I am/was a resident of this facility

As a resident of Atria on the Hudson (Ossining) I am very happy with the choice I have made. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. All departments are open to suggestions and attentive to our requests where feasible. The medical department makes sure our medical needs are met as needed. Our location is close to all shopping needs. The facility is in immaculate condition, housekeeping and maintenance are on top of any needs and issues. The dining room offers a wide and varied choice of food to suit any tastes. If I have left any one or things out it was in error.

I toured Atria on the Hudson. It's very good. I looked at the whole thing. If you go into the senior home and if you need assisted living, you stay in your room, and they bring the help to you. So that's a very good thing. You don't have to move. The overall experience was very, very good. It had a lot of activities. It was very clean. People were friendly. They go out with buses to concerts and to shows, and they try to offer you as much as a normalized life as they can. Everything was excellent. It's beautiful. There's the dining room, there are club rooms, there's a library, and there are different rooms. They have an elevator, too. The outdoor is beautiful. They have walkways and nice views. The whole thing is lovely. What I like the most are the activities and the people. They're very friendly. In talking to the people there, everybody was very positive about living there. They liked it. The food was excellent. We were invited for a meal; very good food and very varied menu. I didn't have much to do with the staff, but in the dining room they were very nice, and they made sure you were comfortable and you had everything you wanted. And the people there said the staff were very nice. The one who assisted me was excellent. She was very good. It's an upscale place.

Mom has found a home at Atria On The Hudson. Thanks to Desiree and team I can sleep again at night. Mom has dementia and is recovering from hip replacement surgery. At 95 she hates to be alone and misses the comfort of a familiar environment. Desiree has gone the extra mile to make sure all of mom's needs are met. She is always just a call or text away. Now mom seems happy and content. I consider mom blessed to be a resident at Atria On the Hudson.

Atria on the Hudson is definitely more home-like compared to where my dad was. It used to be a hotel, so it's a bit more upscale. It's like my dad's got his own apartment. He has a kitchenette, and he could come and go as he pleases. I think the physical therapy group has moved him along at a greater speed than where he was at previously. It's been a wonderful experience with them. The food is also wonderful. It's restaurant-like quality. Then they do lectures and movies. They're excellent.

Provider Response

Hi Theresa, It has been our pleasure to welcome your dad to our community. Our residents mean the world to us. Thank you for choosing Atria!

Atria on the Hudson has an enhanced license for assisted living, and they also have memory care. It's very well planned out. They have excellent activity rooms, they have a pool, and they have a library. We happened to be there this week at breakfast time, and there were groups of people lingering over their breakfast and talking. I noticed, particularly groups of men, and since I would be there with my husband, it's important that there are also men there. They have an art room, lectures, concerts, clubs, and they may also broadcast the opera in HD. The employees were well-informed and very friendly, every staff member we happened to see. There were a lot of them out on the floor, they were helping people, and they were all very friendly. The food was also good. In terms of facilities, they seem to have everything.

I went to tour Atria on the Hudson. It looked like a Poconos lodge-like you're on a vacation. It's very warm and inviting. You walk in, there is a large area like a lodge with a fireplace. The dining room is also like a restaurant-style, very luxurious feeling. The staff who assisted me was very knowledgeable. He was very sweet, he's a nice young guy, very knowledgeable and very respectful. He answered all my questions. The rooms were a clean, well-decorated, and nice in size. They sent me a gift basket. It was two meals in a bag, one for me and one for my mother, and a dessert, and I would say it was excellent. The quality was excellent. It was like restaurant-high cuisine food. It was a very nice meal plus a dessert for each of us, some cupcakes and you could tell it was homemade. I saw the people in the cafeteria eating and ordering. A week later, I saw about 15 to 20 people sitting in the cafeteria, eating and ordering food off the menu. So I saw a lot of interaction and I saw more people. There was a movie room, an inside pool, and a weight room. The staff showed me the weight room like an exercise room. They had very nice grounds. Upkeep and maintenance were excellent. It was very clean. It was a little bit more upscale. It was more like you're at a resort. And the other one was more like you're in a home, like a Victorian home. The staff looked well-mannered and they were nice to the clients. I saw a lot of clients, which was good, they looked happy.

Atria on the Hudson was great, I wanted my parents to move there. I think the rooms are spacious, the people are very nice, the food looked really good and it's got a pool and a sauna. Even I would like to move in. We looked at ground floor spaces because my dad wanted to be able to go outside and sit, and they had those. They'll take people to the doctor, they'll take you on excursions if you want to go. It's fairly typical, but I just like the atmosphere of it. They gave us some biscotti or some cookies on our way out the door, that was made there, and they were amazing. They were fantastic.

