I visited this facility

I toured this home for my Mom. The property is nestled in a great community and feels like you are coming home. The acre lot has lots of trees and animals to watch in a natural habitat, on a beautiful large deck. The staff taking care of the ladies were all very friendly to myself and the residents. The mealtime was very organized and looked healthy and appetizing. I would feel comfortable placing my Mom here when she is ready.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I love A Touch of Home!! My mother has been a resident at A Touch of Home for 4+ years. When she 1st moved in, she wouldn't get out of bed and always complained that she was dying, in pain, unhappy etc. With the help of a loving staff, owner and better medications, she is up and thriving. The owner even helped her get her food handlers certificate so she could help in the kitchen. The staff is good about making her feel like she is a staff member. (even though she is a resident, shh don't tell her) They find special jobs for her to do, helping unload/putting groceries away, setting tables, leading activities and so much more. I did read the previous comment and wanted to response because I know due to HIPPA, the owner will not feel comfortable responding. I will say A Touch of Home staff does the best they can and sometimes a person will move in that is not a right fit for their Assisted Living. I have witnessed this 1st hand. If a resident is disruptive to other residents, then they may not be a good fit for this facility. When my mom 1st moved in, we didn't know how she would do, being she was living with her family and mental health issues. It was not easy at 1st, but with time and help from the staff, she was able to get settled after a couple of months. She is now thriving; we couldn't be any happier with the care she has received. I would give A Touch Of Home 5 stars PLUS!!!!!!!

My aunt lives here. She raised me so she’s very important to me. I had to make a decision on which facility to put her in and I’m so thankful and blessed that I came across A Touch of Home. There are no words to describe it, the tour was so easy, I fell in love with the place so fast and knew it was the safest and most genuine home I could find my aunt to live in for the rest of her days. I visit her about twice a week and she’s just always so happy and in a good mood when I see her. I’m so happy i found an environment for her where the staff is very involved as well, they have movie days and go outside for lunch on nice days, etc. It’s overall a loving place. She loves every one and thank you to the staff also...you girls are wonderful and so sweet. God bless

I am a friend or relative of resident

My mother is a current resident here. My siblings and I chose this place because it was literally like a "touch of home". The home is older but well-maintained. The grounds are lovely, lots of places to sit on the deck or walk on the trail. My mother loves that. The staff is attentive and caring. It does not feel like a "facility" at all. As hard as it is to watch your loved one "fade away", I am comforted in knowing that she is getting all the care she needs at Touch of Home.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My mother stayed here for 8 months. It was the hardest time of my life, since she had Alzheimers and my father was also in bad health. I went to nursing home after nursing home, and each one was worse than the one before it. Just as I was about to give up, we found ATOH. It was exactly what we were looking for! No beeping machines, no nurses bent over giant books always writing. Instead, there were friendly and loving helpers that made my mom feel like she was in her own home. She stayed there until the very end, and I will never be able to thank them enough for the love they showed her. My dad visited every day, and they always welcomed him, too. My mom was happy there, which was an amazing thing, too, since she was overcome with dementia and too hard for us to take care of her. I loved knowing she was safe at ATOH.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mother has lived at A Touch of Home for about 5 years. Everyone has treated my mother and myself like family. She was a frail little thing. She didn't get the best care at the past places she lived at. She has thrived living at A Touch of Home. She has put on weight (she loves the food) and gained strength. I have to say i couldn't ask for a better place . I never find her in her room. She is always in the living room or outside. In fact, I don't see any of the ladies in their rooms much. Their backyard is amazing. The ladies are always doing activities outside when the weather is nice. I will say this home is not brand new. My mother has lived at the new places in the past. They were pretty to look at, but the care wasn't the best. For our family we wanted our mom to get the best care. I have to say she does!

I visited this facility

The facility is called A Touch of Home. It is a private home for women only. It just doesn't meet the need of my friend at all. I thought the staff was very pleasant when I was around. But I didn't hear if they are the same after the visitors left. I didn't try to eat there, because their food was not acceptable. They need to improve the menu because it is not nutritious at all. It is just way full of salt, sugar, and processed food. It is a private home, so they just have large bedrooms with two or three women in each bedroom. They didn't have adequate space. Most of the patients there are not cognitive of what is going on. They just shower, eat, and lay around all day. I thought the security is fine because you have to knock on the door to get into the house.

Provider Response

I’m sorry for your impression of our home. Obviously our wonderful, loving home is not for everyone.

Thank you, for saying everyone was pleasant. We are very lucky to have wonderful staff that has been with us for years. Some of our staff has been with us for over 23 years. Not a lot of homes can say that. We have cameras so we can watch what is going on 24/7. We are always happy to give reference upon request.

We are licensed by TDADS, so we follow their nutrition guide lines. Our food is home-cooked, not restaurant. Granted our food may not be for everyone. That is why we provide options. If someone doesn’t like what we are serving, we offer something different. Ex. I have one that doesn’t like fish, so we make her chicken. That is the nice thing about being a small home. We don’t allow visitor at meal times. Meal time is our time with our ladies, to make sure they get what they need or want. We don’t cook with salt. We do have sugary snacks at times, why not? I would be happy to send a menu upon request.

We are in a house that has been converted to accommodate multiple people with different needs. We have semi and private rooms. We also have one room that accommodates 3 ladies. This room has its own bathroom and a door that leads out to the deck. This room we have open for the budget-conscious lady. There are lots of people that don’t have $3000 +, to spend a month for rent. This is a good option for them. That room is always full! Our ladies aren’t in the rooms very much.

We have many levels of care, some needing a little assistance, to some needing total care. We do our best to take wonderful care of our ladies. I believe that’s why we’ve been in business for 25 years

I visited this facility

A Touch of Home is beautiful -- they’re out in the middle of nowhere and you don’t have to worry about people bugging you all the time. They were having meals when we got there and it was pretty good. The dining area wasn’t big enough. The staff member who assisted us was really nice. The residents were an older age group and I wasn’t ready to move in to that kind of situation, but I would recommend them to anyone with that necessity.
