I visited this facility

I liked Sierra Oaks Assisted Living and Memory Care. I was sold on that place the minute I saw it. It was very warm and inviting. It was bright and cheerful, and very well done. They had a nice big dining room. One thing that they had at the assisted living was they had 5 entrees that you could choose from for the meals. They had double rooms and single rooms, and then they had kind of a bigger room if people wanted to pay more. The rooms were very nice. You had to bring your own furniture. It looked like the people all knew each other. The lady who helped us knew the patients, and she talked to them as we walked along. She was a very lovely girl. She was, by far, the best one. She was very attentive and very easy to deal with. They had people that came in to do hair and nails for the residents.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

We chose Sierra Oaks Assisted Living and Memory Care for mom because we liked the very welcoming nature of its staff and the home-like atmosphere. It did not feel like an institution. It felt more like a family. It's light, bright, and cheerful. Their meals just seem a little heavy on carbs. They are very tasty but I would like to see maybe a little simpler food, like steamed broccoli and small pieces of roasted meat. They serve ice cream and desserts afterward, which is fine, but half of that amount would be great, instead of a big full scoop. Everybody is accommodating, friendly, welcoming, and encouraging. They've been wonderful. Many of the residents are active with bingo and other things. Mom has her cat and they are willing to let her have her (and that was kind of a big thing, too). They have a nice walking path around the facility that's suitable for walkers (although they need to get out there and prune back those roses because they attack you as you walk around the walkway). Other than that, they're great. It's a very attractive facility. They have a little putting green out front. The inside is also clean. They don't charge any more than anybody else. They gave us far more benefits for the amount of money we pay.

My father has moved into Sierra Oaks Assisted Living and Memory Care. They're wonderful. They were flexible on move-in. We didn't quite have the money at the time, but they let us move in anyway. They prorated them. We get VA benefits, but we're applying for Aid and Attendance and they do a voucher program for that. They'll take whatever the person can pay at the time of move-in until the voucher kicks in. When they get qualified for Aid and Attendance, then Aid and Attendance picks up the bill and they don't charge the tenant anymore. They were flexible based on income, which was super helpful. The rooms are small, but they don't need a whole lot of space because the common areas are all big. The activities, the meals, and everything, it's all community oriented. They're getting them up and out of their room. They want to be out exercising and physically active. The whole point of being there is to try and rehabilitate some of that strength and everything. It's nice that the rooms are decent; they're about the size of a small hotel room. I'm gluten intolerant. If I go there and eat with my dad and they'd allow me to sit down and eat a meal with them, they'll even serve me gluten-free stuff. Pretty much every day, somebody is doing an activity with the people, and it's up to my dad if he wanted to go. They don't force them to do the activities, but they have a lot to offer to them every day. There's always an activity going on in the activity room at certain times of the day. The staff is lovely, plus or minus one or two bad apples. For the most part, my father appreciates the assistance that he has. They're super willing to work with you. He likes that he gets the meals. He can even have it delivered to his room. He just doesn't like the meals that they choose sometimes and he thinks the quality of some of the stuff that they serve is like soup from cans and things like that. I saw him playing bingo and there were about eight or ten residents in the activity rooms playing along. They all seemed to be enjoying it and laughing when I walked through the room. I think they could do a whole lot more personally. It's very reasonable because they offer a sliding scale for the different years of service, depending on what level of care you need. He was able to move in with no money in his pocket at the time. They allowed us a grace period to come up with the first thousand on move-in. They only require like $1000 to move in essentially if you have it. They were flexible enough to let us go mid-December, but they started his tenancy basically on the 1st of January.

The staff that I spoke with at Sierra Oaks Assisted Living & Memory Care was very pleasant and seemed very caring. She was a nice girl. The facility was a little bit older but nice and clean. The memory care level was kind of separated but it looked good. There were different places where the residents could go outside and walk around the building because it was fenced in, and I thought it was a very good positive thing because my mother loves to walk. I could imagine her walking around the building and having a little bit more space to move around. Inside, the residents were doing different activities. Some were watching TV, some were outside, and some were sitting out on the covered patio. It seemed like a nice big place for people who want to be more active.

