well with the residents. They have a library, activities room, TV room, and a cafeteria. They keep them entertained with music and constantly offer them water. My mom's room is fair.

The staff at San Dimas Retirement Center has been very helpful. My mom is transitioning pretty well. The prices are all right for such a clean facility. My mom keeps on commenting about how much she likes the food. They have a lot of activities going on.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I have found a facility for my mother named San Dimas Retirement Center. It is nice. There are two sections in the facility. For assisted living, it is extremely nice. Everything has been redone and remodeled. The rooms are very nice. Everything is very nice. The only problem I have is with the Dementia section where my mother is located. It is not as well kept up. The care is good, but it just isn't as nice looking. The food isn't that great either. On both sections, the food could be a little bit better and a little bit fresher. Instead of just canned goods, more vegetables and better variety. Other than that, it is nice. They keep them up nice. The rooms are clean. It is very nice, and I have nothing to say about that. The only thing I don't really care for is that it is not as nice as the assisted living space. The people there are extremely nice. They are very helpful. I have nothing bad to say about that. The Dementia care section is a locked down facility. It is gated, and you have to ring a bell in order to get in. You have to sign in and sign out. Another reason I picked this place is because my sister-in-law is here. I thought it would be nice if they were together.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My brother is in the dementia unit at San Dimas Retirement Center. It's fine and clean. It recently had some restoration done. He shares a room with a roommate. The room is not spacious, but it is good enough. They also share a bathroom with another room. The food is okay and he has not complained about it. The dining area is clean and it seems like everybody is enjoying the food. My brother watches a lot of TV and I know they have activity where they sing along with them. We are happy with it.

My brother is in the dementia unit at San Dimas Retirement Center. They have a secure unit for people with dementia and Alzheimer's disease. I needed a place that will eventually accept MediCal when his funds get low enough, and this place has what you call a MediCal waiver. They are often very helpful. My brother would rather be home; he doesn't understand that he has to be there and that he can't take care of himself, so they are being very patient with him, and so far everything is OK. And, the price of this place was a little lower than a lot of places. It is just a plain room, and he does have to share a bathroom with another room. He has a roommate, so it's two to a room, and his roommate has a television set. So my brother spends a lot of time with his roommate while they both sit there and watch television. I think the food is OK. My brother doesn't complain about it too much. With his condition, of course, he is not going to be very positive about anything because of the dementia, but he is getting used to it, and I think it is all going to work out. Generally, I like the place, and I think that is where he is going to be staying.

I visited this facility

I visited San Dimas Retirement Center. I liked the old patio portion of the facility. In the middle, there was a grass area where birds fed. The only available room had a shared bathroom. I wanted a private room with a private bath. I tasted the food and it was pretty good. The staff told me that room service came once a day. And the room was vacuumed and the linens changed once a week. However, no room was available for me.

The staff was very personable. They seemed to be very attentive to my grandmother. They seemed to offer plenty of activities and a great social atmosphere for the elderly patrons. The place was overall fairly clean, some of the decor was a bit drab but no more so than any older persons place of residence.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My father just recently moved into a room at the San Dimas Retirement Center. Although I don't have personal experience with this place my brother and girlfriend have. They both say that the grounds and amenities are quite nice. The location is right next door to a Target so should the individual so choose they can do some shopping without worrying about transportation. The residents get 3 meals a day but the food quality has mixed reviews from my father. One day he says it's good. The next? Not so good. The one issue I have is that the staff doesn't seem that well equipped to take care of my father's needs. They have constantly called my brother complaining that he won't listen to them. What do they want him to do? Aren't they there for assistance. It seems their solution is to send him to the hospital since they think he is nuts! So, I suppose they offer some assistance but if a resident is a tougher case they seem to turn their backs.

I visited this facility

I have toured this facility. It is a large retirment center in the front w/ assisted living and a secured dementia unit in the back of the building. It is nice and very spacious. Operated by a large, experienced long term are company and has been in the community for over 30 years. The dementia area is separated from the other areas and it is safe. The staff are experienced in dementia care. The shopping center is located accross the street and their are alot of restaurants also. The facility is located right off the 57 fwy with easy traveling access. The downside is the busy highway it is located on. This can be noisy. I would recommend this facility and it is nice to all three levels of care in one faciility available when a transition needs to be made.
