My parents were there for 8 years. My father passed in 2020, and we recently pulled my mom out. The quality of care has really gone downhill - both in terms of cleanliness and in terms of looking after the physical and mental well being of the residents. You can tell that this industry is not heavily regulated - regulators would have shut this place down. Many of the staff, especially those who have been there for years, have great hearts - but the place relies heavily on contracted help now and is understaffed, and really doesn’t have a strong standard of care. You can tell there is a minimal budget for food and almost no budget for activities.

My parents were previously at Highgate at Paoli Pointe. We pulled them out of there and brought them into our home. Other than the fact that they're incompetent, apathetic workers, they're bought and sold by Penn. It's absolutely a horrible place. Get competent people. Clean house. Start over. They're in a quality location. It's just that they're the subjects of Penn and the government. They're incompetent and they don't care about the residents via their actions. The individual rooms were not cleaned on a regular basis. Or if they were, they weren't cleaned thoroughly. But the appearance of the place is very nice. The other little tidbit of information seems it has changed ownership twice in the last three years. That's another red flag. Don't go.

I visited this facility
We're looking at starting with a respite period with Highgate at Paoli Pointe. They were very flexible in the length of time, and you pay by the day, from 3 days up to 1 month. It's very easy to use if you need to get away for one or two weeks. The facility looked like a first-class place and the director was extremely helpful, informative, and very easy to work with.

My mom is a resident at Highgate Paoli Pointe for over a year. I am thoroughly pleased with All they do! Her room is always clean and laundry washed. If ever I have an issue and I call they are readily available. (for something as little as helping mom charge her phone) When I call Mom every day she sounds so happy! Tells me she had a great Breakast, Lunch, or Dinner. They recently started taking the residents out to lunch and shopping to target and Mom just loves that too! I would highly recommend this facility. I love the size it is not too big or overwhelming it is just right!

My mother is in the memory unit and the care is excellent. The are very caring to her needs. The staff is excellent to work with if you have any concerns. The rooms are kept clean. They have activities to keep the residents engaged. I am very glad that my mom is at Highgate.

I visited this facility
I visited Highgate at Paoli Pointe. I thought they were very good. I like them. I just had a good feel for the place, the room sizes for what you were paying for them, just the facility was nice, clean, and newer. I talked to a resident's sister when I was leaving. She's like, "This is a nice place." That was kind of unsolicited off the cuff. I saw people when I went in, and there was an exercise class going on. Even in the memory care, a woman who has dementia came up, but she was still very sweet and said, "Yeah, we look out for each other out here." She was very cute. There's a nice outdoor courtyard. At the time, there wasn't a ton going on, but there was a chair exercise class. It's five minutes from my home and work. It's kind of in between my work and my home. Even the smaller room and the standard size room, there's plenty of space and I like how it was laid out. They will have to assess my mother, but she showed me both the assisted living area and the memory care unit on the third floor. The memory care unit had a special button on the elevator, and there's a different dining hall. Those residents get to come down to certain events. There's somebody to take them down there. I liked it. I saw it a couple of years ago when I was looking more for assisted living when my mother was a little bit more high functioning, and I liked it back then, too. They were doing a birthday celebration that time when I went in. They were celebrating people's birthdays for the month. There's nothing I didn't like about it. I didn't get to interact with a lot of staff. I liked them. I just haven't seen a lot.

Not enough nursing staff on the second and third shift. The most deplorable is the facility is not locked!!!!! The terrace level is free for anyone to walk in! It's not safe for residents or staff!!!

Highgate at Paoli Pointe is a typical nursing home. It's satisfactory, clean, and the price is right. I have a friend who is a resident there, and the management is pretty good. The food is good and the medication is taken care of, but sometimes help is lacking at nighttime. They could improve by getting more help, but other than that it's pretty good.

The place at Highgate has nice rooms. They take good care of the people. They are dedicated in taking care of my wife, but they are very expensive. It is a nice facility although not sustainable for me. My wife is in a memory care unit. They have about 20 people in that unit located on the third floor. They have activities during the day. They have a music program, and they do puzzles and things. They are fairly flexible, and they have a lot of people with skills to take care of people who need help. They have activities to keep people busy. They are very limited in what they do with people with health problems. What impressed me the most is the dedication they have, and the meals are good. They have a good cook.

We chose Highgate of Paoli for my mom because is nearby where I live. It is a comfortable, nice building. It is very homey. Their rooms are comfortable. They are well lit. She is in one of the larger rooms that has a bedroom, a living room, and a kitchenette. The staff has been, overall, very good. I'm still getting used to how things work, but so far, so good. I think the staff is very professional and very competent. Food is good. They serve pretty much one of three choices for dinner. They have different things, but it is a well-balanced diet. Mom loves the food. They have arts, music, and different functions. They have a trip once a week, but I think that is something that they could probably work more on diversifying a bit.

I can't recommend this facility. Mom has been there for 2 years and the quality of care is inconsistent at best. Run by Genesis, there have been 3 Executive Directors (a revolving door of management) over the last 2 years... and it shows. Lots of lip service and not a lot of follow through. Complaints to management and Genesis go unheeded. It's unfortunate for our loved ones.
