I visited this facility

Roseleaf in Oroville was very nice. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and very caring. They took me out to their outside garden area. It's a huge area that you can just walk around and enjoy and sit out and listen to the birds and enjoy the sunshine. It was a small setting. It wasn't like a hospital setting. So that was good. They had lots of things available for the people that live there. So, that was nice. Looked like they had less than 30 residents so it was more of a home feeling instead of being in an institutionalized place. It was compatible for the elderly.

I visited this facility

The tour at Roseleaf in Oroville was nice. The lady explained to me that the residents can go outside any time that they want and someone goes with them. If it's a hot day, they encourage the residents to stay indoors. The exterior of the facility was highly secured. It's monitored by a camera system. They had a very large outdoor area. They have some fruit trees in their open area outdoors, and they'll have the residents gather the fruit and make jelly or whatever they can do with the fruit. It's an older facility. It looks like they're doing a little bit of renovation on the outside, but nothing that really would interfere with the residents there. The lounge was not bad at all. The people in the independent area and those that can come and go as they wish can choose to either dine in the dining area or they can choose in-room service. I briefly spoke with one or two residents in the independent living area and I asked, "Are you pleased with your room and everything?" They go, "Oh, absolutely. This fits perfectly for me. I don't even have to worry about doing anything. Somebody does my laundry. Somebody does my cooking. They'll take me shopping on the bus if I want to go that way or I can take my car." They had no complaints about food whatsoever. They were quite pleased. They do special events when somebody has a birthday or something like that in assisted living. They also include the memory care people in something like that but in their secured area. They'll bring some cake out and stuff and sing happy birthday. The staff is trained. They had training, which is more of a refresher. They have nurses on staff. You can come visit anytime day and night. There are no visiting hours. If it's after hours, you ring the bell and they'll buzz you in. You can come and go as you wish. They give you a code to get into the secure facility. The only place where you have to be buzzed in is the front door. You can come and have dinner with your loved one. The room is shared. They don't have that many residents right now. The facility is not huge. The grounds are big. They own quite a bit of the land that's around them. They're kind of in a rural area. It's clean. They provide everything for the residents. They do laundry two times a week. If a resident has more laundry, they'll do it. They're very flexible in everything. The staff during the tour spoke English, but it was difficult to understand because of the accent. Other than that, I had no problem whatsoever. Because they don't have a lot of residents, when they bring in a new resident, the resident is going to get a shared room, but there's nobody else in it. It allows them to get comfortable where they are. Once the person gets a little bit acclimated to the facility and the room, they'll try and match a person to another person as best as they can.

Roseleaf in Oroville was nice. The staff was all very friendly and helpful. The executive director was fantastic. I saw pictures up on the walls that the residents had painted. They had a library, vans for transportation, and a big TV room. They had huge fruit trees out in the back with lots of shade. They had big lawn areas that were all fenced-in and gated.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My husband was at Roseleaf in Oroville. We were not happy with that one. My husband was missing all his stuff. It would disappear. He was so unhappy there. The food was terrible. The activities were not anything he was interested in. They were coloring pictures and he didn't want to do that. He was just bored there, and he didn't like the staff. He said they'd yell at him. I ate there a little bit. They had soup that they served a lot that had chunks of vegetables and a broth. It's not good at all, and it's very bland. It's nutritious maybe, but it didn't taste good. The room was terrible. It was dark and kind of dirty. The beds were terrible. The bathrooms were terrible. The staff were not very nice.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My wife is in Roseleaf in Oroville memory care. We chose them because they had great reviews. It's a small community, there are about 40 people in the complex, and there are about 30 people taking care of them. We've had quite a few meals there, I'm a chef by trade, and the food is excellent. They're courteous, they're great, they're fantastic. They make very few mistakes and they're very well-trained. They always have something going on so they're never bored. There's always entertainment going on there, like yesterday they had line dancing. The place is spotless and the cleanliness is incredible. There is always someone washing the floors or dusting down the place. It's really nice. It's great value for the money, and really inexpensive. I pay $3,600 a month and that's it.

My brother-in-law currently lives in Roseleaf in Oroville. The staff members I've dealt with have been really, really great and very attentive. We have no issues with anybody for sure. The grounds are gorgeous. The rooms are good. It's not a state-of-the art facility, but it's well kept up.

I toured here. The staff seemed very nice, but the best part about that place was its spacious backyard. They also have easier access to bathrooms. They have just as many activities as the others. I think there's a theater, bar, a dining room, and a library. They are still renovating some parts, so it's still a work in progress.

It was beautiful. The people and everyone that was there seemed happy and comfortable. We liked their rooms. The garden area was relaxing. We looked at their activity board, and we liked their activities. We thought it was comforting for my mother if this were the place we would go. The staff was very pleasant, thorough, and answered all our questions. They have different areas for family gatherings.
