The tour experience I had at Westminster Towers was excellent. The tour marketing directors were very good. They had a lot of information. They were good about telling us all the expenses, all the paperwork, and they answered all the questions. The assisted living apartments were a little smaller. The thing we didn't like, for us, was there was no kitchenette or even a small refrigerator to be able to let my dad have his cereal in the morning or microwave something if he wanted to or let us cook a little meal for him when we would come visiting. The good news is that assisted living and skilled nursing were all in one building. So, that was a good thing because all we would have to do is take an elevator to see my mother if they both move in there. The dining area was very nice. The food plan they had was a little different. They had a pay-as-you-go type of thing. So, if you wanted certain services, they weren't included. You would pay an additional fee. In assisted living, if my father wanted his laundry done versus walking down the hall and doing it himself at the washer and dryer, which he would never do, then there would be a fee for that. If you wanted more than one meal a day, then you would pay for the additional meal. To clean the little apartment, you would pay an additional fee. Little things like that. So, they were more of a pay-as-you-go for certain things, not all things. Westminster Towers seemed a little older and the apartments weren't updated. They said if Dad wants it, they would paint it or if he wanted something changed out in it, they charged for that. They had grab bars on the toilet and things like that, so that was good, but it just seemed like it wasn't as updated to current standards. The bathrooms had a lip over the shower. The people we met were very good, very knowledgeable, and very open. They were community oriented. They knew many of the people and that was good.

What made us choose Westminster Towers for my parents are the staff and the facilities. They have a lot of things for them to do there. They have an 18-hole putting green and a pool room. My parents' quality of life will be a lot better than some of the other places that didn't have as much stuff. Right now, they're on the waiting list so as soon as they give them a go, they're going to move in. The rooms were a little larger than the other three that I looked at. The other ones were 400 to 500 square feet, and these were a little over 600 for basically the same price. They have a community dining area. They also have the option. If you don't want to go there, they could bring the food to the room. From what I saw, cleanliness was pretty good. I saw an exercise room, a salon, and a courtyard. They also have a recreational room with a pool table.

Mom was a guest at Windsor Tower for a few weeks of rehab following surgery for injuries sustained in a fall. We appreciated the sincere connection staff members made with the residents, and the professionalism they showed throughout her stay. We did our part to support and encourage her well-being, but an active schedule of OT & PT, along with our phone calls and visits, helped her sustain a positive mood most days. They promoted her well-being after discharge by giving her common-sense advice about personal care, as well as use of her walker and wheelchair.

We toured Westminster Towers Orlando. We were there for my father who was going to be in assisted living. I liked the layout of the apartments for each resident. I liked the fact that the representative who took us around knew all of the residents by name. The facility is always clean. They do a lot of activities for the residents. Their food is good, and that's an important factor. The pricing was a little high. For the amenities that they get, I think it was OK. The other thing that I like is it is a continuous care facility. Someone can age in place and go from independent living to assisted living to memory care if needed, all in one location. The chef involves himself with the residents. He actually seeks input as to what would be good to have and things like that. I think that is a wonderful thing for the residents there. They have a putting green and a cafe, which is a very informal setting. They also have a sit-down dining room that has white tablecloths, and it's very nice. They have several meeting rooms for very large groups, as well as smaller groups. They honor the residents who have been in the military, and that is a very active part of their community. The facility is always well-kept and maintained. It is a tall multi-story tower, so the assisted living apartments are on floors two, three, and four.

Westminster Towers Orlando is amazing. It's beautiful. There are so many activities and they are so encouraging. My dad doesn't feel left out. The food is great. He has a 10th-floor room that overlooks the skyline of Orlando and the Lake Lucerne fountain. It just couldn't be any better. He has a one-bedroom apartment and it's got a kitchen, a huge pantry, and a nice living room. It's just lovely. There are also laundry facilities on the floor for the units that don't have washer-dryers in their rooms. Their calendar is full. Every time dad has something going on. I went to a yoga class with him today. They have religious things, artistic things, a concert almost every weekend with really fine musicians, and movie nights. It's a packed schedule. The rent includes one meal a day and then you can add on as you wish. It's a cashless plan, so you use a fob to either pay for your guests or to credit your account for your meal, or when you go to the beautician, the barber, or their little general store. They got a computer center, a beautiful gym, and a heated outdoor pool as well. The staff is so kind and helpful.

Westminster Towers Orlando would be very livable for my wife and me, but it's right in downtown Orlando and I don't think we would enjoy that. It's in a tall building and not laid out with villas, apartment homes, or separate homes -- it's all in one building downtown. However, they have everything you would want, from a snack shop to a little emergency-shopping area that has over-the-counter things that you might need. When we were there, people were mostly sitting in small groups, laughing and enjoying the camaraderie of being together. We have tried their food and it was good, but it did not stand out. It was just your average restaurant-type food. The staff was very nice, inviting, and anxious to do anything that we were interested in. They answered all our questions.