Atria on the Hudson was a very nice place. Just that the location really would not work for the members of our family. They showed us the memory care and the room was a little bit more modern since it's a newer place. Activity-wise, pretty much they have activities from the morning to the evening. The lady we talked to was a little bit more direct, not as warm and friendly, but she's very nice, then they gave us a snack to take with us.

I toured Atria on the Hudson and have decided I will be moving in there. They are very welcoming and friendly. When I went to look at it, I thought I was looking for people I could talk to because I'm a retired professor, and I was introduced to another retired professor. Everybody that I met there was very friendly and welcoming, and I'm looking forward to moving in. I went in the entrance, they showed me the dining room, the movie room, and there's a workout room. There's a nice living room where you can sit and read the paper, and there are lots of little places outside where you can sit, but it's not too hot. I have an apartment on the ground floor that has a patio and I have my own planter there where I can still grow things. I have tables and chairs out there. They have very roomy apartments, after I got all my furniture, it looked like there's plenty of room in the apartment to move around, and I'm very pleased about that. They provide three meals a day, which was nice, and I don't have to cook. They do all the laundry, they do all the cleaning, everything's included, so it's wonderful. I was given a bag lunch, it was Salmon and a salad, and that was wonderful. I've only had one meal, but they said it's gourmet cooking, so I'll take their word for it.

I like Atria on the Hudson because it's brighter. They have a pool. Some of the rooms face the pool. It's very private, which I like. If I have to choose, I will choose them because they have a nice garden, large pool areas, and a very comfortable theater for watching movies. We saw the dining room. We actually had the food. The staff gave us food to take home from the kitchen, and I was like, "Wow, this was nice." The food was very delicious. We had salmon with potatoes and veggies, and she gave me a steak, which was really nice. She didn't have to, as we were just there to visit the place, but she wanted us to have a taste for what the residents eat. The staff was wonderful, very friendly, very competent, knowledgeable, and personable. Their rooms looked like my bedroom. It was very nice and well set up. Everything looked clean. It was well lit with a window, and that's important to me. What I like about that specific room was it was open; it had a balcony that faced the pool. If my friend had gone there, he would have loved that.

We are very pleased with Atria on the Hudson. The staff and management are responsive and caring. Many of the staff and management have fostered personal relationships with my parents, following up and checking in on them, and socializing with them and providing emotional support. Atria offers a variety of activities and actively encourages participation, a real plus. A drawback is that the in-house activities (such as book clubs) can be less intellectually stimulating than you’ll find available in the general population, and the wellness center has occasionally allowed errors to slip through with medication, though because my mother is attentive to details, she has caught the mistakes. That said, Atria has seen my parents through some difficult transitions with genuine compassion and real skill. The rooms are nice and the facility is clean and sanitary. Overall I would say not a perfect five star, but very close. I rest easy knowing my parents are in good hands.

Provider Response

We're thrilled to have your parents call our community home. Your compliments are a highlight for our team. Thank you for sharing, and thank you for choosing Atria.

Caring for our loved ones during COVID's lockdown & isolation was a challengeI! Yet, the nursing, engaged life, reception, dietary, maintenance, housekeeping & adminsitrative staff at Atria on the Hudson since March 2020 exceeded our expectations. It was heart-wrenching at times not being together in person, but I knew my mom was safe with all the COVID precaution measures put in place to ensure her continued good health. The staff''s ongoing cheerfulness, compassion, quick responsiveness to requests, open/sensitive communication & creative adjustments to activities offered me peace of heart & mind throughout the Pandanic. Looking forrward to hugging the Atria on the Hudson staff to stay a heartfelt, "THANK YOU!" We made the right decision moving my mom to Atria on the Hudson.

Our experience with Atria on the Hudson has been fine. These days we're unable to see my brother's room, but I think he's been happy with it. He says the food is OK, he says his room is OK, and he hasn't commented at all on any of his caretakers.

Our experience with Atria on the Hudson has been very good. The staff is very informative, very good, they answered all our questions, and took us around. They have an indoor pool, a gym, movies every day, and people come and play music and do talks. My father had a choice of three different rooms to choose from, and he picked the studio apartment overlooking the pool. It has a balcony. The staff knows all the residents by name, and they look after everybody. Their food is excellent. They have restaurant style dining, a regular menu, and specials for lunch and dinner. The menu is very detailed, and you can have shrimp cocktail for your appetizer and filet mignon for dinner every night. It's very accommodating. Families can come for a slight charge and eat with them. It used to be a hotel, so they have a big library and a game room.

