I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father stayed at Pleasant Point Senior Living for about eight days. We initially expected to need assisted living and by the time Dad was ready to move in, he was already in hospice and they made that adjustment very nicely. We chose it because of its location and more importantly that they had medical staff onsite 24/7. The room was very comfortable. They allowed us to use their furniture while we were going through hospice. I could see that there were a lot of things for people to do who were still more mobile than my father was. It looked like a nice place if somebody was looking for a place to go if they needed assisted living. The staff was very polite and seemed to be very caring. They employ a hospice group. I don't believe it's their staff. They checked on him every two or four hours at night. I wish they'd been able to get in more often.

I visited this facility

I was accepted at Pleasant Point Senior Living, but in the end, I had to turn them down because they wanted something like $83,000 for me to enter into their facility and I don't have that much money. I would have been the youngest one there. I kind of didn't like that. Everybody was a lot older than I was. I liked the apartment. It had a living room, an efficiency kitchen, a bedroom, and a bathroom. I liked all that and they would accept my piano and I loved that I wouldn't have to give my piano away. They were just so expensive. The staff was very in tune with my needs. They saw me walking with my walker and they saw that I was getting short of breath. So they told me to sit down for a while and I was just glad for their interests. The facility was modern. It was clean. People talked to each other. They were friendly with each other and I liked that. I didn't get to talk to enough of the staff. I didn't get to eat their food. I didn't get to meet any of of the residents, but I saw where I would have lived and that satisfied me a lot.

Pleasant Point Senior Living is the one we picked. My father will move in on Friday. The tour was very informative. The room was very clean. It will work for what my father needs. The dining area was clean and very open. They have a lot of entryways that they can go outside and be outside. Inside, they also have a lot of areas where they can do puzzles or have family time.

The individual that gave us the tour at Pleasant Point Senior Living was cordial. She knew what she was talking about and took us to several buildings. It was just very expensive. It would come out of our pocket and there was no financial assistance whatsoever in respite. The place was nice and clean. They had people cleaning while we were there, vacuuming the common areas, and all of the stuff going on. They were having a little party at the time. They also had a section in there where they were doing crafts when we came through. It was built like a figure 8 and everything was in the center. So, you could go one wing on one way, one wing the other way and you can't get lost. It would certainly bring you right back to the front. So, that kind of setup was nice.

My parent lived there. Some of the staff is good. Very high turnover, always short staffed. The food is so-so. They really don't accommodate for special dietary restrictions. For example breakfast for one of the days this week was scrambled eggs and doughnut holes. The food can be very salty. I talked to some of the residents there and they had complaints about their quality of life but are to afraid to say anything. Some of the residents don't have any family to check in on them. My parent went a whole month without a shower because either they didn't have the time or were too short staffed. Please don't be fooled by niceties do research before trusting them with your loved one. When it comes right down to it they are a business and their main concern is the business.

My uncle is currently in Pleasant Point Senior Living East Campus. His TV went out and one of the workers there, helped him order a TV, and the maintenance man came in and hooked the TV up for him. So he liked that. And they did not charge extra for anything. But the one thing he complains about is sometimes he doesn't like the food. He first went into a 1-room, then after he found out he was confined and he couldn't get up and move around like he really wanted to because he didn't have much room, he up and decided to take the apartment. They've got activities going on there, and he loves to play cards with the guys. The food is really good, but he's not into vegetables and fruits, and when they have that he complains. When he first moved in there, we had a problem with him not getting enough food, and when we talked to the director, they said that all he has to do is ask for more. They got somebody that comes in and does haircuts for him, and they've been bringing in a physical therapist to make him get up and out of his chair to try to walk a little bit. They have a very nice area that they can go out and sit in, they've got bird feeders and stuff like that. He can see the bird feeders out his window into the courtyard. They treat them very well there, they don't charge extra, and he loves the people and workers there. The only thing I have noticed is that they're supposed to have housekeeping come in and vacuum the floors every so often, and they don't do that quite like they should. That's one of the things they need to do a little bit better on. I've had no problem with anybody there when I've called and said things, they take care of my issues.

