I am/was a resident of this facility

I am staying at GenCare The Lodge at Eagle Ridge. It's surrounded by greenery, and we're quite distant from the road, so it's very cynically pleasant. They have a smoking area. The staff is fine. The food is tolerable and good enough. I have a bathtub, which is very unusual, and I'm very happy about that. I have a large space. I've got two bedrooms, and I'm only one person. They offer two meals a day. They have a lot of activities. They have singalongs and games.

The staff members at GenCare at The Lodge at Eagle Ridge were wonderful. They were very nice and very thorough. The follow-up was great. I like everybody that we talked to. The rooms were a little small, but not bad. They're very clean, and they re-do everything. We saw the room that my mom was going into before it was completely done, but they were redoing it a lot. The grounds were beautiful. There's a beautiful view from the dining room. It was set up pretty much like a restaurant. We went late for lunch, but we were not overly impressed with the food. But they have a really good plan. They serve all organic and things like that. I had quiche, which was way overdone. My mother ordered breakfast, and she said it was really good. They had a lot of activities available. The first time I went, there were some people in the activity room watching a movie. They also had a contest going on with other GenCare facilities on building gingerbread houses. And then there were some people playing cards. They offer a lot of amenities. They have a complete gym with a personal trainer that's in there Monday through Friday, and that was one of their big points for me. They have four nurses on staff. They have a good care plan. They have a beauty parlor. Another thing that I like is they have a nurse from the pharmacy that comes three times a week. They also have a craft room that I thought was cool. They have bunches of supplies in the room that you could use so you don't have to bring your own supplies.

I toured GenCare The Lodge at Eagle Ridge, and it was a very nice place. The staff was very nice and helpful, and they were ready to sign me up. I liked that it was way up in a mountainous area. They had walking paths all around the area for people who had their pets. You could bring all your stuff in the room. It had ample closet space, and it was just very inviting. There were hiking areas and mountains, which you could see from your room. There was nothing blocking your view. It was just very nice. The building itself was beautiful. If you're an outdoors kind of a person, you would get plenty of activities in that area. They had buses to take you places.

GenCare The Lodge at Eagle Ridge was nice. My only problem there was the parking wasn't great. It was very clean and very well laid out. The halls were wide. They would be great even if you were using a wheelchair or a walker. I like the place. The staff were very personable, and they answered all my questions quickly and accurately. I was very impressed. They had some activities going on in the main living area when I was there. It was like a cornhole tournament or something like that. The rooms were okay. They were a little on the small side for my liking, but if I had more in mind what I wanted at that point, it probably would have been acceptable to me.

I toured GenCare The Lodge at Eagle Ridge. It was a good experience. Everything looked nice. They were well organized. However, I don't think my parents were ready to do it. The one who gave me the tour seemed a little stressed out because I think she was the only one there at the time or something happened. I think she was feeling a little stretched thin. I think the overall experience was OK. It was satisfactory. The apartments were nice, but they were small. I think that was probably the number one thing that my parents were having a hard time with: the small amount of space that was involved with most of the places. Maintenance seemed fine. I thought the dining area was nice, but we did not try the food. When I got there, it was around the 4th of July. They had lots of decorations up. It seemed like everyone was happy. They had lots of activities.

Provider Response

Sonia, Thank you for visiting us and sharing your review. I hope you and your parents come back to visit us again and try out our delicious food next time! It is always made from scratch, here on-site. We also offer complimentary fitness and balance assessments with our certified fitness trainer if this would interest your parents. Our apartments range in size from 338 sq. feet up to 1,050 sq. feet. Many residents don't spend a lot of time in their apartments but prefer to be out and about participating in the engaging and enriching activities we offer. Our vast common spaces both inside and outside, enhance the overall spacious feel to the community.

I went to GenCare The Lodge at Eagle Ridge. It will be too expensive for my relative right now, but it was great. I enjoyed the walkthrough. Patricia was very thorough and very kind. It's just a nice friendly place. The accommodations were great. They have a lot of different things that he will enjoy. She took me to the rooms and I toured two of the rooms, which were the perfect size for him. Everything's just great. I walked through the fitness center and she took me to where the garden is. If he wanted to do golf, he could do that. It was just a great experience.