From my personal experience this place is not worth the price. The staff is unprofessional and they don't care about their residents like they promote they do. It's a place that management doesn't follow the rules and if you are looking for extra care for your family member this place its definitely not the right fit. The employees there seem to just clock in for a paycheck and not really care about the fact that they are dealing with humans with a heart that need extra attention love and care.

I visited several months ago. Ahead of appointment, I simply walked all over for a half hour. I was never stopped or asked to sign in. Saw almost no signs of life from apartments, gym, swimming pool (open 2 hours 4 days a week)On tour, the young guy was a heavy marketer but not at all convincing. The place is cold and without any community feel to it. Everyone sitting alone at different tables for lunch etc. Less than honest atmosphere. Keep looking!

Atria was a wonderful place, and I would be more than happy to move there as well. They have an absolutely beautiful facility, the pool is wonderful looking, and they have the best movie theater of any of the places I visited with popcorn and everything. They had a beauty salon and a fitness center where they had physical therapy for those who needed it. They had an art studio that's as big any art studio I ever saw in any school. The people that I met had been absolutely wonderful. I have met a few of the nurses. The woman who showed us around was lovely, the people at the front desk was super helpful, and the people who worked in the restaurant were very nice and very polite. I saw lots of people attending lectures, they had a lot of activities going on all day, and they showed 2 movies a day. To me, it offered absolutely everything, and I wish my friend had moved into it when he was younger and would have been able to take advantage of all the things they do have. I would recommend it to anyone, especially anyone who's still active.

Atria on the Hudson is a lovely place and very clean with a lot of activities. The food is OK, but it takes a long time to be served. We have found that we are getting extra outside care for my mother because they cannot provide enough care. It's supposed to be enhanced living, but there is just not enough care. She's in a one-bedroom apartment that we've decorated, and it's very nice and has a patio. They offer a lot of different activities. It is a wonderful place for somebody who has a lot of money, wants three meals a day and a nice place to live, nice activities and good food, but not for somebody who needs a lot of care.

I did visit Atria on the Hudson for my father. We ate there, and the food was very good. The dining room was very nice. Regarding the rooms, they were just single rooms with a bathroom and a small kitchen area. They have all kinds of activities during the day. They have a calendar of activities for the day. They need to improve the price though.

I came across Atria on the Hudson as it was close to my sister-in-law’s house. So far, it’s wonderful. She has been there for a month or two. It’s clean, bright, and open. The people are very friendly and helpful. It’s very accessible, and the service has been great. The surroundings are good, grounds pretty, and well-landscaped. The rooms are nice. I can’t think of anything negative to say so far. She has got early Alzheimer’s so she is confused part of the time, but she seems happy there. They take trips to the city, entertainers come in, classes, jewelry making, arts, happy hour, and arts and crafts.

Our mother lived here for five months before we had to find a more appropriate facility. It is a large, impersonal place, if your loved one needs escorting and reminders to leave her apartment. There was little to no communication with us, her family. We were very disappointed, especially when one considers the price of this facility.

Provider Response

I am sorry to hear about your experience and the lack of communication you mentioned. Your comments will be shared with the appropriate directors to ensure we are continually improving upon the relationships with our families. You may contact us directly via customerservice@atriaseniorliving.com, including "Atria on the Hudson" in your subject line so we may quickly include the right people in the correspondence. I visited this facility

I visited Atria. The staff is very friendly and very pleasant. What I noticed is they knew every guest's name. The environment is very nice and upscale. I saw a 1-bedroom, and it was nice and spacious. It had a small terrace, which is very nice. The location is very pleasant. It's right off the Hudson River. From a financial perspective, it's rather expensive, but it's flexible enough that you can rent by the month. You can try it out for a month and see whether that's the environment you want to be in. They have a pool. They have general practitioners visiting Atria as opposed to the guests having to go out to visit their general practitioner, so I thought that was good. They had a salon/barber shop in-house. They had physical therapy in-house, and they also have a driver who takes the guests for doctor's appointments. They have a bus service that takes the guests to scheduled outings to the local malls and the movie theater. They also had an outdoor area that was covered, so in the summer, they have events outdoors. The guests looked like they were keeping themselves busy. What is nice is the kitchen is open from 7:00am to 7:00pm. Guests could have a meal whenever they choose. They have a broad menu. If the guest wants scrambled eggs for dinner and a steak for breakfast, the kitchen can accommodate that. You can go as you please, and you can eat as you like. They have 3 different areas where you can sit, and they also have a bar area where you can also sit down and have a meal. It seemed like the place where the crowds would gather late afternoon for a beer or a glass or wine.

