I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

We were very happy with the care my mother received. The staff were always pleasant and helpful. It was such a comfort to know that she was safe and well cared for. We are grateful to everyone at the Quakertown Center!

My Mom was in here. Awful place. I worried about her nonstop for the three years she lived there. Filthy shower room. Stunk to high heavens of urine and feces. I don't think the buckets they put under the residents to catch evacuations were cleaned after each residents shower. Filthy private bathrooms too. Rooms weren't too clean either. My Mom's room had ants. My Mom stayed in her room most of the time except on Sundays for church services. Understaffed and many of the aides could have cared less about the residents. Very rude management. Their billing was messed up too. They sent a bill to my Dad after my Mom had died. They billed my Mom for services after she had already passed. Sadly, this is what passes for long term skilled nursing care if you don't have $$$$$.

Severly Understaffed during 2nd and 3rd shifts. Rooms are small. Some staff members are great while others dont want to be bothered some staff members unable to decide when to call 911 when a patient tells them they can't breath. I would not want to be a patient their.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mother was admitted to Quakertown Center with Alzheimers dementia and resided there for several years. Initially I was concerned that the staff did not appreciate the degree of her dementia. For example, she was being seated in the dining room and offered food choices, even though I felt she couldn't adequately feed herself and was completely incapable of understanding and making choices. Also she was being left to choose her own clothing and dress herself each morning, which she could not do appropriately. In retrospect, though, I see that they were encouraging my mother to fend for her self and enjoy the freedom to choose, such as it was, for as long as possible. When she reached the point where total care was necessary, total care was provided with plenty of TLC. Although she recognized few faces and knew no one's name, all the employees at the facility knew her well and met her with cheerful words and smiles throughout her days there. In her final years there, they were her best friends. The facility was renovated a few years back and is very attractive throughout. What I like best about the set-up there is all the wide open space. The corridors are wide, and the lounge and dining rooms are large open areas with high ceilings. They also have a large activities room and a good-sized room for physical/occupational therapy. The layout of the facility allows for windows in all patient rooms, looking out on trees and grass, with every second on third window having a bird feeder outside of it. My point about the space is that you never get a closed-in feeling there, and it actually is a pleasant place to visit. Finally, I'll add that the facility was kept very clean, and rarely was there any odor noticeable because of residents or bedding not being changed quickly. I give both the management and the staff there high ratings for their devotion to quality of care.