GenCare The Lodge at Eagle Ridge had a much more green area. It was more open than the other place and I liked that. It was very up-to-date and modern. I was extremely impressed with the director. She was a great hostess. She took me around and showed me everything. They don't have any kind of staff turnover. Everybody tends to stay, which was great. The rooms were good. Patricia sent me a list of hiking facilities that I could easily get to from there, which is something that I'm very interested in. She was very upfront about the cost. She volunteered information, which really impressed me. She was open and transparent. I liked that facility. We walked through the dining room and talked to a few people who were eating there and they seemed to be enjoying their food. She knew everybody by name and they knew her, so it was a good feeling. They do extensive cleaning and renovation with each new tenant, so that was impressive, too. They were doing a lot of renovation.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My brother moved into GenCare The Lodge at Eagle Ridge. We chose it because he wanted to live in Renton. Three meals a day and housekeeping were important. It's clean and bright, and it's well-staffed. It has a warm supportive community atmosphere inside. It gives a feeling of caring for the people and I think they look after one another. He is very happy with the food so far. He's not been there long enough to do activities yet, but it sure looks good to me. The facility is excellent. I don't think we could have done it or not readily done it if not for their moderate-income program. For moderate-income, you get a reduced rate, which is significant. It's only been two days, but we're completely satisfied. They have a salon and a gym, and they also offer free physical therapy and personal training. The gym looks good and got all the equipment.

I toured GenCare The Lodge at Eagle Ridge. They had plenty of nurses. It was just a nice place with a beautiful view. My father is also familiar with that because it used to be an Elks Lodge that he was a member of years ago, so it was a familiar thing. It was excellent. I think they do a wonderful job. The staff who toured me around was very informative and very helpful. They took me to see several rooms. I like the rooms. They weren't exactly what I was looking for. I don't know why people put carpeting in places like that. But other than that, it was fine. Some of the refrigerators were small, too, and I thought that was weird. They have a courtyard, but no pool.

I toured both independent and assisted living of GenCare The Lodge at Eagle Ridge. The community seemed very open. They seemed to be pretty at ease with everything. The facility itself made me think I want to move in there. The staff who gave me the tour was outstanding. The rooms were a little small, but manageable. They have a Friday happy hour, weekly outings, live music that comes in once a month, an exercise room, a pool table, and a reading room. The outdoor spaces were pretty peaceful and well-manicured; it was just a lovely vision.

My mom will be in an apartment at GenCare The Lodge at Eagle Ridge. She'll have her own apartment and they'll come in and check and help her with certain things. I like the atmosphere, the environment is just very pleasant, and the different levels of care will be useful. I think the apartments are all laid out well and they're very comfortable, clean, and nice. They all have nice different kinds of views because there's nice landscaping outside for people to look at. The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly and accommodating.

We went to GenCare The Lodge at Eagle Ridge. The director was most gracious and most kind because it was before Halloween. She was extremely busy, but she took an hour out of her schedule and gave us a good tour. It was nice because they had cottages, which we would prefer, and she showed us one room that had just been rented and it was huge. We were really surprised. We like facilities that give us space. It was one of the better ones that we saw that we were interested in. Because of COVID, she just took us in safe areas. We really didn't see the dining room, but that was OK. She showed us an apartment that was vacant. Right now, everybody is on lockdown. One thing that's good there was they don't have any COVID, so the people are able to go into the dining area. We saw the dining area from a distance, and they had huge windows. That's a big thing because I'm a person that needs light and I cannot live in a dark facility. As we walked around the facility, my husband said this is the place that he would like to go. The entry where the desk was could be more appealing. The facility was nice. It just didn't have any place for you to go outside, but because of COVID maybe they just didn't show it to us. A lot of places have trails or places to walk and I didn't see that there, but we didn't really look for that. It's kind of in a neighborhood and the lot next door was not taken care of, so it was all weeds, so when you drive in it's very unkept and that was kind of a turnoff, too. The facility had a great layout, and the director was great. There's really nothing wrong with that place. The tour was great. I loved the cottages. We didn't go in a cottage, but we heard they were very good. We talked to someone who lived in a cottage, and she loved her cottage. You have a choice of where you wanna live in the main facility or have a homier feeling in a cottage and have your own little place. The dining area had almost floor to ceiling windows. Those are really great things. Some of the rooms were really large.

Provider Response

Thank you for sharing your feedback about GenCare Lifestyle The Lodge at Eagle Ridge. We agree, it is a warm and inviting community with a dedicated and caring team. I also want to thank you for your patience and understanding regarding our current protocol for tours. As an essential business, we do our best to help people like yourself who have a need for housing while always keeping the health and safety of our residents as our top priority. On another note, there is ample outdoor space on the west side of the community and a walking path that circles the entire building. A lot of space to enjoy fresh air!

