My sister seems to be adjusting to living here. She is participating in a few activities and says she has fun. Has made new friends which is just what she needed in her day to day life. The apartment is nice and has all she needs for daily living. Everyone is ver nice and she says everyone knows her name.

I have friends from church that live at Independence village of waterstone and they love it! I visit them quite frequently and enjoy a delicious homemade meal made by an executive chef on site! All of the staff I have interacted with are wonderful, especially Stephanie and Toni at the front desk. From what I've seen, the facility is beautiful and the residents are very well cared for.

The rooms are very nice. The people are the nice thing about this community. They are very caring and are very helpful. They kept an eye on my dad. I will be forever grateful for that. my dad loved the food there. There were many activities there that my dad participated in and liked it. Again thank you all.

My parents are doing so much better since they moved to Independence Village last year! The staff is so helpful and caring! The food is fantastic, and there is a wonderful brunch every month plus many other events for families. My Mom really enjoys the Bingo & other activities throughout the week, and has made many friends. There's also a happy hour party each week, with sing-a-longs, and live entertainment. The building is very clean, and is situated on a serene property with lots of trees, rolling hills, and a lake. My parents have a large patio where they can sit outside and enjoy the beautiful surroundings and wildlife. I would highly recommend Independence Village in Oxford!!!

Waterstone is a caring place that my mom has called home for 18years. She is always treated with kindness and respect. Her opinions are sometimes shared and has at times changed the way care/activities are altered to accommodate her abilities. Life changes and so does the staff helping mom enjoy each and every day!

My mother loves her new home in Independence Village of Oxford. The rooms are a nice size. The bedroom and closet are as big as her previous home. The bathroom has a large walk-in shower with grab bars. Her kitchen is the perfect size with room for a desk. There is plenty of natural light in her home with a large doorway and large window in her room, with both looking out into the courtyard. She is able to do her own laundry in the machines down the hall, as well as the facility doing her sheets and towels bimonthly. Her room is also cleaned by the staff bimonthly My mother loves the food. We are alway welcome to join her for dinner (at a fee). She enjoys her table mates. Continental breakfast is available each morning with plenty of foods to choose from along with hot coffee. There are a number of residents who come together in the morning to share an informal meal. The chef puts on amazing special meals for different occasions. It is always a beautiful buffet. They do monthly birthday celebrations, which my mother would not miss (she loves her sweets). The staff are extremely friendly. They will chat with my mother, calling her by her name, and they seem very aware of the special needs of the various residents. The staff can be very silly when doing various activities which seem to bring smiles to all of the residents and their visiting families. My mother enjoys a variety of the activities, especially Bingo and weekly church services. They even have weekly communion. She has tried the various exercise classes and enjoyed them. There are many other activities such as crafts, cards, puzzles, and other games, but my mom has yet to try them. My mother was part of the winning singing group for the talent show. Independence Village has a number of medical advantages too. We love that my mother has her hearing aids checked and adjusted monthly if needed. There is a podiatrist that visits her every 9 weeks. Her insurance allows her to receive PT right in her room. I cannot say express adequately how happy we are with Independence Village.

This is a beautiful facility and home for my brother. Everyone we have met or who have assisted my brother goes above and beyond. Very caring people work here. They are always quick to respond and take care of whatever he needs. The food is very good and served in a beautiful dining room or can have delivered to your room. They also keep everything very clean and maintained including his apartment. His apartment is very spacious and larger than others we visited before making our decision. The grounds are also very pretty from all sides and for a nice walk. I don't think we could have found a better home for him.

I visited this facility

I was visiting during a brunch that was held with my exercise group. They were incredibly gracious and welcoming and the food was amazing. Brian the chef is amazing. The food was phenomenal and he even caters the senior center here when I go for euchre nights. The staff running the tours were very friendly and answered all the questions the group had, as well as everyone else was super friendly and inviting. I am excited for them to get a new café when the renovations are completed and even though I do not need a home like this at the moment. When I do need one to move into then I know that I am choosing Independence Village of Waterstone. In addition to the amazing food they also talked about the activities that are offered like daily exercise classes, services for my faith, as well as bingo and all sorts of fun stuff. The view off the balcony was very pretty as well. Not sure what else to say about this place. It was a brief time spent their that has left me with a lasting impact. I am excited for when I need a place like this to be able to call home.

This is my second experience with Independence Village of Oxford. I cannot express the great care that we received and the kindness. I recently experienced my husband in a rehab facility. He received far more progress with OT and PT at Oxford. His apartment was always clean with housekeeping and the personal help he received from the aids were great. My sister who visited him told me it was like being at the Grand Hotel on Mackinaw Island.

My mom is a current resident. The staff here are very involved and have helped to watch over my mom knowing that her cognitive abilities are declining. The apartments are very clean. For each meal there are options which my mom enjoys having. There is also a lot of activities. My mom likes Bingo and playing volleyball. She has made friends and enjoys socializing. Overall Independence Village is a great place for seniors.

Our family is so happy that we found Independence Village at Waterstone. It's a beautiful facility that's well maintained. The food is excellent and there's a huge variety of activities that keep the residents as involved as they care to be. But what makes it truly special is the genuine concern and care the staff has for the seniors that have made I. V. their home. The personal support aides, the cafe staff, the administrators, the building maintenance staff and the kitchen staff all seem to know the residents by name and are unfailing friendly toward visiting family members. We have found the communication between the staff and family members to be excellent. After a year and a half, Independence Village continues to meet, if not exceed our expectations for a senior living community.