My boyfriend and I toured Sierra Oaks Assisted Living and Memory Care, and that's why we decided on that one. It's for assisted living. They have memory care there, but my daughter's mother-in-law doesn't require memory care yet. Everything is very clean and organized. The people that work there are very kind, and it's very homey. The residents love that place. We talk to five different people, and they were off by themselves. We asked all of them what they thought of the place, and they all gave such positive input. The room is a shared room. It's very convenient, and the bathroom area is large. There's plenty of room for both people and their belongings, so I think it's very comfortable. It's very clean, too. They have lots of activities going on, so no one is going to get bored. They have lots of room to walk outside. There are trails and stuff for them to walk in. And of course, if they have to graduate to memory care, they just move them up the hill on the same property, so it's not like they have to be moved. Upkeep is good. Everything is very clean. There's no garbage around. The maintenance people are out working keeping everything trimmed up and stuff, so it looks good. The dining area is small but very personal. They have small tables with four chairs on them, and it was very clean. The staff told us that if it's not something they can't eat, then they can request something else, and so I was very pleased with that, too.

We toured Sierra Oaks. They were very kind and very professional and treated us nicely. They were just really accommodating and answered all our questions. It was for memory care. My husband lost his memory and so he would have needed a lot of help, and they were willing to take care of him, but he passed away. It was beautiful. It's very, very nice. The staff was very friendly, very helpful. They were very forthcoming with answering any of our questions and any information that they felt we could find useful. They were very nice. They had beautiful yards for people to walk around or sit outside. Everything was immaculate. They had a center for entertainment, a TV, different kinds of things that they have, exercise, and things like that for their seniors to do. They were a complete facility, very nice, very well run. All rooms seem to be very clean. Everything that we saw seemed to be clean, orderly and well taken care of.

We toured Sierra Oaks Assisted Living and Memory Care. That was fine, but it was a little smaller. The rooms were smaller than I wanted. It was very easy to find though, and it was a very easy access. It's right adjacent to a highway, so it's easy to get into town. It was nice and clean. The staff was very, very nice, very informative, and extremely courteous. We also checked the dining area and looked at the menu. It was a very nice menu. I wish I could make a menu like that. I didn't sample any of the food because I was there at 10:00 in the morning. I didn't notice any activity in particular, but she showed me the schedule. They have bingo, various activities, and a putting green.

My mother-in-law will be moving into Sierra Oaks Assisted Living and Memory Care. The interaction with the aides there was very evident. I saw them peeking into the residents' doors and saying, "Are you okay? Do you need a little help?" They were checking on them. I saw the ease and happiness of the residents. We looked at two out of three of the buildings. In the other building, they seem to have people sitting down at dinner and talking to each other, which is what my mother-in-law needs. The staff was excellent and followed up with us several times. Their help and level of care are what we liked about them. They were very willing to accommodate my mother-in-law because she eats no pasta of any kind, and they were OK with that. They were in the middle of some renovations. It looked like a very pleasant place to live. It was certainly clean, and we didn't see any worn furniture. It was very nice.

Sierra Oaks has Very affordable pricing and we have been very happy with this lovely community for my uncle. They have a golf putting green and beautiful grounds. My uncle loves to play scrabble and Boardgames in the activities room with other residents. The staff treats him like he’s their Grandpa. Thank you all for the great care and giving us peace of mind.

The grounds at Sierra Oaks Assisted Living and Memory Care were very beautiful. They had a putting green for the residents. They supply putters and balls, and they can go out there and putt. There's a creek that flows through there and a lot of trees and grass to stroll around. However, the rooms were fairly small and there's no shower facility in the rooms. You have to go down the hall and use the shared shower, and I don't consider that to be ideal. The staff was good. The menu looked great but we didn't eat there. It's an excellent location.

I've been to Sierra Oaks more than one time. They always had good cooperation. I find the staff to be certainly adequate. A lot of times the residents would get their laundry back, which is a plus. The facility is adequate. I thought it is good. I saw my brother eating, and it looked all right. I can't say anything bad about it because I'm not there all the time. The facility seems to be fine, as much as one can see just going in and out and picking somebody up. It seems to be fine. They're pretty well organized. I saw my brother go to the dining room; it all looked pretty good.

My mother has been in Sierra Oaks Senior Living for about a month now in assisted living. She is doing really well there. They have activities, but she is 91 years old and not participating. They are doing a fine job. I like all of the people there. She seems to be content.