The Lodge had the nicest facilities, except that it didn't have a pool. The location was a little difficult to get to. The rooms were clean and well maintained. The staff was nice. The pricing was higher than I liked. However, it was the most comfortable of all the places I visited.

The staff and the residents of GenCare Renton were totally friendly. It was very clean, and they had a big room full of people playing some sort of game. It wasn’t bingo, but a game that you can play with a large group of people, and they were having a hilarious time. I’m sure they had great activities. They had a huge dining room that surely could accommodate tons of people. I would rate it 4 stars simply because you have to go everywhere to get things done. It’s a bit far to go for general shopping but when you get there, you’ve got everything. They’re an easy drive to a place called Southcenter Westfield Mall. The staff was excellent. I met a personal trainer and the activities coordinator, who were personable. I know they go somewhere every day in a bus and a van to accommodate as many people as they can when they go on activities all over the Seattle area.

The Lodge at Eagle Ridge is full of caring staff and residents. While it is geared toward independent living, they are very attuned to changes in senior behavior and make recommendations accordingly. The administration is headed by an RN, and the office staff are young, strong and very pleasant to be around. The residents are well cared for with loads of activities for every level of fitness, including a personal trainer for exercise class, on-site salon/barber shop, libraries, worship services, and weekly happy hour with live entertainment. The living quarters are appropriately sized, and the food is mostly good (this is an issue with all senior living). The residents are glad to be living in a place that takes such good care of them.

GenCare Renton at The Lodge was a very nice place, but I couldn't afford the amount. The staff was good -- everything was good. They had bingo, potlucks, and outings. The food was nice looking. I liked that everybody was friendly, it seemed like they all knew their job, and they were helpful.

My mom is in GenCare Renton at The Lodge at Eagle Ridge. The staff is really friendly and helpful. The accommodations are really nice, clean and up-to-date. She has her own private apartment, which is included in the price and they clean it. It is in a good size, appointed well, she has a door not only to the hall, but also to the outside. They allow pets which is really important to her. They have a restaurant there and we usual eat with her once a week. They have their special and a wide variety of choices each night and if it doesn't appeal to you, they also have other menu items which you can select from. The food is really good and prepared really well. If you can't get out, they will bring your food to your room once in a while. It has a lot of different kinds of activities that you can do either on campus or off campus. They have lots of good transportation options. Though it takes them a little while for them to coordinate with her pharmacy to have the medication deliver the medication to her and we usually have to pick them up, I think it is pretty much settled now. Everything seems really good.

Mom is in GenCare, and I feel like she's safe there. They have good nursing staff. The staff is very helpful, caring, and very personable. The feeding area is like a restaurant, and its very comfortable. They have a good menu with lots of choices. They have lots of activities. They have musicians come in. They have trips to stores and parks. I don't know if my mom will ever go on those because she doesn't like to be with old people. It is a larger facility, so it has spacious hallways and group areas. However, right now, their elevator is down, and it’s a little bit frustrating, but I know there aren't many elevator companies in the area, so it must be difficult to get a new one.

I really like The Lodge. In fact, that's where I would like to go. It was up on the top of a hill and it was outside the city. The grounds were very lovely to walk around and that counts a lot to me because the only exercise I usually do is walking. Their hallways were spacious. Their rooms were spacious and their bedrooms were bigger. You didn't have to have your bed back up against the window and this is just a personal thing for me. Their staff was excellent. I thought they were very good. The lady that showed us around does seem to know everything and she was very pleasant to talk to. Their activities looked fine and they're very good. They have little trips here and there, e.g., to museums and to gardens. This facility also provides two meals a day, which would be fine with me because I don't usually eat anyway.

I had a very positive experience with GenCare. Their staff was very helpful in making my decision; they were there every step of the way. They offered me move in assistance as well as a trial period, this allowed my mother to acclimate and further strengthen her choice. The executive director, Tami R., became as close as family to us. We owe her a great deal. The culinary program, created by Bastyr University, featured fresh ideas and a colorful plate. They have a unique health program designed for the low mobility, and the instructor is a wonderfully bright young woman. I recommend this property to anyone I can, I wouldn't mind seeing myself in a place like this when I ripen. I visit this property quite often and I am always pleased with the progress I see both in my mother, as well as in the company. GenCare Lifestyle Inc., not just another senior "home".