The rooms at Pleasant Point Senior Living were a little smaller. There's no stove or oven, and I don't recall there being a fob for the residents. I believe you could purchase one separately, but it just seemed kind of odd. What I did like is there's a doctor, a nurse, and a PA that come into the building and see patients. If we wanted to switch to that doctor, then my mother would be seen when he comes there. Our interaction with the staff was enjoyable. The person we spoke with wasn't as familiar with that facility because she didn't work there for a long time at that point, and she was kind of filling in, but for the most part she covered all the bases that we wanted to. The dining area was kind of like in a horseshoe. The tables were more separated from each other. It was not as homey, that's what my mom mentioned. There were fewer common areas there than there were at the other place. What they had is they had a wellness thing and they had more daily activities. Price wise, there was only a couple hundred dollars difference at the base rate between the two places. The fob thing kind of makes me nervous, or lack thereof, because you don't know where anybody is if somebody would fall. However, they have more emergency pull cords than the other place, two in the living room, one in the bedroom, and one in the bathroom.

Christine showed us around Pleasant Point Senior Living and we loved her. She's the director and was very professional. The facility was very modern and clean. My father would not want a kitchen anymore, so they have an efficiency size for him, almost like a studio, which is one room with a mini fridge. They also had the Medicaid benefits kick in when his savings would be gone, which was important to us. The dining room was very clean and also very modern. We reviewed the sample menu and we liked that my father would have options if he didn't like what they were serving. There would be alternatives that he could choose.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I moved into Pleasant Point Senior Living. My room is a nice size. The lunchroom is a nice size. They have activities here. The staff is very good. They do a very good job for me. The food is very good. They have bingo here, activities for the residents, and a ball game. They have a refrigerator in the room. They have patios out here and an area where you can sit out in the front and chairs.

Provider Response

Thank you Greg for your 5 star review. We are so happy you are with us.

My aunt was in Pleasant Point Senior Living. It was really good at the beginning four years ago, but now it has really gone downhill. They had everything; but now, the care level, the food, the communication has gone down. They got rid of the maintenance people. There were a few of the staff that were good. The design is OK. They could improve on pretty much all of things, and the safety aspect they got much to improve on.

My mother-in-law is here, and she likes it, except for the food. The rooms are nice, they do have some activities, and they have some family nights. They have a physical therapist, but they’re getting a new company.

My parents are living here. It's very clean, and they have some excellent staff there, but I wish they had a little bit more. The food is made from scratch. They have very friendly people. I like the place for my parents. It's nice all around. They have happy hour on Fridays, they have Bingo, exercising, storytelling where you tell a little bit about yourself so the residents can learn about you, and they have birthday celebrations. They also accommodate the residents with a shuttle service. They have a lot of things. My father hasn't complained about the food. They listen to him and they try to accommodate. It's worth every penny.

My mother-in-law is here. They have a social calendar of activities and do things quite often. Her room is very nice. They are able to have their own furniture and decorations. They actually use her room as a model to show other people. The place looks clean and nice. The staff is very nice and friendly. My mother-in-law says the food is very good. They have activities, like exercise classes. They have a physical therapist.

We just weren’t impressed at all. The woman who was doing the presentation was interrupted a lot with phone calls. It was more of an older building to us, and it wasn’t something we would put my mom in. It was too much interruption. She always had something that she had to take care of, and that just gave us a bad feeling about the place.

It is wonderful. I have been here since the beginning of May. I chose this facility because of the location. My first impression of it was that it was very clean and neat. The services and care are wonderful. The food is very good. The activities are good. They don't have trips, but they have a lot of in-house activities. I would recommend this facility to others. My room is great. It is very spacious. The facility is very clean.
