I am a friend or relative of a resident
First of all, I like that Lisenby on Lake Caroline is small, so there aren't too many people being cared for there. My mom has dementia and she has anxiety, so if there is too much going on, it is very upsetting and counterproductive for her. The staff is very kind and they pay attention; they are very conscientious. They have exercises, church, Bingo, and transportation. It actually used to be a local hospital and it is a very old facility, but it has been converted into an assisted living facility. In addition, the lower level of the facility is a nursing home, so if your loved one has to be moved because they need more care in an actual nursing home setting, it is in the same building, so you don't have to move them again. It is also affordable. It is very sad that elderly people have to use all of their money to pay for their living -- a lot of those places can be up to $10,000 a month. This one here is anywhere from $2,000 to $4,000, so it is more affordable. They do provide meals, and they have a kitchen, a library, and a lot of stuff for the residents to do.

In Panama city, there are not many assisted living facilites, but I found this one the be the best. There are not enough nurses for the patients, but they are caring, helpful and easy to talk to. The facility has physical therapy for those who need it, as well as on site activities, such as dancing, bingo, cards, nature walks and board games. There is also on site dental, which is very handy for my grandfather. He is slowly losing his memory, so the mental health facilities are a plus. On the downsize, the place smells like urine and that makes it difficult for visiting. There is a common room for visiting, or you can take a walk in the beautiful gardens. All in all I would rate it a three.