I loved Atria a lot but it was a little bit more expensive. It's beautiful place if you could afford it. It costs $8000-$10000 to put my father and my step-mother in there and that was unfortunately a little bit outside of scope for us. It's like a country club on the Hudson River. It has an indoor swimming pool and some of the rooms actually have balconies. It's the perfect place because residents have so much to do. The setting was just beautiful.

My father had to go to a psychiatric ward in a hospital. We didn't even understand what kind of facility we needed for my father at the time, there was just so much confusion going on, we weren't prepared, and we didn't understand the difference between an assisted living and a nursing home. So we are really relieved that we found Atria on the Hudson. It's a very nice, new facility, the staff is very friendly. The food looks fine to me. It actually has very nice open spaces, beautiful indoor pool, public spaces are very nice and open, and there is a beautiful library. I think they consider this as luxury assisted living from what I've seen from their website. But it's out of our budget, so we're moving him to Florida.

This Atria is very well designed. It has different styles of apartments from efficiency to 2 BR. All are equipped with an emergency call system. Unfortunately, the kitchens (at least in the 1 BRs we saw) are really kitchenettes. The facility has a restaurant and grill on premises where the residents can eat, but if they enjoy cooking, this is a pretty small area to use. And pert of the living area would have to be made into a dining area. The exterior and interior are well-maintained.Amenities are great: restaurants, club, theater, swimming pool, housekeeping service, medication assistance, exercise area/spa/salon, walking paths, town car/shuttle service, cable, pets are welcome, scheduled activities and other features. It is located close to malls, restaurants, parks, the county airport, local hospitals, theaters, a music hall and other venues. It's in an historic area and there are museums, estates, gardens and other scenic areas that are easy to visit. There is a good amount of parking on site for residents and guests. There are trained health care personnel on site if needed. The residents that we met seemed to really like the community and the other residents, They were very complimentary. The downside is cost. Even for residents who cook for themselves and don't use the restaurants, or need medication assistance, the rate is high. Be prepared to pay quite a bit per month to have a loved one stay here.

My parents went there for a respite stay and it was a horrible experience in every respect. The security was non-existent (we entered through the open side door every day), they left my parents waiting for hours to be escorted to dinner or for help taking showers, and when I called the front desk they had no idea where my parents were and wouldn't look for them. So-called "activities" were non-existent, consisting mostly of old movies. My parents were supposed to stay a month and left a week early, also through the side door with no formal notification procedure and no one calling us to find out where they were. We then received a bill for an additional $1100 for services they never received and no credit for the week they weren't there. Eight months later this is unresolved. Do not let anyone go there if you care about their welfare!

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I found it to be a bit depressing putting my grandmother into an assisted living situation, as she was basically capable of living on her own, but with her blessing, we sold her house and moved her into this facility. I was pleasantly surprised by the amenities given to the residents. The horror stories one usually hears about such places did not manifest as we first began visiting her on a regular basis. The staff of the facility was highly knowledgeable but more importantly they were willing and happy to assist in the daily needs of their residents. This includes the maintenance of their health and personal needs. What I was really happy about was the interactions my loved one was able to have in the facility. She was among her peers, people with whom she could associate on a daily basis with similar life stories and problems associated with their age. One problem I did have with the facility was its insistence on signing in an out of the home. Although it was explained to me that this was a security system put in place to protect the people in the home, i found it to be a bit too institutional for my liking. I felt as though i was being brought into a prison and likewise, signing my grandmother out of prison whenever she came to visit us in our home. This was not a concern of any of my family members, so i would not consider it a completely detrimental aspect of the situation. One last thing i was impressed by in the home were the activities available to the residents. I was surprised at how active my grandmother and her new friends were kept daily. There were set times for lunch a variety of activities such as games, entertainment, and group meals. This gave me reassurance that my grandmother would be taken care of to the best of their abilities.

Atria on the Hudson overlooks the Hudson River and offers residents a luxurious environment indoors and a beautiful natural environment just outside. An emphasis on the natural and the holistic is a hallmark of our service, so we've designed Atria on the Hudson as a greener, more sustainable assisted living community with classes and programs to help residents remain active.
