My sister and I toured Prairie Place Assisted Living, and that was very nice. It was a little dark, but it was very clean. The residents were sitting at the tables, playing bingo or something. The gentleman who assisted us was very nice. The tour experience was very nice. They had very nice rooms with a little kitchenette and appliances, a little living room, a bedroom, and a bathroom. They had an outdoor space. It was like a circle. If it was a nice day, the residents could walk around the circle and it was all grass in the middle. They had raised garden beds so that if the residents wanted to have a tomato plant or a flower, they could go out there and plant it and take care of it, which I thought was really nice.

I've been here at Prairie Place Assisted Living for about three weeks now. It is a wonderful community. The staff is outstanding. Laundry is supposed to be once a week, but when they see you've got laundry when they come in the room, they scoop it up. Laundry is done every day. I'm very immobile, so they help me in and out of bed and I have a hospice worker coming in to help me soak in the tub. They've been wonderful and open to my suggestions and my opinions. It's a good place. There are a couple of younger workers, and I don't think they're prepared for the job yet. If you have any problems, the staff is quick to address them. They'll come to your room and find out what's going on and why you're upset or anything. They're very friendly. They get their job done. It's a clean facility. Their food is decent. Right now, I'm on the CBRF side. I have these episodes where I'm down for two or three days and then they're worried because all I want to do is sleep and it's hard to wake me up even to take my medication. They're very encouraging, and they're not forceful here. You have the right to refuse your medicine and you have the right to refuse your baths. People come in and sing, they all load up in cars, and they go listen to music. I participated in a couple. There's bingo and they'll bring in different pictures and prints of fall leaves and pumpkins and stuff like that for us to color and we can decorate our door or wherever. We had dog therapy yesterday and they try to come every month, but they were here yesterday, so it was sweet. It's always clean, it's beautiful, and it's decorated. The cleaning lady vacuums, even the girls that are CNs come in your room and if they see something that needs to be done and they got time, they go ahead and do it.

My mother was in Prairie Place Assisted Living. It was good as a nursing home and for assisted living. Overall, it's a pretty decent place. She liked the food there, the place was quite lovely, and she had a nice sized room for a really good price. It looked pretty clean, and the staff members I met were extremely nice.

I didn’t like Prairie Place since you have to buy your own air conditioner. It was a nice place, though, that offered meals and other services according to how much assistance you need, but there is a price list for that, too. There is a farm at the back of it with crops and stuff growing.
