When we had to decide on where my Mom should be we knew 2 things. It needed to be close to us and it needed to be safe. We were so glad that Mom has enjoyed everything about .issuing Oaks. From the warm friendly caregivers, to the knowledgeable a d dedicated Administrator and Nurses there, to the Activity Director and Cooks we are so thankful that her experience has been the very best.

We went to tour Mission Oaks. It was lovely. It was a very nice community. They have staff that they have retained for years, so that's a very good sign. They had a doctor on staff, and they had nurses. It was very nice. The rooms were nice and adequate. They did not have washers and dryers in the units, and that's my mother's main concern. She likes to do her own laundry, and she doesn't like to do it outside of her apartment; it was the only thing. They have drinks and partying going on, but they didn't have a bar set-up. Where she lives, it has a bar. That's important for her social life right now to go to a bar. The dining area was lovely, but we did not stay for lunch. It was nice, and it was very homey. The place was lovely, but it fell short on those two things for my mom. She didn't want to give up those two things. The staff who toured us was very nice. She answered all our questions, and she's the one who took us around to show us all the things that were available. It was a very pleasant experience. There was no pool. They had a library. They had a card room, and they had a soda shop where they had their social events. It was very, very small, which was really nice. It had under 100 people in the assisted living, so that was nice. The facility was beautiful.

Our tour experience at Mission Oaks was good. The gal was nice. The cost of the room was cheaper. If you want somebody to do the laundry, there's a personal price of $50 a month. Then the one-time fee is $2000. The only issue we had was that it's an older building. They had a common area for washers and dryers and transportation to outside activities. They also theur bed linen, clean the room once per week, and available advanced care. There's no Medicaid, though. The staff had been working there for quite a few years. So, that means they can hang on to people and that's a good thing.

My husband has been living in Mission Oaks and the level of care is good. My husband's not complaining so far. He likes it there and things are going very well. The staff is very good and the front office is very helpful. I'm also very pleased with the rooms. He has a studio and it's freshly painted and has a new carpet. He enjoys the meals. It's good, and he has his own refrigerator, microwave, and coffee pot. They do play cards, putting puzzles together, sitting out in the sun, and things like that.

The staff is fantastic at this facility. The activities is great - the leadership is fantastic. You could not ask for a better group of people to take care of your Mom or Dad. You have these huge corporate facilities - where it is only about the money and no staffing what-so-ever. I don't understand - what they are saying about the food they have a full restaurant style menu. Versus my mother used to stay at one of the corporate - resort buildings and they only 2 entree's per lunch or dinner. The food is excellent here. The Turkey Club is absolutely the best. Regardless, if you want your family taken care of - this is the place to go. If you want your parents to stay at a resort and no care - take your parents - to the non caring corporate buildings.

My parents moved from northern Wisconsin to Mission Oaks Assisted Living about 18 months ago. My husband and I looked at many facilities, but when we walked into Mission Oaks we both looked at each other and said "this is it". The atmosphere was homey, and the many staff and residents we met were so friendly and welcoming. The best thing was that everyone seemed happy! My parents and our family were made to feel such a part of their family. Staff are so caring, and very quick to respond to questions or concerns. When my dad became very ill Mission Oaks and Cornerstone Hospice worked together to make his last months as comfortable as possible, and his face lit up with a smile when any of the staff came into his room. After his passing I thought it might be difficult for mom to remain there with all the memories, but as she says "this is my home, these are my friends, and this is where I am staying". She loves the many activities and socializing with her neighbors. We love that she is close by, as independent as possible, and most of all so happy!

Mission Oaks Senior Living is doing a fine job, but the food quality is not really good. I've eaten there a few times, but I wouldn't want to eat there every day. Other than that, everything is OK. The nursing staff seems to be very interested in caring for Mother. The CNA Mom has is constantly calling me and updating me. They seem to be doing very well with everything other than the food.