Independence Village of Oxford is very pleasant. If you have to live somewhere with assisted care, this is the place to go. It's very clean. Everybody is very nice, and they're very sociable. They have a lot of things going on here. It's just a very pleasant place to live if you have to live somewhere like that. The staff is excellent. The food is very good too. They have an excellent chef. They have all kinds of different things every night and you can choose from a menu. It's independent living, but they have assisted too. It costs a little more have all kinds of activities every day. There's bingo and a whole room full of exercise equipment. There are different faiths that are here on certain days too. I've only been here a short time, so I don't know all the activities, but they're always busy doing something. The price is reasonable because they include everything. You don't have any utility bills, and you don't have to clean your apartment. They come and do that every 2 weeks. There are also no extra charges at all, on anything. I like the friendliness of the community.

1 and 2 bedroom apartments all have multiple views of the surrounding Waterstone homes and wooded grounds. Very clean. Staff are welcoming and helpful. Genesis therapy and Clarkston Medical Group services have satellite offices within the community. I have had several meals here, and all have been well-rounded and delicious. There is something for everyone here.

My dad has been a resident at IVO for several years. Before her passing, my mom was a resident for 1 year. We have been very happy with Independence Village. The apartments are very nice and well-maintained. There are quite a few different activities. I am always impressed with their ideas for different activities and celebrations. Dad enjoys the activities and also enjoys attending church services at IVO. All the staff is wonderful! So friendly and helpful to both my dad and me. They know all the residents by name and go out of their way to help us. It’s evident that they truly care about the residents. Having a full-time job myself, I am so appreciative of the transportation provided for shopping and appointments. It is a great help for Dad and me. IVO has arranged for some outside services to be provided onsite. A local doctor’s office has appointments onsite. A podiatrist makes appointments in the residents’ apartments. An audiologist visits monthly. There is a lab service that comes to Dad’s apartment when he needs blood drawn for tests. My mom had required some additional assistance The aids came promptly whenever we pulled the cord or as scheduled. They always took the time to talk with Mom and were very caring and attentive. Before her passing, my mom was under Hospice care while still living in her apartment at IVO. The coordination, care and concern we received from everyone at IVO was truly appreciated. During the COVID restrictions, I was very impressed with the care and protection provided to the residents. The daily activity cart helped to keep up the morale of the residents. Their communication with the families has been very good. During the restrictions, they began taking frequent photos and posting them on Facebook so we could see our loved ones. That is continuing today. I so enjoy seeing my dad in the pictures! The director has provided frequent emails with COVID protocol updates and other important information for the families. It gives me peace of mind and comfort to know that my dad is happy and well cared at IVO.

The employees of Independent Village at Waterstone in Oxford truly care about each and every one of the residents that live there. The feel of the whole place is just like home. They take the time to listen and talk with everyone. I have seen the receptionists many times inviting someone to pull up a seat and sit with them at the desk and talk. The activities are wonderful. They come up with the best ideas for new and fun things to do. The chef makes the best meals! My dad says he has never eaten so good.

Excellent! The staff goes out of their way to be warm and helpful. Lots of activities going on and the food is excellent. Most important, they have been extremely helpful when health issues and emergencies have come up, especially since I work and can’t be there immediately. No matter what happens, I know they are in good hands. That gives me a huge amount of peace of mind you can’t put a price on.

Can’t say enough great things about Independence Village of Oxford. My dad and step mother moved in, and numerous complications on their side immediately happened. The staff at IVO was amazing through all of it. Where all I saw was the bad in the situation they saw hope and opportunity to truly help them succeed. Here we are 3 months later and they are thriving there!!!! The entire staff at IVO genuinely cares about each of the residence, and always have a smile and friendly hello for visitors. I had a chance to talk to some residents while moving stuff in and they all love it there. I can fully understand why, and feel blessed to have the opportunity to move my dads and step mom in.

My parents are in the independent area. Everyone is very caring and understanding. They were wonderful when my father passed away. The staff is very uplifting for mom and accommodating. They have a nice dining area and activities. The apartments are nice, only recommendation is to get new appliances since it's original and everything is refurbished.

Independence Village is a very caring facility. My mother has lived there for 14 years and she considers this community an extension of her family. Everyone is friendly and positive. This past year was tough due to the covid 19 virus restrictions but the residents and staff did their best to stay safe. In the past my mom partook of the many activities, trips and concerts. She looks forward to gathering with "family" again.

When it came time to consider moving my Mom to a senior living facility it was very emotional for us. We made our appointment at Independence village. I had such knots in my stomach knowing this was the next stage. When we walked in everyone was so friendly and happy! My Mom was beaming! By the end of the tour my Mom considered it a dream to live there. We were all so happy that our experience was so great! It has now been four years and she still feels the same way! Everyone knows her name!!! The friendliness is real! The dinners are a lovely dinning experience. I could go on and on. My advice...make the appointment you will leave knowing it was the right decision.

This has been a wonderful transition for my grandparents as they needed extra care moving from their home into an independent living facility. It has been a smooth journey thanks to the lovely accommodations, wonderful staff and countless amenities for them to enjoy. My grandma is a meticulous housekeeper and has appreciated the laundry and cleaning services that are provided. Their 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment is quaint and cozy. We’ve noticed any issues such as light bulb replacements are promptly taken care of. Our family is so grateful for the care they receive at Independent Village. It has certainly eased the worry and anxiety for all of us knowing they are in such exceptional care. My grandparents enjoy the variety and options for meals and take advantage of many of the daily activities and day trips that are offered. The dining staff always seems to be a hit as many are high school or college aged. We are always impressed with the rapport they have with residents! My grandparents became friends quickly with their neighbors and dining mates. Our family enjoys visiting and participating in cocktail hour, brunch, play time in the game room and special events. The environment is so warm, inviting and family friendly. We’re truly thankful and wowed by this community!
