I visited this facility

I saw Quail Ridge two months ago. I liked it better than the other places. I like the manager there, a very good manager. You could see people were content, happy being there, and they did a wonderful tour. And so upstairs, downstairs, I got to see people watching movies when I was there. I wish it had more places to sit outside, they didn't have much room outside, but again, it was just a good environment. The place where people would come to eat was nice. The staff was very good, very polite.

I visited this facility

Quail Ridge does not accept Medicaid and it's all private pay. The place was wide open and immaculate. They had a nice cafeteria area that almost looked like a restaurant. The director was very helpful. The staff member who helped me was very helpful, answered my questions, and showed me all the available rooms.

I visited this facility

Quail Ridge was older, it seemed a little more worn, and I didn't care for their rooms. I would not want my mom to be in one of those. They were nice and clean, but if you wanted a bedroom, they had to put two rooms together with a door. A lot of the furniture was built-in, and it was, in my opinion, kind of rough. It was utilitarian. The dining room looked very nice and well-kept; it was neat and clean. I just thought the rooms were too utilitarian. It kind of reminded me of when my niece's dorm room in college. When I say roughly built, it is not rough, lousy wood; it is just utilitarian construction. They seemed to have a lot of the same kind of activities as well including a beauty parlor and a place where they can get some physical exercise or some physical therapy. I would recommend it. The common area was fine. The real problem was the rooms. They were not as homey.

I visited this facility

Quail Ridge Retirement was like a revamped hospital. It wasn't quite nice as the other two facilities I visited. However, it was right next to the hospital. I thought their medical facilities might be a little bit better than the other two simply because of the location; they're right next to a big hospital. Also, everyone I talked to who has had somebody in there really spoke highly about it. The staff was very good too. They took the time to show me around a little bit. They had a couple of studio apartments they put together for two people, and I thought that was a nice idea.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My father was a resident of Quail Ridge. The care staff and Nurse Sharon truly showed care and compassion. During the time my father began hospice and through his passing; it became very apparent how much the staff truly care and commit to each residents' needs going above and beyond. He loved the food and activities and we felt that he started living again after our mother died.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I have placed my mom-in-law at Quail Ridge. She has been there since the end of October. They have a lot of activities and always have something going on. They have a wonderful dining room and they have restaurant-style meals. They also have a menu that the residents there can choose from. There was also a high school choir singing for Christmas and she just loves that. It’s a very caring place although a little bit fancy. We were really impressed with staff; they are great.

I visited this facility

We will probably be moving in in Quail Ridge Retirement around the end of September because that's when my husband will be retiring. I had friends there but they passed away, but the care that they did have and stuff that they did, they were very well taken care of. The facility is very well facilitated. It is a very safe place. They have video surveillance and they are very knowledgeable of who goes in and who goes out. They have become very familiar with the family. I brought a friend of mine in and they had never seen her before, we were going to visit a friend of mine that was there, and they ask me who it was that was with me and how is she related. If she hadn't been with me, she probably would have been asked to leave. Also the food there are very good. They make sure that whoever needs a special type of diets gets it. I have nothing but good comments for this facility and I would recommend it very highly.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My husband stayed overnight. We went on a trip and he stayed overnight while we were gone. It's a very nice facility, but unless you have kind of one-to-one help, it's a new experience for the person, so that's kind of disconcerting. The staff were very nice, but I can't know exactly how things are going unless I was there with my husband and have the experience with him which isn't going to happen. The staff was really sweet. We did go in and have dinner there a week before just to kind of see how it was. It's been remodeled and they do little projects and things. His room was close to the nurse's station, but it was away from other people. So in one way it was protective of him, but in another way it isolated him. One thing I like is that they don't have breakfast lunch and dinner at a certain time. I think it's a good thing, because there's an hour and a half where you can go. You can take your time, and people go there at different times. He likes some of the food, some he did not. The facility looks nice and the price is good. He can go for respite care for the day, and that's probably what we will do occasionally, every couple of weeks or so. We'll just have to kind of wait and see how it works out in the future.
