I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident
We had mom at Spring Arbor. It's really clean, looks newly painted, is only 12 years old, and is all on one floor. They have a small population of 90, and 70 of those are in assisted living; the rest are memory care. Everyone was really nice and really kind. She went to a couple of musicals where people played music for the audience, and she went to Bingo a couple of times. The dining area is very nice, they had assigned seating -- which I think was probably good -- she seemed happy with the food, and they gave them huge servings.

I visited this facility
Spring Arbor of Richmond did not appeal to me visually, although the surrounding was nice and modest looking; the bedrooms were small. The grounds were limited for walking outdoors, and my dad likes to walk outdoors. The staff was very nice, and they gave me a nice tour. There's nothing wrong with the facility at all; it just didn’t match with what my parents were looking for.

The community that my mother was in is my favorite by far, they just did not do colostomy care, but they were awesome. I would highly recommend them! That's Spring Arbor! My mother was there for three years and I loved it. The staff was just phenomenal. They truly loved their residents and they got excellent care. They're all about serving the residents and their family. They're excellent. Mainly, they were just very loving.
It was a beautiful facility. They have just done some updating. They have built in a new courtyard and they have renovated one wing to be a memory unit and it is gorgeous. My mother was actually a day resident for the last month that she was there. They did not have a room for her, so she kept her same room and it was wonderful. I would rate it a 5. In fact, I have recommended it to two friends who mothers were there now.
Spring Arbor has a lot of activities, e.g., exercise, bingo, bridge and games. They had a van where they took them out to lunch, go on scenic drive, go on little field trips, i.e., to the winery, to museums, to concerts and to apple picking. They even do some service projects with the residents. They also have specials like wine and dine nights and they have special meals for holidays.
